Chapter 793: I... I Just Guessed Randomly
Seeing the pitiful flesh giant, everyone reluctantly agreed to release the War Treant, the Pasture Treant, and the Petrified Treant to dig the earth, while Seeing Ange led a group down.
"Dig until the black stone is exposed? How big does it need to be?" the Pasture Treant was somewhat confused; it had only gone in to bask in the Eternal Divine Light, so why did it have to do so much work?
"Dig as big as the black stone is," Lord Nai Ge Li Si said.
"Then I'll have to dig up this entire forest, because this whole forest sits atop the Eternal Black Stone; didn't I tell you that before?" the Pasture Treant said.
"How is that possible? Is there really a black stone as big as a forest?" Lord Nai Ge Li Si said in shock.
Previously, the Pasture Treant had mentioned that the entire forest grew on the Eternal Black Stone, but everyone thought it was a bit of bragging, because from a mechanical perspective, a meteor only ten-plus kilometers in diameter would be enough to destroy all life in the Destruction Plane.
This forest spans several thousand kilometers in diameter; such a vast area of black stone, if it crashed into the plane, would surely cause the plane to cease to exist.
The Pasture Treant shrugged: "It really is that big; when it first crashed down, it might have been only ten-plus kilometers, but it grew larger and larger, expanding to its current volume. According to my estimation, it now occupies at least one-quarter of the plane's volume. During those centuries of expansion, the entire plane underwent violent changes; mountains and oceans took shape during that period."
The rest of the words were meaningless; everyone was already baffled by the word 'expansion'; a black stone ten-plus kilometers across crashing down and expanding into a colossal object occupying one-quarter of the plane's volume? Was this still a stone?
This was obviously not a stone; everyone's interest in it grew even greater, so they told the Pasture Treant to dig as much as possible, digging as large an area as it could.
"Are you crazy? I just wanted to bask in the Eternal Divine Light, yet you make me do all this; I even have to move the flowers, grass, and trees elsewhere. Do you know how huge this project is? You are kind... okay, no problem, leave it to me." Seeing three buckets of insect-ash liquid dumped in front of it, the Pasture Treant immediately changed its tune.
Having tasted a bit of the insect-ash liquid from the Petrified Treant, it knew very well the effects of this miraculous liquid; combined with an Eternal Divine Light bath, it could make withered wood bloom, old trees sprout, and regain youth.
After Seeing Ange and the others departed, the Pasture Treant happily extended its roots into the large buckets, slurping away, but soon felt two dark shadows loom over it; looking up, it saw the War Treant and the Petrified Treant. A gentle breeze rustled their treetops, making a rustling sound that conveyed some message.
The Pasture Treant, heart aching, divided the insect-ash liquid into three portions, one for each tree.
The treants, having received their 'payment,' immediately became active, shaking their heads vigorously, causing the leaves on their crowns to rustle.
However, after the War Treant shook a few times, the leaves on its head quickly fell off, leaving it a bald treant; the War Treant looked at its fallen leaves in confusion, wondering: It's not autumn yet; why are the leaves falling?
Seeing Ange and the others landed at the bottom of the sinkhole and saw an... octopus egg?
"Are you blind? Those are my whiskers, not octopus legs, you damn lizard!" the octopus egg transmitted the flesh giant's angry roar.
Lord Nai Ge Li Si cursed: "What's the difference? If an octopus leg grows on a chin, is it not an octopus? Not only is it an octopus egg, but one that cannot hatch."
The octopus egg raged: "Those are tentacles, tentacles, tentacles!! Not octopus legs, you damn lizard; I curse you to grow tentacles on your buttocks."
Seeing Ange's expression shifted, but in the end, he did not move.
A wisp of smoke rose from Lord Nai Ge Li Si, and a scream came from within the octopus egg: "Ah! My buttocks! The curse rebounded? Why?"
"Why? Of course because my mouth is sharper than yours, hehe; growing tentacles on your buttocks, and you still say you're not an octopus," Lord Nai Ge Li Si chuckled.
