Chapter 16
He had no choice but to toss the half-cut python aside and keep digging, needing to figure out the situation first.
As the shovel sank deeper into the soil, the lower half of the python was dug out.
Though its head was clearly gone, it still clung tightly to the earth.
This was the python's instinct; even without a head, it would desperately coil around anything it could touch.
The cameraman watched for a while, then asked uncertainly, "Brother, should we keep digging? Maybe we should call the police to handle this!"
Fang Yang shook his head. "Forget it. It's not a big deal, no need to call the police. This python will probably die soon anyway, and we still have work to do."
Having said that, he ignored the cameraman and continued digging.
However, with the next shovel strike, a bizarre scene unfolded.
Countless snakes swam out from the pit.
There were red-banded snakes, earth snakes, black-browed rat snakes, king snakes, and more...
Although most were common snake species, there were still several that Fang Yang did not recognize at all.
This scene left the cameraman stunned, and he unconsciously stepped back several paces.
Fang Yang's eyebrows were furrowed so tightly they formed the shape of the character "chuan".
It wasn't fear of the snakes, but rather a feeling that something was terribly wrong.
After all, when starved, pythons eat small snakes, and venomous snakes also eat small snakes.
Yet these snakes were coexisting peacefully in a single nest.
Only one explanation made sense.
That was, beneath the mound lay food sufficient to fill the pythons, including the venomous snakes.
Even food that would make the non-venomous snakes willing to take a deadly risk.
What could it be?
Fang Yang did not know; he could only keep digging!
Yet, unease began to rise in his heart.
He felt as though the next shovel strike would unearth something.
Buzzzz~~~
As the shovel blade plunged deeper into the soil once more.
It lifted a large chunk of earth, mixed with some small snakes.
A foul stench instantly rose to the sky.
"Ugh~~ Brother~~~ What is that? It stinks!"
Even Fang Yang could not help but cover his mouth and nose.
The cameraman had already vomited most of what he had earlier; now, smelling this odor, he could not help but retch.
Ugh~~
Earlier, seeing so many snakes scurrying about, he had felt an ominous premonition that would not leave him.
Could it be that something dead was buried beneath?
This stench was just like the smell of rotting flesh.
Only the ponds where dead pigs and other dead animals were discarded in his childhood had such a smell.
Especially the longer one stayed, the stronger the odor seemed to become.
He really wanted to move closer to see what it was; curiosity drove him to inch forward bit by bit.
But the smell was truly overwhelming; even with his clothes covering his mouth and nose, it could not be blocked.
Ugh~~
"Brother, it seems something has rotted. I can't see clearly; it's too smelly. Why don't you dig a bit more?"
The cameraman's face gradually turned deathly pale; he could barely hold on.
His stomach had long been emptied by vomiting; any further retching could only bring up clear water.
Fang Yang, enduring the foul odor, dug away the surrounding soil as quickly as possible.
Gradually, the outline of rotting flesh beneath the mound came into the cameraman's view.
Rotting flesh, mixed with some fabric, was scattered with clumps of soil.
Yet the white bones and the skull, with half its head exposed, told the cameraman.
It was not an animal!
It was a human!
This was a corpse!
A real corpse!
Ugh~~
"Someone's dead!"
"Damn! Help!"
The cameraman, as if seeing a ghost, ran straight backward.
His whole body trembled uncontrollably, his face devoid of color; anyone seeing him might think he was gravely ill.
Only now did Fang Yang clearly see the corpse on the ground, and his stomach churned repeatedly.
Now he finally understood why so many snakes had gathered there without fear of death.
It was because there was ample food here.
A dead body!

【Popularity】 +1+1+1+1....
—— 【Do we really have to play it this way? Can we even watch the livestream properly anymore? I can't take it, I'm going to vomit!】
—— 【I feel like I'll have nightmares for a month. Luckily I saw this in broad daylight; if I'd seen it at night, it would have been truly terrifying.】
—— 【Even though I'm not there, judging by the cameraman's state, he must be feeling sick to his stomach. The stench is unbearable.】
—— 【No wonder there were so many snakes earlier. Turns out they were all eating human flesh!】
—— 【How long has this corpse been dead? It's rotting this badly, yet no one noticed.】
—— 【So terrifying. It's my first time seeing a real skull, with maggots wriggling on it. It's disgusting.】
—— 【Didn't you notice there's a snake hiding inside the dead man's eyes? Anyone who doesn't know better would think this livestream is filming a horror movie.】
—— 【Scary is one thing, but it's the disgust. So disgusting. After seeing this, I don't think I can eat anything for a month. Just thinking about that scene makes me want to vomit.】
Fang Yang forced down his urge to vomit, steadied himself, picked up his phone, and dialed the police again.
The call was answered quickly.
"Hello, I want to report a crime!"
"Sir, please do not report the same incident repeatedly. The police station has already dispatched personnel."
"No... they just left. It was a false alarm. But now, we've really found a corpse. This time it's real!"
"Sir, do not joke with me. Our police hotline is very busy!"
Fang Yang truly panicked now; it was obvious the person on the other end thought he was just causing trouble for fun.
"Please, just believe me! I'm not lying! Even if I were the bravest person, I wouldn't dare fool the police!"
There was a pause on the other end of the line for a few seconds.
"Alright, I understand. I will contact the officers on the scene to verify if this is true. Please stay there and protect the crime scene."
"Okay, okay, hurry up! It smells so bad!"
Inside the police station, Captain Wang had just returned to his office and picked up his teacup, preparing to drink.
Suddenly, the phone rang.
"Captain Wang, someone reported finding a corpse. The location is being sent to you immediately!"
"What? We already handled it. That was a dummy."
"He just called again. He says this time they found a real corpse!"
Captain Wang was stunned: "Really or fake? Are they playing with me? Fine, fine, I understand. Dispatching officers immediately."
He now felt an urge to curse. He hadn't even had time to get comfortable in his chair or take a sip of water, and he had to go back again. What was the point of leaving in the first place!
Similarly, Boss Yang received another call from Fang Yang.
