Chapter 189: Dobby's Visit

~6 min read 1,125 words

Allen immediately became alert; who would appear out of nowhere in their dormitory in the middle of the night?

Moreover, he was quite familiar with that sudden explosion just now; it sounded like the noise made by the Aurors from the Ministry of Magic when they Apparated over during the summer vacation when he opened the doors of Gringotts; he had a very deep impression of that sound.

The footsteps of this stranger appeared out of nowhere, so this stranger must have also Apparated over. Allen thought silently in his heart.

Having figured this out, Allen's heart grew even more solemn.

As everyone knows, Hogwarts is protected by many ancient spells, making Apparition and Disapparition impossible.

Yet this stranger who suddenly appeared in the dormitory managed to do this, showing his power was extremely great; however, what puzzled Allen was that this stranger's footsteps were very light, even lighter than those of them, twelve-year-old young wizards, a point he could not fathom.

But he had no time to think so much; he carefully picked up his wand, quietly pointing it toward the direction from which the footsteps came, preparing to launch an attack first if necessary.

The next moment, he heard that uninvited guest snap his fingers; a distinct magical energy suddenly appeared, this magical energy flushing through the dormitory at an extremely fast speed...

Before Allen could react, he had already been hit; his heart gave a start, but next he felt no abnormality in his body, yet he heard Neville's snoring grow louder and louder...

Now he was even more at a loss.

Then that uninvited guest spoke; he seemed to be speaking from the position of Harry's bed.

"Harry Potter, Dobby has come to see you." It was a high-pitched voice.

Harry was woken up by the uninvited guest; Allen grew even more tense; this uninvited guest was actually here to find Harry, and matters concerning Harry were all worth taking seriously.

"Dobby?" That was Harry's voice, sounding very surprised.

"Ah—the great Harry Potter actually remembers poor and humble Dobby." That high-pitched voice became excited; Allen even heard some crying tones.

However, this also made Allen relax; judging from the content of the conversation, this uninvited guest seemed to have no ill will toward Harry.

"How did you get into Hogwarts? Into my dormitory?" Harry spoke in a lowered voice, "My friends will hear."

"Mr. need not worry; I just cast a spell on them; this spell causes them no harm, it will only let them sleep quietly until tomorrow morning, Mr. just rest assured." Dobby said somewhat cunningly.

Having heard this, Allen understood somewhat: it seemed the spell Dobby just cast was a mental-type spell, and he happened to be immune to mental-type spells, so after being hit by that spell just now, he felt nothing.

"Then what business do you have finding me?" Harry asked.

"I have come to tell the great Mr. Harry Potter good news; I have become a free little elf." Dobby's voice became excited again.

"Congratulations!" Harry's voice also became somewhat excited, but mostly surprised, "How did you do it?"

"Dobby's master, oh... no... Dobby's former master gave Dobby clothes!" Dobby started sobbing again, "Dobby is free..."

Harry hurried to comfort the excited Dobby; Allen also took the opportunity to peek at Dobby through the gap in the canopy.

A small monster was crouching in front of Harry's bed crying; the small monster had two bat-like large ears, a pair of protruding green eyes as big as tennis balls, a long and slender nose, and wore a very dirty old pillowcase on its body...

This was a house-elf! Allen immediately made the judgment.

"Dobby's former master has been paying attention to news from Hogwarts for the past year, but he waited a year and did not wait for any news to come out; recently, because of this matter, he flew into a rage many times, each time taking it out on poor Dobby!" Dobby burst into tears again,

Crystal tears flowed continuously from his tennis-ball-sized eyes.

Harry comforted him again.

"This morning he got angry again, then one of his buttons accidentally fell off, then he casually handed it to Dobby; you must know that to make a house-elf free, one must give them clothes, and a button is part of clothes; the master gave Dobby a button, so Dobby is free." Dobby finally finished saying all this; after speaking, he carefully took out a golden button to show Harry, but from Allen's angle, nothing could be seen.

However, Allen also felt speechless at this house-elf's train of thought; although this matter was logically fine, thinking about it always felt strange.

Harry carefully looked at that button in Dobby's hand, "There is the Malfoy family crest on the button; your master is a member of the Malfoy family?" Harry keenly discovered this point.

Dobby trembled, "I don't know, don't ask me!" Dobby said with difficulty.

But Dobby's expression already explained everything.

Harry's expression also became solemn, "At the start of the term you gave me a warning, and tried every way to stop me from coming to Hogwarts; you said at that time someone was plotting a conspiracy, that the most terrible thing would happen at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry this year; the planner of that conspiracy was your master, right?"

Dobby painfully held his head and nodded with difficulty; the amplitude of the nod was very small, impossible to see without looking closely.

"But this year is almost over and nothing happened!" Harry asked in confusion, "Is your information wrong?"

"No! No! Dobby would absolutely never lie to the great Harry Potter; I heard them discuss this matter several times, it absolutely cannot be wrong; the reason why no situation occurred is that my former master suspects it was caused by Harry Potter's friends!" Harry said urgently.

"My friends? I have many friends; which one are you talking about?" Harry asked somewhat puzzled.

Dobby said nothing, just turned his head to look down at Allen's bed.

"Allen, you mean Allen?" Harry asked in surprise.

"Yes! Great Harry Potter, his friend is equally great!" Dobby said proudly.

"He held the dark magical artifact left by the Dark Lord for a year without incident; my former master suspects he stopped all this." Dobby whispered.

Harry looked somewhat surprised toward Allen's bed.

"What dark magical artifact is it?" Harry asked urgently.

At this moment, a sound of footsteps suddenly came from the dormitory entrance.

"Dobby must go!" The little elf was terrified, panting as he spoke.

Only the sound of a very loud explosion was heard, and Dobby disappeared from the dormitory...
