Chapter 1545: Ten-Person Invader Squad

After Xia Qing ended the call, the fourth combatant of the Azure Dragon Squad, Tang Zhou, immediately reported, "Qing-jie, Azure Dragon Squad Five has fully assembled."

Xia Qing nodded. "The whole squad advances at top speed. Reach the second peak of Mountain Forty-Eight in fifteen minutes, spread the battle line, and intercept the invaders with everything you've got."

"Yes!"

After the entire Tang Zhou squad responded, Tang Zhou asked Xia Qing how she would get there. "Qing-jie, should I carry you on my back?"

Tang Zhou was a high-level elastic evolver, and his running speed was the fastest on the whole squad.

"No need. You all go at full speed; I'll catch up to you very soon." After arranging the mission, Xia Qing, carrying two sniper rifles on her back, charged straight into Zone Three of Mountain Forty-Nine.

Having fought Blaze for over a year, Xia Qing knew exactly what kind of temperament this squad had. After the 1223 bombing, she had guessed that Blaze would definitely send people over to completely destroy this territory in "revenge."

To that end, Xia Qing had made ample preparations.

She charged into Zone Three of Mountain Forty-Nine and called out to the three giant wolves she had hired from the northern wolf pack at a heavy price—300 points per day. "Big Guy, Second Guy, Black Second, form up and move out! Plucker, come out and follow me!"

Hearing Xia Qing's call, the three giant wolves leaped out of the valley and stood before Xia Qing.

Xia Qing swiftly tied her pack onto the pure-black giant wolf Black Second's back. Discovering that the weasel that had followed her out was not Plucker but Little White Hair, she immediately asked, "Little White Hair, where's Plucker? Out hunting?"

Little White Hair, snowy white all over, stared at Xia Qing with two eyes like little lightbulbs and said nothing.

Xia Qing, pressed for time, had no time to figure out where Plucker had gone. She quickly peeled out an egg and handed it to Little White Hair. "Where's the Plucker brat? Tell it to come out and run a mission with me. When we get back, I'll give you ten green-light eggs."

"Squeak squeak—"

Little White Hair called out twice, and a half-grown weasel darted out from the nearby woods, nimbly climbing onto Xia Qing's protective mask. Chugging and puffing as it chased after from behind, a flat-topped little creature baring a mouthful of fierce little teeth saw the three giant wolves here, got so angry it spun in a circle on the spot, then charged sideways and went crunch, crunch, gnawing on a tree trunk.

Xia Qing flipped herself onto the back of the giant wolf Big Guy and, in the authority of the wolf pack's fourth combatant, commanded imperiously, "Big Guy, Second Guy, Black Second, over there, move out!"

Big Guy shook his thick fur all over and led Second Guy and Black Second forward at full speed. When they reached the north gate of Territory Seven, Xia Qing leaped off the wolf's back and burst out of the Evolution Forest. She took a heavy box from Zheng Chen, who was standing by the wire-net wall, said "Thanks," then darted back into the Evolution Forest, mounted the wolf, and turned west toward Mountain Forty-Eight.

Even taking a detour, Xia Qing on horseback quickly overtook the Tang Zhou squad and Di Ming, who were running at full speed. She commanded through her earpiece walkie-talkie, "Tang Zhou, carry Zhang Ling and advance at full speed. You must reach the second peak of Mountain Forty-Eight and link up with me within twelve minutes."

In this year's migratory bird season battle intercepting the invading Phantom Squad, Tang Zhou squad's intermediate sniper Sun Si died, and the advanced sniper Zhang Ling was assigned to this squad. Zhang Ling's sniping ability was higher than Sun Si's, but her field combat experience and running speed still fell short by a notch.

"Copy." Although he couldn't see Xia Qing's shadow, Tang Zhou knew Xia Qing was advancing on wolfback. Without a word, he slung his pack onto the teammate behind him, hoisted Zhang Ling onto his back, and advanced at full speed.

Zhang Ling, being carried, reported, "Qing-jie, our squad just received a message from the brigade commander. Azure Dragon Squad One and Squad Four are ambushed at Mountains Forty-Eight and Forty-Nine, awaiting your arrangements."

Azure Dragon Squad One didn't follow Yang Jin to kill the Fire Phoenix?