Just before the octopus egg was about to explode from anger, Anthony timely stopped this bickering; he was quite skilled at taking sides.
"What is your situation? Why did you change into this form?" Anthony asked.
"What else could it be? When I was still an egg, suddenly one day, a black stone crashed down, nearly smashing me; the yolk was scattered. With the yolk shattered, hatching was impossible; I could only reshape myself, and as I reshaped, I became what I am now," the octopus egg said gloomily.
"What about the humans whose consciousness you polluted? How did you do it?" Anthony asked.
"That's how I did it; my true form is Nightmare Shaye, and consciousness pollution is my innate talent," the octopus egg said.
"Hehe, if I didn't know Nightmare Shaye, I would have been fooled by you. Never mind, let's go; bury this pit," Anthony pretended to leave.
The octopus egg immediately panicked: "No, no, no, I'll tell, I'll tell; the pollution is the effect of these black stones; I merely used the black stones to carry out consciousness pollution."
"What do you mean?" Anthony asked.
After a detailed interrogation, everyone finally understood the origin of this octopus egg; as it said, it was originally an egg of a native Shaye, and like Shaye, it was a long filamentous creature.
However, the black stone falling from the sky destroyed almost all life in the entire plane, but it also triggered endless fear within the plane in a short time.
Shaye was originally an ancient god that fed on fear; the Shaye egg was no exception; vast amounts of fear were converted into its energy, allowing it to survive the great catastrophe of the plane... well, not exactly survive, since the yolk was shattered, only the shell remained unbroken.
Shaye's powerful vitality allowed it to slowly regenerate under such chaotic conditions, but what regenerated was no longer Shaye, but a strange creature with tentacles growing on its chin.
This strange creature had no name, only powerful spiritual energy that could project its consciousness to very distant places.
Because the egg was pressed underground by the black stone, over a long period, the shell had petrified; although the creature inside had already taken form, it could not break free from the eggshell, so it could only use spiritual energy to control some creatures.
But mental control must be continuous; if the spirit is not on the target, it is easily broken free, so the controlled targets were very limited, and the number could hardly meet the octopus egg's requirements.
The octopus egg's ultimate goal was to control a group of creatures to enter the forest, dig it out from underground, then chip away the outer shell and release it.
Controlling too few creatures could not achieve this goal, yet there was no good method; previously, it had used mental projection to pretend to be a god and tried to establish a religion.
But in a plane where the Doomsday Temple was dominant, any religion it established would be small; once it grew, it would face suppression.
Until an accidental opportunity, the octopus egg discovered that these black stones pressing it could attach to its consciousness, and then these black stones could attach to other creatures, achieving a kind of control effect.
The octopus egg could not clearly explain what kind of mechanism this was; it felt that creatures attached by the black stone had their bodies and consciousness separated; originally, the body had consciousness, but as soon as it intervened, it would forcefully replace the original consciousness, making the body become part of itself.
Hearing this, Seeing Ange suddenly quickly rummaged through his pockets and bags, pulling out all the black stones he had secretly hidden earlier, then dispersing, purifying, clearing, and shielding, cleaning even the powder that had fallen on him.
The others also realized, quickly rummaging their pockets; it turned out everyone had secretly hoarded quite a few black stones.
"No need, no need; only black stones that have been attached by my consciousness can pollute other creatures; I have not attached my consciousness to these black stones," the octopus egg hurriedly clarified.
Anthony sneered: "You haven't attached your consciousness, so how do you know whether others have attached their consciousness to them? You think you control others, but how do you know you aren't the one being controlled? Your body has the most black stones stuck to it."
"You..." the octopus egg let out a startled 'squeak', but it cut off abruptly; immediately, its aura changed drastically, and a new voice came from within the egg: "How did you know?"
Now it was Anthony's turn to be stunned: "I... I just guessed randomly; there really is? You are... the Void Will?"
