Chapter 208: Acceptance and Sorting
Allen was stunned, looking uncertainly at Professor McGonagall and Professor Dumbledore.
"Originally, we planned to guide you to become an Animagus in your fifth year, but your growth speed has surprised me, and today's events have served as a reminder, prompting me to make this decision." Professor Dumbledore looked deeply at Allen.
Allen did not quite understand why Professor Dumbledore had so much confidence in him, letting him learn how to become an Animagus so early; after all, becoming an Animagus was an extremely difficult thing!
Professor Dumbledore seemed to see the thought within Allen's heart. "You are naturally gifted. The reason geniuses are called geniuses is that they can accomplish what ordinary people cannot. You must have confidence in yourself."
"Although I am not an Animagus, I know Animagi very well. You are the wizard I have ever seen most suited to become an Animagus." Professor Dumbledore smiled as he looked at Allen.
Allen was left somewhat bewildered; this was the first time since her transmigration that someone had praised her so highly, and moreover, that person was the greatest white wizard of this century.
"Mr. Finis, Professor Dumbledore is right. I am now formally inviting you to join my Transfiguration Club. Please consider it seriously!" Professor McGonagall said sternly.
There was no need to consider such a matter at all; he readily accepted Professor McGonagall's invitation. He had not been hesitating just now; today's events had truly exceeded his expectations.
Allen had forgotten how he returned to the dormitory. He only remembered that there were few people in the corridors of Hogwarts along the way, and the common room was also nearly empty; it seemed the day's journey plus encountering Dementors had left everyone quite exhausted.
When he returned to the dormitory, he found his roommates had already gone to bed early, yet Allen felt not a trace of sleepiness. He walked to the desk, summoned a light orb, and then unfolded a blank notebook.
He wanted to sort out the things he needed to do currently:
1. Continue modifying the Basilisk's memory to strengthen control over the Basilisk.
This was something left undone during the summer vacation; now that he was back at school and had a place, he needed to catch up quickly.
2. Continue advancing the research on Transformed Beasts.
This was mainly to verify his hypothesis from the end of last term. He wanted to add parts and organs of various magical creatures to the Transformed Beasts to enhance their combat power, but this required him to have absolute control over the Basilisk.
3. Research on magical intelligence.
Judging from the clues currently mastered, it involves Memory Magic and the Patronus Charm. Memory Magic is understandable; after all, what Mr. Weasley wanted to achieve at the time was an autopilot function, so using Memory Magic in such a situation makes sense, and there is already a ready-made example of magical intelligence produced by Memory Magic. But why the Patronus Charm?
He now knows that the Patronus Charm is a deep magic; this is what Yoder told him. What surprised Allen most was that although Yoder knew of the Patronus Charm, he actually did not master it. After all, this was the first time Yoder admitted there was a spell he could not master.
Although it is unclear what relationship magical intelligence has with the Patronus Charm, once the Patronus Charm is learned, the matter will likely become clear.
Since Yoder had no memory of learning the Patronus Charm, this caused Allen to lose the path to learning this spell, so finding a path to learn this spell has become a very important matter.
4. Become an Animagus.
To be honest, he was quite interested in this matter and had already begun to look forward to the Transfiguration Club on Friday night.
Finally, Allen remembered Yoder's new name. Although it was just a coincidence, no one in this world understood the meaning contained in this name better than him.
Rumble Yoder!
Allen in his previous life was a loyal LOL player; he clearly knew what Rumble represented.
Rumble is a temperamental Yoder youth inventor. With only his own hands and a pile of scrap iron, he built a huge mech, equipped with unconventional weapons such as electric harpoons and burning rockets.
Was something in the unseen reminding Allen that Yoder was most suited to become someone who commanded war machines, and those war machines were the various Transformed Beasts he researched?
Although the Transformed Beasts were still relatively powerful, his current stage of intelligence could simultaneously control only two, and Yoder in soul state was indeed a very suitable candidate to command these Transformed Beasts.
Perhaps it was time to design a Transformed Beast tailored for Yoder. The Transformed Beasts at his current stage were generally treated as consumables, with relatively single functions, whereas the Transformed Beast designed for Yoder must have more comprehensive functions to fully utilize Yoder's control ability.
Perhaps he could reference Rumble's flamethrower from LOL. If he could install parts and organs of magical creatures onto the Transformed Beast, adding two fire dragon glands for spraying fire to the Transformed Beast's arms, letting the Rumble of this world also spit fire, just thinking about it was fun. A sudden malicious whim arose in Allen's heart.
Perhaps in the future, designing Transformed Beasts could reference some elements from games in his previous life. Although Hex Technology was not as shocking as Goblin Technology, it was definitely worth having.
The new school year began just like this.
Allen sat at the Gryffindor long table in the Great Hall, looking at the newly issued schedule. He felt that third year was indeed different; this year he had three extra courses—Care of Magical Creatures, Divination, and Ancient Runes.
His schedule thus became somewhat crowded.
"Wow, great, we have several new classes today," Hermione said happily; she had just received her schedule too.
"Hermione," Ron said, looking at the schedule over her shoulder. He frowned. "They messed up your schedule. Look—they've scheduled ten whole classes for you in one day. There isn't enough time."
"I'll figure it out. I've already talked it over with Professor McGonagall," Hermione said, rolling her eyes at him.
"But look," Ron laughed. "See this morning's? Nine o'clock—Divination, and below that, nine o'clock—Muggle Studies, and—"
Ron leaned closer to the schedule, unable to believe it. "Look—below that is Arithmancy, nine o'clock. I mean, I know you're brilliant, Hermione, but no one is brilliant enough to take three classes at the same time. How can you attend three classes simultaneously?"
"Don't be silly," Hermione said irritably. "Of course I can't attend three classes at the same time."
"Well, then—"
"Pass me the jam," Hermione said.
"But—"
"Oh, Ron, my schedule is a bit full; what does that have to do with you?" Hermione said sharply. "I told you, I've already talked it over completely with Professor McGonagall."
