Chapter 131: First Battle! Dueling Club

Hot Recommendation:

Malfoy's eyes widened as he glared at Allen in anger; he hadn't expected Allen to jump in like this, and old and new grievances surged in his heart at once.

The young wizards around also noticed the commotion here and began to pay attention...

"Click! Click!" Colin's camera kept flashing.

Allen's move also left Harry bewildered; he grabbed Allen's arm and said, "You..."

Allen cut him off directly, slapped his chest once, producing a dull sound as the scales clashed, then gave Harry a look.

Harry instantly understood Allen's meaning, so he stopped arguing.

Facing this situation, Professor Snape's face grew even more gloomy; he opened his mouth and said, "Finis...", his tone as slow and deliberate as usual.

"Malfoy, are you afraid?" Allen looked at Malfoy and said quickly.

Professor Snape chanted spells quite fast, but his speech always carried that slow, deliberate tone; don't blame others for interrupting if you take so long to start speaking.

Pressure instantly fell on Malfoy; he felt as if everyone was staring at him, a situation that allowed no retreat.

"Who's afraid! Bring it on!" Malfoy said, sticking his neck out. "Don't think growing a body of disgusting scales can block my magic!"

Professor Snape looked at the situation, glanced indifferently at Allen, said nothing more, and waved his hand to signal them to the stage.

Malfoy and Allen walked onto the stage; Malfoy glared at Allen, unwilling to yield, while the other young wizards paired off against their opponents.

"Now, face your opponents," Professor Snape commanded, "bow!"

Both Malfoy and Allen complied.

"Raise your wands! Ready!" Professor Snape said, "Begin when I count to three!"

Allen and Malfoy raised their wands.

"One—Two—Three!"

Malfoy acted as soon as he counted "Two"; he suddenly raised his wand and quickly chanted the spell: "Petrificus Totalus!"

At this moment, Allen seemed not to have reacted yet; he appeared dazed, showing no response at all to Malfoy's spell.

A smile of victory appeared at the corner of Malfoy's mouth; he knew the power of his spell—once Allen was hit by the spell, he would be at Malfoy's mercy.

The spell struck Allen smoothly; a hiss rose from the crowd. People hadn't expected Allen, who had just thrown such harsh words, to be hit by the spell like this, controlled—the contrast was too great.

But Harry, Hermione, and Ron showed no sign of worry at all, and a flicker of surprise flashed across Professor Snape's face.

At this moment, Allen moved; he lightly tapped the spot struck by the curse and said contemptuously, "Is that all?"

"Tarantallegra!" Malfoy quickly cast another jinx; Allen still made no move to dodge, the spell struck him smoothly again, and Allen showed no reaction at all.

Now everyone could see that the scales on Allen's body were unusual.

Malfoy was somewhat at a loss.

At this moment, Allen made an unexpected move; he gently sheathed his wand and assumed a charging stance.

Malfoy grew even more panicked; he roared, "Serpensortia!" The tip of his wand exploded; under the terrified gaze of the young wizards, a long black snake suddenly shot out, landing heavily on the floor between them, then raised its head, ready to attack.

The crowd screamed and quickly retreated backward, clearing space.

Allen was unaffected by this venomous snake; he charged toward Malfoy. The snake in between bit Allen's leg, yet Allen seemed to feel nothing; he stepped heavily on the snake, and the snake simply turned into a wisp of black smoke and vanished...

His speed did not decrease because of it.

Malfoy seemed to want to cast some spells, but by then Allen had already charged to his front; then, under Malfoy's terrified gaze, Allen landed a right hook on his face.

Malfoy was knocked straight to the ground by this flying punch; his wand flew from his hand. He clumsily covered his left face, tears welling in his eyes, and kept retreating backward.

"Stop quickly! Allen!" Gilderoy Lockhart jumped up and down in the crowd.

The people around were stunned by Allen's clean, decisive punch.

Allen smiled and bowed.

After straightening up, he looked around the hall and found the entire hall had turned into chaos.

Moreover, he discovered he was not the only one choosing hand-to-hand combat; especially among those paired together from Slytherin and Gryffindor, many had thrown away their wands and chosen to fight hand-to-hand.

Lockhart checked the results of the duel in the crowd, letting out exclamations: "Ah! Hold it tight, you need to stop the bleeding—"

"Stop!" Suddenly, Snape's huge voice echoed through the hall; the students finally stopped fighting, and many lay panting on the ground...

The hall returned to silence.

In this solemn silence, Professor Snape spoke in his characteristic tone: "Wizard dueling is a time-honored tradition; through the evolution of time, after eliminating some bloodshed and unsavory rules, we have tamed it within a cage, making dueling a means to display a wizard's own charm."

Professor Snape paused as he spoke, scanning the entire hall of disheveled young wizards: "Crude hand-to-hand combat, waving wands foolishly like trolls—is this displaying your own charm?"

Speaking thus, Professor Snape's gaze fell upon the young wizards of Gryffindor House, brimming with mockery.

Allen listened as Professor Snape, for once, expounded his views on dueling; although Snape was mocking him, he could sense Professor Snape's respectful attitude toward dueling.

The young wizards fell silent; the atmosphere became solemn and oppressive.

At this moment, Lockhart jumped out again: "Yes! This won't do; it's all too unfriendly!"

Then he ran to Professor Snape and said to him: "Severus, we must stop the students from doing this... I mean, we could call a pair of students to the stage to demonstrate."

Professor Snape, whose speech had been interrupted, merely twitched the corner of his mouth noncommittally.

"How about Finis and Potter?" Lockhart suggested.

Professor Snape looked coldly at Allen; Allen instantly had a bad feeling.

"Potter's skill is inadequate!" Snape evaluated maliciously. "Finis is passable, but his scales today seem somewhat special, so he needs a suitable opponent..."

Lockhart dared not contradict Professor Snape: "Then who do you think is more suitable?"

"How about choosing me, Professor?" At this moment, the Weasley twins suddenly raised their hands, but Professor Snape ignored them; his gaze swept through the ranks of Slytherin...

He pointed at someone in Slytherin and made a gesture.

"Come up!" Professor Snape commanded.

"Yes, Professor."

The other party immediately stepped forward.

Allen narrowed his eyes.

A fifth-year student of Slytherin House.

Landon Rosier.
