Chapter 130: Red Dragon Scales

~7 min read 1,235 words

Hermione also received a letter from her parents, and she read the entire text aloud to Harry, Ron, and Allen.

Hermione's parents allowed her to keep a cat, but she had to buy it in Diagon Alley during the summer break of her second year, so they told her to focus on her studies at Hogwarts for now.

Hermione was very happy about this, while Ron looked somewhat displeased, probably worrying that his pet rat, Scabbers, would be bullied by Hermione's future pet cat.

When Transfiguration class ended, Allen showed Newt's letter to Professor McGonagall, dispelling her concerns about Allen transforming dragon skin and dragon scales, after which Professor McGonagall approved Allen's application for magical materials.

The magical material Allen applied for this time was a dragon scale from a Chinese Fireball; Hogwarts stored many types of Chinese Fireball scales, and finally Allen chose a scale from a Chinese Fireball.

This scale was bright red, very smooth, and felt warm when held in the hand; if one listened carefully, one could vaguely sense the magical power contained within it.

After obtaining the scale, Allen did not immediately attempt his talent transformation, because through months of research, Allen discovered that his ability to influence the transformation result via his subconscious had a cooldown period, allowing him to influence the transformation result only once a week.

And he had just used up this opportunity yesterday; although he only transformed tiger skin, the opportunity was already spent.

So he could only wait patiently for a week before transforming again; he did not want to randomly obtain a fire-breathing gland from a dragon, and then, unable to control it, bring danger to himself and others...

A week passed very quickly.

Before going to sleep, Allen carefully took out that Chinese Fireball dragon scale, gripped it tightly in his left hand, held his wand tightly in his right hand, and filled his mind with the thought of transforming dragon skin and dragon scales.

Early the next morning, Allen felt something unusual; he felt warm all over, as if sitting by a furnace, yet this warmth did not make him feel hot...

He checked his body as usual and discovered that his entire body was covered in palm-sized red scales; beneath the scales was very tough dragon skin, and the scales on his face, fingers, and joints were even smaller but also denser.

Allen jumped off the bed and kept moving his body, discovering that although these scales were somewhat heavy, they were still within his body's tolerance and did not affect his agility.

Allen looked at his reflection in the mirror; the version of himself covered in fiery red scales exuded an eerie beauty.

He felt that at this very moment, he was somewhat like Iron Man; he was very satisfied with these scales and could feel the magical power contained within them.

He found a small knife and slowly stabbed at his palm, but the knife tip was firmly blocked by the scales and could not advance an inch.

Allen happily stroked the red scales on his body; the thick red scale armor gave him a great sense of security.

Allen did not make a fuss about transforming dragon skin and dragon scales; he only told his friends and Professor McGonagall.

Although the bright red scales all over his body were very eye-catching, neither the other young wizards nor the professors thought they were dragon scales; they simply believed that Allen had randomly obtained the scales of some kind of red lizard today.

At noon, Harry, Allen, Ron, and Hermione were passing through the entrance hall when they suddenly saw a small crowd gathered around the notice board, reading the words on a piece of parchment that had just been pinned up...

Seamus Finnigan and Dean Thomas looked very excited and beckoned them over.

"They're starting a Dueling Club!" Seamus said. "The first meeting is tonight."

Allen and Harry read the notice with great interest.

"Are we going?" Ron asked after reading the notice, just as they were heading toward the Great Hall.

Everyone agreed; although Allen did not like the way wizards duelled, he also wanted to learn more about the tactics used in wizard duels.

So, at eight o'clock in the evening, they hurried back to the Great Hall.

The long dining tables had vanished, and a gilded stage had appeared along one wall, illuminated by hundreds of floating candles above; the ceiling once again turned as black as velvet.

Almost the entire school had come, packed tightly together, everyone holding their own wands, faces full of excitement.

"I wonder who will be teaching us," Hermione asked as they squeezed sideways into the chattering crowd.

"Didn't Professor Flitwick say last class that he was a duelling champion when he was young? Maybe he'll be the one teaching us," Allen said after thinking for a moment.

Everyone thought Allen was very right.

"As long as it isn't—" Harry's words were cut off, turning into a groan, as Gilderoy Lockhart walked onto the stage, wearing robes of deep purple, radiating brilliance; the person beside him was none other than Snape, still wearing his usual black clothes.

Lockhart waved for everyone to quiet down.

Allen's face immediately darkened; although the red scales covering his face made it impossible to tell, he felt an urge to turn around and leave.

Gilderoy Lockhart enthusiastically introduced his ideas and purposes for founding this Dueling Club, while also introducing his assistant—the gloomy-faced Professor Snape.

Then he introduced the procedures and etiquette of duelling to the young wizards.

Finally, he and Professor Snape began a demonstration duel, but the moment the duel started, he was cleanly knocked down by Professor Snape, flew backward off the stage, crashed into the wall, and then slid down, curling up on the floor.

Allen couldn't help but cheer for Professor Snape's clean performance.

Dear reader, this chapter is not finished; there is another page^0^, and he suddenly felt that this Dueling Club was actually somewhat interesting.

Hermione jumped up and down on her tiptoes. "Do you think he's okay?" she asked, covering her mouth with her finger and screaming, looking very worried about Lockhart.

"Who cares!" Harry, Allen, and Ron said simultaneously.

Lockhart stumbled to his feet; his hat had fallen off, and his wavy curls stood straight up.

He shamelessly said a bunch of words to save face, while also belittling Professor Snape, who listened with a murderous expression on his face.

Lockhart also seemed to notice Snape's expression; he only heard him say: "The demonstration is over! Now I will go among you and divide you all into pairs. Professor Snape, please help as well..."

They moved through the crowd, pairing people up.

Snape first walked up to the four of Harry. "The Dream Team is breaking up!" he sneered. "Weasley, you can pair up with Finnigan."

Then he beckoned Malfoy over; Malfoy strutted over proudly, a triumphant smile on his face.

"Potter, Malfoy will be your partner," Professor Snape said gloomily.

Then he said to Malfoy: "Let's see just how much the famous Harry Potter is worth!"

Malfoy smiled even more triumphantly...

And Allen immediately pulled Harry behind him; ignoring Professor Snape's gloomy gaze, he looked at Malfoy with a challenging expression and said: "Malfoy, I challenge you; do you dare accept my challenge?"

Dear reader, this chapter is finished; wish you a pleasant reading experience! ^0^
