Chapter 203: Allen with Eight Legs
Time quickly arrived at August 31st; Allen had long received notice that the Ministry of Magic would send two cars to take Harry to King's Cross Station, and he could ride along in those same cars to King's Cross Station.
Allen was not at all polite about this; last year when he went to school, his talent transformation had produced penguin legs, and he could only trouble Professor Flitwick to take him to Platform Nine and Three-Quarters.
This year, having a dedicated car for pickup and drop-off would greatly avoid such a situation; he hoped tomorrow's talent transformation wouldn't conjure up any more nonsense.
But thinking about it, such a possibility wasn't very great either, so that evening Allen packed his luggage early, took his wand, and went to sleep...
The moment he woke up the next day, Allen felt something was wrong; he felt a very strange sensation in his legs.
He felt the number of legs his brain controlled had multiplied several times over; this was a very magical sensation, and he also felt the sensation in his legs had become very strange; he felt his legs seemed wrapped in a layer of hard shell.
Even though Allen had seen many storms and waves, facing such a strange sensation, he actually felt a bit timid; for a moment, he didn't dare to lift the thin blanket covering him to see what had been randomly assigned today.
He controlled his legs today to clap against each other, and a crisp "click-clack" collision sound came from beneath the thin blanket...
Allen's bad premonition grew stronger and stronger, but as time ticked by second by second, he understood he had to face all of this.
He suddenly threw off the thin blanket covering him, and an incredibly bizarre scene appeared before his eyes...
Today he no longer had two legs; he now had eight legs...
From the position where his thighs used to be, four small legs extended to the left and right; each small leg had four segments, and the final segment resembled a small iron hook; a layer of hard shell covered the legs.
Allen saw at a glance what he had been randomly assigned today; today he had been randomly assigned crab legs...
This talent transformation once again exceeded his understanding; he hadn't expected talent transformation to be so straightforward; crabs have eight legs, and randomly assigned to him, they were still eight!
Allen felt he was truly rendered speechless by talent transformation.
If things went on like this, if one day he randomly assigned a three-headed dog's head, would he also transform three heads?!
But transforming three heads wouldn't be bad either; when he had one head, he could only control two transformed beasts; so when he had three heads, could he control six transformed beasts? This was the simplest way to increase one's power.
He just didn't know if this world had a nine-headed snake; if it did, he could control even more transformed beasts...
Allen indulged in such fantasies for quite a while before realizing how bizarre his thought was; he hurriedly drove this strange thought out of his mind...
Then he looked at his eight legs and began to worry.
Nezha had eight arms that could greatly increase combat power; as for me, eight legs! The problem is these eight legs aren't particularly flexible; forget about trying to make a kicking motion, Allen pondered in his heart.
Fortunately, these eight legs grew from his hips, not from the sides of his torso; otherwise, he could only crawl on the ground to walk.
Allen carefully got out of bed; sure enough, just as he had predicted, because his eight legs grew from his hips, he could still continue to walk upright; each of these eight legs was over a meter long, capable of supporting his body.
He wanted to walk to the only mirror in the room to see his current appearance, but he terrifiedly discovered he couldn't walk forward...
His brain kept issuing commands to the legs to walk forward, but the legs became at a loss, utterly unable to execute the commands issued by his brain.
Allen helplessly stopped; he carefully observed and tested his legs for today; he discovered the structure of crab legs was quite special; the joints could only move up and down, so these legs could only help crabs move sideways, not help them move forward and backward.
He suddenly remembered a Chinese idiom—heng xing ba dao (to act tyrannically while moving sideways),
which seemed to describe the way crabs walk; it seemed today he could only walk sideways.
He tried walking sideways for a few steps, discovered he could indeed walk sideways, and quickly learned how to adjust the direction of his body.
Soon he walked sideways to the mirror, and the hard crab legs striking the floor made a crisp sound.
He discovered that in this state he had become much shorter; if he hadn't grown quite a bit this year, then today Professor Flitwick would once again have the opportunity to look down on him.
Eight walking legs powerfully supported his body, but no matter how he looked at it, it felt wrong.
Just as Allen was struggling, he suddenly heard the shop door being knocked; he quickly found a bedsheet to cover his legs, then walked sideways out of the room, discovering a furry head had appeared in the shop window outside—it was Hermione.
Allen hesitated for a moment but still opened the shop door; Hermione stepped in in one stride.
"Didn't you say to gather at the Leaky Cauldron at 9 o'clock? It's already 8:55; why are you still draped in a bedsheet and haven't packed up? What exactly is going on?" Hermione said somewhat anxiously.
Then she noticed something was wrong; "Why have you become so much shorter?" Hermione said in surprise.
"Did you randomly assign penguin legs again today?" Hermione recalled last year's incident.
"Even more terrible than last year!" Allen said with a tearful face.
Hermione fell silent; she couldn't imagine what could be more terrible than last year's penguin legs.
"Then how do you plan to get to Hogwarts? Ask the professors for help like last year?" Hermione said helplessly.
Allen was also troubled by this matter; "I don't really want to trouble the professors," Allen said somewhat hesitantly.
"What exactly did you randomly assign today?" Hermione finally couldn't restrain her curiosity.
Allen thought for a moment, felt Hermione wasn't an outsider, and moreover, she could help think of a solution, so he pulled away the bedsheet covering his legs.
Hermione gasped in shock, her eyes widened in terror, and then she fled without looking back.
Allen watched Hermione's fleeing figure, his heart full of helplessness...
But time was indeed getting late; he had to make plans early, but he currently had no good ideas, so he first returned to his room to tidy his luggage, then cleaned the shop, and finally bid farewell to Mr. Ollivander through the door.
When he finished all of this, he discovered Hermione had actually returned.
She took something out of her bag and handed it to Allen; Allen took it and looked, discovering it was Harry's Invisibility Cloak.
"You should still go with us; when the time comes, you can wear Harry's Invisibility Cloak to avoid the Muggles at the station," Hermione said, panting with sweat on her forehead.
Allen looked at the smooth Invisibility Cloak in his hand; he felt this plan had very high feasibility...
