Chapter 142: The Blade Leopard's First Battle

~7 min read 1,313 words

Allen finally began to carefully observe the three giant spider corpses on the ground.

Each was as big as a calf, with eight eyes and eight legs, black and bristly, like massive creatures, their entire bodies covered in thick black fur; when their legs extended to both sides of their bodies, the span could reach fifteen feet. They had a pair of massive chelicerae, the tips of which looked extremely sharp, shimmering with a chilling light, and on them were green fluids suspected to be venom...

They were indeed an ugly-looking, highly aggressive, pack-hunting predatory animal.

Then he said to Firenze, "If you don't want them, may I collect a few things?"

Firenze seemed to see through Allen's thoughts, but he didn't mind. "Do as you please! If these things are useful to you."

Allen quickly commanded the Blade Leopard to go up and use its sharp claws to harvest the fangs from the three giant spiders.

The reason for collecting the fangs was that he had used similar magical materials in Potions class.

Then he had the Blade Leopard place the fangs in the snow and scrub them clean repeatedly.

Finally, he transformed a piece of tree bark into a piece of cotton cloth, wrapped the fangs inside it, and kept them safely on his person.

Firenze watched Allen's entire operation with great interest and sighed, "Although you humans cannot see the future, your magic is truly convenient."

Then he glanced at the Blade Leopard again and said, "It seems wizards' magic has advanced again. Is this your latest magical achievement? It looks very powerful."

Allen just smiled foolishly and did not take up Firenze's topic.

"Do you still want to go clean up giant spiders?" Allen quickly changed the subject.

"It's getting late; I'm preparing to return." Firenze seemed to see through Allen's inner thoughts; he looked up at the stars in the sky.

"Don't! How about we go clean up a few more giant spiders!" Allen proposed somewhat urgently.

As soon as he finished saying this, he noticed Firenze looking at him with a half-smile...

"I just want to help you clean up the giant spiders; maintaining the ecological balance of the Forbidden Forest is everyone's responsibility!" Allen said dejectedly.

"These spiders still pose a great threat to you, an underage wizard. You don't need to help!" Firenze did not have high hopes for Allen.

Allen was rendered speechless by Firenze's words; he suddenly thought of the Blade Leopard by his side.

"I have this. This is the latest research achievement of wizards, extremely powerful. Dealing with hibernating giant spiders will definitely be no problem!" Allen commanded the Blade Leopard to walk to the front and patted the armor on its body, making a "clang-clang" sound.

Firenze looked at the armor and sharp blades on the Blade Leopard and became somewhat hesitant.

"Actually, us cleaning up the giant spiders is enough! You don't need to get involved." Firenze was still not entirely reassured.

"How about this: you take me to find a few giant spiders, and I'll use my Blade Leopard to deal with them and try it out." Allen was still unwilling to give up this source of income and continued to pester Firenze.

Finally, Firenze reluctantly agreed to Allen's request.

"This basin is the center of giant spider activity. We are currently on the edge of this basin. The closer we go to the center of the basin, the more giant spiders there are, and the larger they are. It is said that in the center of the basin, there is a giant spider as big as Hagrid's hut." Firenze slowly introduced the situation to Allen.

"Every winter, giant spiders enter hibernation. This is the best time for us to hunt them. Giant spiders usually make their nests under tree roots; the hot air from their breathing leaves small holes on the snow surface."

"Look! There is a row of small holes under that tree ahead. Yes, that tree!" Firenze suddenly grabbed Allen and pointed to a large tree, whispering.

Allen stretched out his neck and summoned a white orb of light before he could clearly see the small holes under the tree...

"There are four giant spiders down here!" Firenze said somewhat hesitantly. "You can't deal with them; let me handle it!"

"No need! Let me handle it!" Allen said hurriedly, then he transformed a broken tree trunk nearby into a Blade Leopard.

Firenze finally revealed an expression of astonishment.

"Don't worry. I will stand with you and only remotely command these two Blade Leopards." Allen assured him.

Firenze nodded gently, drew an arrow from the quiver on his body, and gently nocked it on the bow.

Allen began to command the Blade Leopards to start digging down along the small holes in the snow. Soon, a "click-clack" sound began to come from beneath the snow.

"This is the sound made by the giant spiders' chelicerae. They are very angry now. Be careful; they are about to charge out!" Firenze said quickly.

Allen immediately ordered the two Blade Leopards to stop digging and strike an attacking posture nearby.

A giant spider as big as a carriage horse crawled out, but its movements were rather stiff, obviously affected by hibernation. Its pair of sharp chelicerae rapidly clapped against each other, making a "click-clack" sound, and its eyes fixed on Allen and Firenze.

"What are their weak points?" Allen asked.

"The head. However, you can also attack their soft abdomens. Their heads are very hard; the arrow must be shot from very close range to penetrate..." Firenze gave his advice without holding anything back.

But the next moment, he was unable to speak. A Blade Leopard silently pounced from the side; claws like daggers, shimmering silver, extended from the thick pads of its feet and stabbed into the giant spider's head as if a hot knife were cutting through butter...

The giant spider's long legs thrashed wildly, leaving chaotic traces on the snow. Then, this terrifying creature died silently without even figuring out what was happening.

The other three giant spiders all crawled out at once. The "click-clack" sound continuously echoed through the Forbidden Forest under the night sky, sounding especially terrifying.

The two Blade Leopards fearlessly pounced on them; their shimmering silver armor was also very conspicuous in the night...

These three giant spiders were much more alert this time, and their movements were much more agile. Their bodies were three times the size of the Blade Leopards. Relying on their physical advantage, they extended their long spider legs to attack the Blade Leopards.

One Blade Leopard failed to dodge in time (actually, Allen's control was not yet proficient, and the action logic had not been refined enough); it was struck on the body by a spider leg. The spider's long leg hitting the Blade Leopard's armor produced a crisp sound. The Blade Leopard was knocked to the ground. Many sharp spikes on the spider leg were blocked by the armor on the Blade Leopard's body. The next moment, this attacking spider leg was severed by the Blade Leopard...

The other one was even more decisive; it directly rammed its head into the giant spider's head. The horn on the Blade Leopard's head stabbed into the giant spider's head as if cutting through tofu. This giant spider died instantly...

The four terrifying giant spiders were killed one by one by the Blade Leopards within just a few minutes, with no room for struggle at all; they passed away one by one quite peacefully...

The armor of the two Blade Leopards was splattered with the giant spiders' green blood and venom, but the next moment, these liquids were actually absorbed by the armor. The armor on their bodies once again became as smooth and new as before...
