Chapter 1288: Farming for a Lifetime?
With the Dragon God's words, Anthony suddenly felt everything retreating. His body changed rapidly, regressing from his Star God form back to an undead, then to a human, then to an infant, a soul, and finally back to an elderly priest...
Everything around him flashed back through the memories of his countless past lives.
"Roar!" Ang shouted. *Boom! * Anthony's memory regression snapped. He woke up from his daze and instinctively touched his body, feeling warmth. His Star God form was gone, replaced by a human body.
He scanned his consciousness... Anthony found he couldn't extend his mind; his mental power had become incredibly weak, unable to even leave his body.
Anthony had to manifest an arcane mirror to look at his face, finding it was the life where he had nearly become Pope.
Anthony had reincarnated countless times. With his accumulated experience and his skills as a charlatan, he had always thrived in the Church of Light, once even nearly becoming Pope.
But back then, he hadn't known the gods of light were dead. He feared that if he became Pope, his true nature would be exposed to the gods—the Pope is the god's representative, and his thoughts and memories are transparent to them.
So he had killed himself to reincarnate.
And now, the Dragon God had looked at him once and reversed his body to that life. This was a gaze cast eight million years ago, yet it had reversed his body by over a thousand years. How terrifying was that?
Ang roared, his claw swiping forward. It looked like an ordinary strike that missed, but a scale suddenly shattered off the Dragon God's shoulder.
An attack from eight million years in the future intersected in this space-time domain, striking the God of Time from eight million years ago.
The Dragon God glanced at his shattered scale, motionless, and said, "My apologies. I only wanted to see what had happened. You are not dragon-kin; why do you possess my inheritance?"
Negris suddenly said, "I am dragon-kin! I am dragon-kin! Ancestor, I am dragon-kin! I am a Huang Tong Dragon, Negris Nefarian Uzmoslafalitbabu..."
"Huang Tong Dragon? What kind of dragon is that?" the Dragon God asked, confused. Eight million years ago, there were clearly no Huang Tong or Bronze dragons; they were all cultivated by the Dragon God after he reached the Chaos Plane.
Negris explained, then continued, "Due to some coincidences, Ang used my scales as a medium and used the Ultimate Transformation Art to turn into a Dragon-Man, awakening the dragon bloodline."
After the explanation, the Dragon God was nearly stunned: "You mean he is a skeleton who used a transformation art? I..."
The Dragon God wanted to curse, but remembering Ang's strike, he realized this wasn't someone to mess with, so he swallowed the words and said, "You mean, I failed?"
Negris asked helplessly, "I don't even know what you were trying to do. If you meant to leave your bloodline in the void, then congratulations, you succeeded. Now dragons are all over the major planes. Ancestor, you have spread your seed across the world."
Anthony glanced at Negris, thinking, *Since when did Negris learn to be so sarcastic? *
The Dragon God narrowed his eyes, instinctively wanting to "look" at Negris, but was stopped by Ang's raised claw. If he dared to use that time-reversal again, he would surely be swiped by Ang.
Giving up, the Dragon God asked, "Am I dead?"
Negris said, "Yes, you are."
The Dragon God said gloomily, "Then I failed. Why did I fail? What about the Primordial Divine Light? Did it hatch?"
"The Primordial Divine Light exploded," Negris said.
"The Primordial Divine Light exploded... the only one capable of making it explode is me..." the Dragon God muttered to himself.
"It wasn't you who made it explode. It likely failed to hatch and exploded on its own," Negris said.
"Exploded on its own? Impossible!" The Dragon God looked stunned and cursed in the dragon tongue.
Anthony whispered, "What did he say?"
Negris whispered back, "He said it's impossible, then cursed, and said I'm lying to him."
"Ask him what he wants to do? The Star God here hasn't exploded yet; he still has a chance," Anthony whispered.
Negris shouted, "What exactly do you want to do? The Star God here hasn't exploded yet; you still have a chance!"
The Dragon God stared at Negris for a long time before sighing in despondency: "The Star God is being controlled. I originally wanted to try and save them, but alas, it seems I failed. I am already dead; even if there is a chance, it has nothing to do with me. I leave the rest to you."
With the Dragon God's words, a wisp of a phantom drifted from his body toward Ang.
Ang took the phantom, and the next moment, the previously frozen Dragon God moved, passing through space in the same reverse posture he had used to enter, exiting the domain.
The void returned to nothingness, leaving behind only a golden scale, a testament to the Dragon God's visit.
"Wait? A scale?" Negris realized. Was that scale Ang had swiped off still there?
Ang grabbed the scale and squeezed it. It was real—a real dragon scale.
"How is that possible? Wasn't that just a projection across time and space? Why would a scale be left behind?" Negris asked in disbelief.
When Ang adjusted time without involving matter, it was easy. But when matter was involved—like Wulanuo turning into an egg—Ang felt "weight." How could a scale appear out of thin air?
Urusman suddenly said, "Wait, look at the cross-section. It doesn't look like it just fell off; the dragon grime on it has fossilized. It looks like it's been here for millions of years."
"What do you mean? You're saying that Ang's strike pierced eight million years, swiped a scale off the Dragon God, and that scale floated here for millions of years until we found it? History was changed by Ang? This scale didn't exist in this space before?" Negris asked.
Urusman nodded: "Yes. When Ang was adjusting time, this scale didn't exist. But now it has appeared. The only possibility is that Ang's strike just now changed history."
"Damn—changing history? Will this conversation change history too? What if the Dragon God doesn't go to the Chaos Plane? Then will I cease to exist? Will Ang never get the dragon scale, and never leave the Palace of Eternal Rest, just farming for a lifetime?"
