Chapter 349: Achilles
“It’s been a long time.”
Under the circumstances of a long-awaited reunion, Fang Can greeted: “How’s Brother Ji?”
“Brother Ji’s condition is terrible—he’s dying.”
Upon hearing Fang Can mention Ji Donglai, Lan Huo Wang’s tone also grew dim, losing all urge to prank.
After confirming this, Fang Can’s previously calm heart flared with sudden anger—things had truly reached this point.
Suppressing the urge to kill, he clenched his fist and whispered: “Tell me what happened.”
“That fifth-transformation had prepared for this. After learning Brother Ji could teleport, he teamed up with another fourth-transformation to forcibly lock Brother Ji’s position.”
“Because his position was locked, every time Brother Ji teleported, he was violently pulled back, forced to fight the fifth-transformation to the death.”
“That fifth-transformation dealt at least a hundred trillion damage per second—he could drain Brother Ji’s health in mere seconds.”
“When it happened, things moved too fast. Brother Ji originally planned to spend all 4.5 trillion in his account at once to severely wound the fifth-transformation before retreating.”
“But after spending 4.4 trillion at once, he discovered it caused zero damage to the fifth-transformation.”
“Forced to act, Brother Ji took out a 600-trillion loan to try and take the fifth-transformation down with him—but still inflicted no wound.”
“Finally, after using the residual shockwave to kill the fourth-transformation who had locked the space, Brother Ji fled with us—but collapsed into a coma from overwhelming debt.”
“If the debt isn’t repaid within a year, he’ll be forcibly killed by his own supernatural ability.” Lan Huo Wang explained the entire sequence.
Fang Can’s brow furrowed. Though Lan Huo Wang spoke plainly, he understood the danger: “What was the fifth-transformation’s inheritance?”
“When various nations hosted the fifth-transformation, I secretly used my Precious Item Identification Technique on him from afar.”
Lan Huo Wang sighed helplessly—he always had a three-second delay when using powers not native to this realm, and the situation had moved too fast for him to act.
Thinking of the fifth-transformation’s inheritance, Lan Huo Wang explained: “His inheritance is [Achilles’ Heel].”
Upon hearing this, Fang Can recalled the myth.
Achilles, having been dipped in the River Styx, became invulnerable to all harm.
But his heel—the one spot untouched by the river’s waters—became his fatal weakness, and he ultimately died from a poisoned arrow striking his ankle.
That single vulnerable point came to be called “Achilles’ Heel.”
“The ability of this inheritance is that his body can only be wounded by a blade stained with blood—every other form of attack is completely immune.”
As Lan Huo Wang explained, Fang Can’s brow tightened—he now understood why Ji Donglai had been unable to harm him.
“After the other supernaturals were sent back to Xin State, they told me to wait here for you. Even if I hid in the Endless Sea, you’d still find me if you returned.”
“How is Xin State now?” Fang Can asked.
“Since Brother Ji fell into a coma, the other two nations have begun probing, and some within Xin State have started causing chaos.”
“So you should hide for now,” Lan Huo Wang said seriously to Fang Can.
“With Brother Ji unconscious, neither Dayan nor Xin State is safe. You’d better lie low until your divine art reaches full mastery—then avenge us.”
Fang Can shook his head outright: “No need.”
“No need? Hey, Fang Can, don’t be reckless!” Lan Huo Wang cried. “You’re our last hope!”
“You’ve changed, Lan Huo Wang. Has a little setback made you fearful? Where’s the courage you once had to prank entire nations?”
“Didn’t they say a man changes in three days? Do you still see me as I was a month ago?”
As he spoke, Fang Can tried to smile brightly—but his face showed only a grim, sinister sneer.
These words finally jolted Lan Huo Wang awake. Looking at Fang Can’s current appearance and demeanor: “How strong are you now?”
“In pure strength, no one below fifth-transformation can match me.”
“Fifth-transformation!” Lan Huo Wang’s eyes widened. “How long were you in that sixth-transformation secret realm?”
Fang Can didn’t answer. Instead, he smiled and extended his right arm toward Lan Huo Wang: “I haven’t returned to Xin State yet. I plan to make some big moves during this time. Want to join?”
Big moves?
Looking at Fang Can’s outstretched arm, Lan Huo Wang no longer hesitated—he gripped it firmly: “You want to cause chaos? Count me in!”
“Good.” Fang Can kept his sinister smile: “Are the original warriors still alive?”
“You mean the warriors under mind control?” Lan Huo Wang paused, then said: “Of course—they’re all buried. What do you plan to do?”
“Of course—to fund our first operation!”
…
On the ruins of Liantian Gate, fourth-transformation warriors arrived in droves, gathering together.
[Did you summon so many?] The new Emperor of Chu arrived last, surveying the scene: eleven fourth-transformation warriors, differing in attire and gender.
To be honest, after witnessing a gathering of over a dozen fourth-transformation warriors get annihilated months ago, he’d developed a slight aversion to such events.
“Emperor Zhou, you’ve gathered us here—speak. Who destroyed Liantian Gate?”
Emperor Chu looked down at the ruins of Liantian Gate. Such destruction clearly required at least peak fourth-transformation power.
“It was Fang Can!” came a hoarse voice from the man beside Emperor Zhou.
As the fourth-transformation warriors turned their gaze, their brows instinctively furrowed.
For the man speaking had one half of his body perfectly normal.
But his right cheek and neck were charred by fire—burned skin peeled away, revealing white teeth beneath, like a demon risen from hell.
“Fang Can did this to me,” the man said, filled with fury and venom.
“I watched him reduce Liantian Gate to rubble with a single strike—and declare he’d destroy every last one of us.”
“Fang Can?”
The name stunned them all. How could it be him? Hadn’t he only matched a third-transformation in the last livestream?
“Correct. I’ve divined it,” Emperor Zhou said gravely. “Gentlemen, if we don’t take this seriously, our nations may soon be wiped out.”
“Just now, my seer divined a future of chaos for all martial nations—and the source of our destruction is none other than Fang Can.”
“He has come to avenge the supernaturals defeated by the fifth-transformation!”