Xia Qing was stunned for a moment, then calmly gave orders, "Order Squad One to immediately head for the southwest slope of the second peak of Mountain Forty-Eight and team up with us to wipe out the invaders; Squad Four to head for Zone Three of Mountain Forty-Nine and assist the Hu Zifeng squad and the Yin Jie squad in defending Mountain Forty-Nine and the territory."

"Copy." Zhang Ling immediately contacted both squads.

Riding on the wolf's back, Xia Qing received a call from Tan Junjie.

"Xia Qing, I've applied to the old headquarters for reinforcements. The fastest the reinforcements can arrive is twenty minutes. Do you need military support on your end?"

Xia Qing responded, "The second peak doesn't need support. Direct the reinforcements to head straight for the Territory in Northern Zone One and team up with the inspection team and the Ninth Center to defend the territory, especially the eastern and southern wire-net walls."

Tan Junjie responded, "Copy. Stay safe. Once combat starts on your end, I'll notify the entire territory to defend."

The reason they weren't using walkie-talkies and loudspeakers to call everyone in Northern Zone One together now was fear of tipping off the enemy.

Xin Yu, being carried on the back of a high-level speed evolver as they hurried along, pressed the walkie-talkie button. "Xia Qing, can you hear me?"

Xia Qing responded calmly, "I can hear you. Go ahead."

Xin Yu reported, "The ten-person invader squad is in the southwest of the third peak of Mountain Forty-Eight. After taking down six wolves, they're advancing at full speed. They'll reach your chosen ambush point in at most eighteen minutes. Should we use bombs to disrupt and take out a few first?"

Because she knew about Xia Qing's relationship with the wolf pack, when she saw the six evolution wolves collapsed on the ground through the surveillance screen, Xin Yu said "took down" rather than "killed."

No wonder the howling from the southern and western wolf packs was so angry—turns out they'd already taken casualties. Xia Qing's voice remained calm. "No need. I can reach Sniper Point One at the designated position to intercept in five minutes. What's the invader squad's capability and equipment like?"

Xin Yu reported, "Two carrying rocket launchers, two carrying sniper rifles, three carrying large backpacks, all armed; three wearing modified-human equipment, the rest in special-ops or Field Grade Four protective suits, no tamed beasts or tamed birds, everyone's movement speed is above the level of a Grade Six speed evolver."

Hearing the enemy's equipment and running speed, Di Ming, a brain-domain evolver, quickly analyzed, "Qing-jie, this is eighty percent the missing Blaze Squad Three or Four from a while back. The fact that they can all run at above Grade Six speed means they definitely took drugs. Blaze is planning a suicide-attack style strike to completely destroy our territory within an hour."

Damn!

Wang Liang, vice-captain of Azure Dragon Squad One, who had joined the walkie-talkie channel, suggested with killing intent, "Qing-jie, the Azure Dragon Squad is also equipped with combat-boosting potions. Should we take them now?"

Later, sniper against sniper, the rest of them in a straight-up brawl—beat the hell out of them!

Xia Qing asked, "Which numbered potions?"

Li Xuanyu, the Squad One member responsible for reconnaissance, liaison, and medical rescue, immediately reported, "Six of Number One, ten of Number Three."

Number One potion was Yi-element stimulant fluid; combat power would be lost one hour after taking it. Number Three potion had a slightly weaker effect and milder side effects, but combat power would also drop significantly one hour after taking it.

This ten-person squad at Mountain Forty-Eight might not be the only wave; combat could last over an hour. The Azure Dragon Squad's main force couldn't afford to lose combat power.

Xia Qing ordered, "No one takes potions. Ma Jun, report position."

Ma Jun, the advanced sniper of Azure Dragon Squad One, immediately reported, "Our squad has reached the second peak of Mountain Forty-Eight. I'm looking for a sniper position."

Xia Qing ordered, "Go to the peak about 600 meters high in the southwest of the second peak that has three large pine trees. The tallest large pine tree has a solid bunker on it."

Having already reached the second peak, Ma Jun immediately found the sniper position based on Xia Qing's description. "Copy. Three minutes to arrive."

Xia Qing, hurrying along on wolfback, continued to order, "Xin Yu, the enemy has sniper rifles. Don't let Owl-Owl's flight altitude drop below 2,200 meters."

Xin Yu answered calmly, "Understood. I brought thirty packs of explosives and have already found a suitable explosion point from the air."

After ducking her head to avoid a vine, Xia Qing ordered, "After I reach the sniper position, have Owl-Owl come link up with me immediately."

"Copy."
