Chapter 1612

~6 min read 1,192 words

The method is old but practical—back when polluting the Azure God Star, Seeing Ange still needed to prop up the ramparts to protect Shama La, but now with the Pure Melt Fire, Shama La and Seraphim Luna are like fish in the sea, free and at ease.

The Pure Melt Fire is the impurity at the god star's core that cannot be melted away; it was forged in that environment, so it naturally fears neither the high temperature nor pressure inside the god star. Shama La and Seraphim Luna use it as their shells, making them far safer than when they were inside the Azure God Star.

So Seeing Ange threw them into the god star's interior and paid no further attention, fighting outside himself to draw the attention of Gamtzes Fortress, until the pollution became too great and Gamtzes Fortress noticed.

"What the hell is this?" Gamtzes Fortress went mad, wanting to strangled Shama La and Seraphim Luna inside, but he faced the same problem as with the Azure God Star—his thoughts could not exert power within his own interior.

The interior of a god star is essentially a mass of high-temperature, high-pressure energy, and thoughts are also energy waves. Although one's own thoughts are not consumed by one's own starflame, they are disturbed, making clear perception difficult, let alone positioning and annihilation.

Gamtzes Fortress's thoughts are undoubtedly a hundred times stronger than those of the Azure God Star, but his internal environment is also a hundred times worse, making it even harder to catch the enemy.

So he no longer had the leisure to attend to Seeing Ange—the giant spider slipped into his body, then turned and fled.

Because of the Pure Melt Fire, Shama La does not need Seraphim Luna to armor up for protection, so they split up, running amok everywhere, occasionally hurling a mass of fallen power to contaminate the nearby starflame, then slipping off to some unknown place.

They also occasionally gather some of this place's Pure Melt Fire to strengthen themselves.

However, soon the giant spider caught up—its body was huge, about half the size of a god star. It seized a position, drove its arthropod limbs inward, and struck roughly the right spot.

Once near enough, Gamtzes Fortress could use the giant spider as an anchor to clearly lock onto the enemy's position. Once locked by his star soul, even a star skull would flee, let alone a shell condensed from Pure Melt Fire.

But just as his thoughts were about to lock onto Shama La, a piece of red cloth unfolded before it, wrapping around his thoughts.

Gamtzes Fortress horrifiedly discovered his vision went black—his extending thoughts had lost a large segment, as the red cloth had severed a large portion of them.

"What the hell is this?" Gamtzes Fortress panickedly asked.

"That's your Star Canopy Cloth—don't you recognize it?" said the World Tree.

Gamtzes Fortress incredulously said: "Star Canopy Cloth? It just severed a segment of my thoughts—can my Star Canopy Cloth cut consciousness?"

"Probably when it wrapped you, something was printed on it. Be careful—the opponent may have mastered a consciousness-binding ability; once printed, it takes effect." warned the World Tree.

Gamtzes Fortress's heart shuddered, and his extending thoughts became cautious.

With poor visibility already, being extra cautious made finding Shama La and Seraphim Luna's traces even harder—let alone that red cloth.

During the stalemate, Seeing Ange caught up, threw a distant punch, and immediately half his body virtualized and shifted forward, gathering into his hand to form a spike—like a baton growing from his hand, a flick and it elongated.

Gamtzes Fortress divided his attention, and when the spike pierced his body, he squeezed hard, instantly snapping the spike.

This time, the snapped spike did not explode into a "sea urchin," but turned into a puddle of black fallen power.

"Ahhh!" Gamtzes Fortress roared in furious rage—equally polluting, if Shama La and Seraphim Luna's was just a misty breeze, Seeing Ange's thrust was a violent storm, completely on a different scale.

If left unchecked, Shama La and Seraphim Luna would need hundreds of years to fully pollute Gamtzes Fortress, but with Seeing Ange, just a dozen more strikes and he would become a fallen god star.

Seeing Ange's threat was clearly greater—the giant spider panicked, turned and charged out, again tangling with Seeing Ange, so Shama La and Seraphim Luna continued happily polluting the starflame.

Seeing Ange also gladly let Shama La and Seraphim Luna act—though his pollution speed was faster, it consumed Increasing Mist, while Shama La and Seraphim Luna only needed Faith Elemental Power.

With so much Increasing Mist, what's the point of manifesting anything useful? Wasting it here?

"Help quickly." Gamtzes Fortress roared at the World Tree.

"Can't help—he has two trees; you helping would be about the same. I'm nearly strangled by them." the World Tree said slowly.

Its battle with the sapling treemen had long been raging fiercely, the roots of all three sides nearly tangled into knots, constantly straining, and the World Tree had already lost count of how many roots it had snapped—but facing two, it remained at a disadvantage.

Unfortunately, the sapling treeman couldn't go all out, because Seeing Ange's true body wasn't here; otherwise, the World Tree would have long been torn in half by it and the treeman.

"Then hurry up and think of something—if this continues, I'll die." Gamtzes Fortress roared.

The World Tree laughed through tears: "What can I do? You can't beat the enemy—what can I do?"

"What are those two lumps inside me? Why does starflame get polluted wherever they pass? What power is this?" Gamtzes Fortress asked.

The World Tree hesitated: "It seems… it's faith power."

"Faith power? What is that?" Gamtzes Fortress asked, bewildered.

"It's the power formed when lifeforms in a plane worship something, condensing divinity and gathering faith." the World Tree explained.

"Plane… lifeforms in a plane worshipping something?" Gamtzes Fortress repeated dubiously—this power level was so low he could hardly believe it.

The World Tree said: "The power level is low, but pollution doesn't require high level—just enough filth. Besides, if a plane's god has low faith level, but if that god were as strong as a god star?"

"How could…" Gamtzes Fortress was about to say impossible, but immediately thought of Seeing Ange—Seeing Ange was obviously not a native god star; could the opponent be a plane god who ascended?

Fortunately he didn't ask, or learning that Seeing Ange upgraded from a vegetable skeleton would surely make him vomit three liters of blood.

"Regardless of whether he was once a plane god, he masters our countermeasure. Continuing like this, you're doomed." After a pause, the World Tree added:

"Do you remember saying that if you can't detonate the enemy's god star or break the Infinite Wall, you'd detonate your own body?"

"I remember, but… has it really come to this? You'll die." Detonating one's own body—Gamtzes Fortress wouldn't die, but the World Tree would certainly die.

"Don't worry about me—when it comes to that, you don't need to detonate yourself either. The enemy's god star is right ahead—ram into it."
