Chapter 110

~6 min read 1,195 words

The path of the White Demon King is thrilling, but one must still eat meal by meal and walk step by step.

Allen quickly cast that thought aside and continued immersing himself in the study of memory magic.

He soon discovered a mistake he had made regarding memory magic.

First, the difficulty of memory magic exceeded his expectations, and his progress was not fast.

Then, to achieve the ability to play one's memories frame by frame in the mind, one must construct a "Mind Chamber" within the mind; only after placing memories into the Mind Chamber can various processes be performed on them.

And if one wishes to construct a Mind Chamber in the mind, one must possess deep research into memory magic; given the difficulty of memory magic, Allen estimated that reaching the level capable of building a Mind Chamber would take at least two or three years, and who knows how many years if it took longer.

Dumbledore's Pensieve is a simplified version of a Mind Chamber.

This made Allen realize that his research path was blocked again.

Could it be that he truly had no choice but to try borrowing the Pensieve and the Mirror of Erised? Setting aside whether he could borrow them, would borrowing these two magical artifacts cause Dumbledore to discover his secrets? Moreover, these two magical artifacts seemed only capable of viewing memories, not processing them, Allen thought bitterly.

And viewing memories was merely the first step in his runic programming.

Allen found the problem had returned to the starting point; he still needed to construct a "Mind Chamber".

Should this direction be temporarily shelved? Allen thought with some reluctance in his heart.

He currently had three directions to enhance his strength:

1. The runic programming direction.

2. The direction of mastering his own innate transformation. This has been ongoing.

3. The direction of improving spells.

Both directions 1 and 3 require memory magic to observe one's own memories, and direction 3 also requires researching more interpretations of ancient runes; and such a good thing as obtaining a notebook of ancient runes from Ron last time would likely not happen a second time, so direction 3 would very likely fall into stagnation again.

Allen pondered left and right but still could not think of a suitable method.

Until he told Yodel of his troubles regarding memory magic.

To speak of it, Allen had recently spent a vast amount of time learning knowledge of memory magic within Yodel's memories; because of this form of learning, he inevitably gained a deeper understanding of Yodel.

When he truly understood Yodel deeply, he found he could not hold any ill will toward a person of tall stature, handsome face, gentle and wise nature, and courteous manners; moreover, Yodel had shown no arrogance or aggression.

Furthermore, he displayed extraordinary charisma and leadership at Hogwarts; Allen believed these were things he currently lacked.

So Allen's impression of Yodel improved day by day, his guard lowered significantly, and he was willing to chat about various things with him in his daily life.

Because he found the young Yodel's insights on certain issues were extremely unique, able to quickly grasp the core of many problems and then draw inferences from one instance, making him a particularly good conversational partner.

Besides, the nature of Allen's current work was rather boring; aside from writing letters to friends, there was no one else to communicate with, so he had recently become very fond of chatting with Yodel.

And after hearing Allen's troubles, Yodel very quickly wrote on the diary:

"This diary is a natural Mind Chamber! It possesses all the abilities of a Mind Chamber!"

Allen was stunned; he had not expected that inside this tattered diary, besides hiding a magical life, there also lay such powerful functions.

He did not doubt Yodel's words, for Yodel had no need to lie to him on this matter.

"May I use it?" Allen quickly wrote on the diary, then looked at the diary with hope.

"Yes!"

"I will take you inside!" The diary displayed these two lines.

Allen skillfully opened his heart; the next moment, he found his split consciousness had arrived in a pure white space.

He looked left and right but could see nothing but white.

"The Mind Chamber is like this; it has not yet been decorated by your memories!" A familiar voice suddenly came from behind.

Allen turned his head and saw Yodel; Yodel was still dressed as a prefect, smiling at him; his handsome and peaceful appearance combined with a warm smile was truly charming.

"Can you speak with me here?" Allen sized up Yodel and asked in surprise.

"This is my home, and since I am a consciousness produced by memory magic, I can appear inside the Mind Chamber," Yodel explained, then extended his right hand toward Allen.

Allen quickly extended his own right hand as well, and the two hands clasped tightly together.

Allen only felt Yodel's hand was somewhat cool, but Allen could also feel the warmth of his hand, even his pulse...

"Is memory magic so magical?" Allen looked at Yodel in surprise; he even pinched Yodel's fingers with his hand, and the sensation remained very real.

Yodel withdrew his hand without showing emotion and said, "This is the magic of a person's memories; it is precisely because of memories that memory magic is so magical."

Allen paid no attention to the dialectical relationship in Yodel's words; he looked around and said, "Then how do we begin? I am somewhat impatient!"

"You need to pull the memory you wish to examine closely out of your brain and place it into the notebook." Yodel summoned a long bench and invited Allen to sit together.

"Then I will go out first to pull out the memory; wait for me!" Having finished speaking, he pulled his split consciousness back into his body.

Yodel, sitting alone on the long bench, saw the smile on his face gradually vanish; his expression became solemn and puzzled; he did not know how Allen had detached himself from the Mind Chamber...

And Allen began selecting and simply processing the memories he wished to view.

Recently, Allen's research into memory magic had yielded some results; for instance, he had mastered the copying of memories and simple trimming.

For example, he now first used memory magic to copy the memory he wished to extract, then performed extensive trimming on the copied memory; for instance, since the light curtain displaying ancient runes was on the wand, Allen trimmed the element of the wand out of this memory. This was also to avoid his secrets being discovered.

Soon, he used his wand to extract several segments of simply processed memories and placed them onto the diary.

These few threads of memory vanished without a trace upon contacting the diary.

Allen then lightly tapped the notebook twice; this was the secret signal agreed upon between him and Yodel.

He was thus pulled back into the Mind Chamber...

The few threads of memory just sucked into the diary were floating in this white space.
