Chapter 111: Everything Is Possible in a Dream

~6 min read 1,012 words

“Then what should I do?” Allen looked at Jodel, who was sitting on the bench.

“You can be much bolder inside your Mind Chamber—treat it as truly your own, unbound by rules or limits,” Jodel said, his black eyes fixed on Allen.

“Bound...” Allen rejected the word.

“Just think of it as a dream!” Jodel continued to guide him.

“A dream?” Allen murmured, and in the next instant, a can of Soda Pop appeared in his hand. He pulled the tab and took a deep gulp.

“Perfect! That’s the feeling! One sip was worth two and a half jin!” Allen let out a satisfied burp. “Dreams really do have everything!”

Saying this, another can of Soda Pop appeared in his hand. He tossed it to Jodel. “Try a Muggle drink!”

Jodel caught the Soda Pop, a flicker of surprise in his eyes. He couldn’t tell whether Allen was naturally gifted or had been pretending to be weak all along—how effortlessly he moved within the Mind Chamber.

Meanwhile, Allen had already begun exploring his memories to study Ancient Magical Script. A vast light screen appeared in the space, frozen with Ancient Magical Script.

As Allen immersed himself in the Ancient Magical Script on the screen, a voice suddenly came from beside him.

“Is this Ancient Magical Script? I’ve never seen it written this way before,” Jodel walked over to Allen, frowning at the screen. “You created this Mind Chamber just to look at this? And where did you find so much Ancient Magical Script? Did you discover a primitive Ancient Magical Script ruin?”

This was the most Allen had ever heard Jodel say at once, and now he noticed something odd.

“You understand Ancient Magical Script?” Allen asked, keeping his expression neutral.

“I have the memories of the Notebook Maker who studied Ancient Magical Script—but he gave up after just a few days. It’s too hard, let alone harnessing its power,” Jodel answered frankly.

“So you don’t really understand it. What a pity,” Allen said aloud, though inwardly he was delighted.

You don’t know Ancient Magical Script? That’s reassuring. Allen thought to himself.

Then he returned to studying the Ancient Magical Script on the screen...

Jodel, sensing the moment, fell silent. He frowned at Allen’s back, copied Allen’s earlier motion, pulled the tab, and took a cautious sip. He felt the peculiar burst of carbonation bubbles in his mouth—and his frown eased slightly...

The memory Allen displayed was from July’s observation of the Avian Transformation Spell on a Lei Niao’s eye—back then, Allen had turned a table into a wolf...

Today, Allen had studied Transformation Spells deeply. Though Professor McGonagall had not yet taught how to transform objects into animals, it wasn’t difficult for him—it was almost natural. Still, he couldn’t match her effortless mastery.

To turn the table into a wolf, he spent two full minutes preparing before successfully casting the spell.

Allen stared at the first parameter’s key-value set on the screen. The Ancient Magical Script parameters generated from his imagined transformation result numbered over ten thousand—these were merely the characteristics of the transformation outcome.

He had now mastered three or four hundred Ancient Magical Script characters, so he could recognize the meanings of some.

For instance, Allen now spotted a familiar Ancient Magical Script word: Color.

Then he recalled the description of the Mind Chamber in *Mastering Memories* and Jodel’s earlier advice.

He thought of it—and the Ancient Magical Script on the screen began to flow. Moments later, only the key-value pairs with the key “Color” remained.

Allen realized he had simply wished to retrieve all key-value pairs with the key “Color”—and the Mind Chamber had done exactly that.

There were dozens of such key-value pairs.

They belonged to various dictionaries, each with different values. Allen recognized one meaning: White.

Suddenly, he thought again—and all values tied to “Color” on the screen changed to “White.”

Watching the changes on the screen, Allen felt as if he’d just batch-edited an Excel table and saved it.

Looking at the altered Ancient Magical Script key-value pairs, Allen suddenly understood what he needed to do next.

He exited the Mind Chamber, letting his split consciousness return to his body.

He drew his wand and pressed its tip against the diary. He closed his eyes, focusing on the memories within. He quickly sensed them: one vast, heavy memory mass, and a few faint threads with a familiar feeling.

Allen had no interest in Jodel’s memory mass. He focused on the familiar threads, and soon found the one he had just modified. Then, like pulling a memory from his own mind, he extracted it from the diary.

A thin, mist-like white ribbon hung from the tip of his wand—that was the memory he had extracted.

Allen stared blankly at the memory. He pressed the wand tip to his temple. The moment it touched his skin, the memory vanished.

Inside his mind, Allen found the memory. It entered without discomfort, without resistance or adverse reaction—even after being altered.

Feeling the memory, Allen swiftly waved his wand and spoke the Transformation Spell at the table—

The table transformed successfully into a pure white wolf. Its entire body—eyes, nose, even tongue—was pure white.

Allen knew his guess was correct. He had not imagined the transformation result during the spell—he had focused solely on that memory—and yet the spell had succeeded.

Clearly, the correct set of Ancient Magical Script parameters could replace the need to imagine the transformation outcome.

Allen stared excitedly at the wolf, a creature never before seen. Then another thought struck him. He transformed his feather pen into a knife and sliced open the white wolf’s skin...

The flesh, which should have been pink, was now white. Allen dipped his finger in the wolf’s blood—it, too, was white.

Allen gazed at his creation with delight. Though the wolf looked like a mosaic, jarringly unnatural, he knew he had succeeded. His theory was right.

He could edit Ancient Magical Script parameters to DIY transformation outcomes!
