Chapter 40: Team Up Together; Shen Ni
Yunmengze Dragon Palace.
Three great deities conversed merrily.
Zhenyuanzi said that while projecting himself into a certain universe, he accidentally picked up a pearl.
This pearl was wondrous—it could traverse time and space, reaching other worlds.
Hongyun said that one of his dao bodies had suddenly been pulled into a divine hall, and that hall too was wondrous—a perfect place for trials.
The blue-robed dragon god laughed immediately.
“I happen to have a little understanding of both things you two mentioned!”
“That’s perfect!”
The three of them understood each other without speaking—they asked nothing about the true origin of the Chaos Pearl, nor discussed the shadowy mastermind behind the Main Divine Hall.
They spoke only of the rules of the game.
Then exchanged their own thoughts.
As for the strict edict that all levels of Main Divine Halls forbade the enlightened from revealing any information about them—violators would be executed—
Did that even count as an issue to a great deity?
If you don’t kill me, I’ll follow the rules, just letting one of my dao bodies wander inside.
If you do kill me, I’ll become even more curious.
I’ll simply follow the karmic threads, send a pile of dao bodies over to take a look, and keep wandering.
Unless some primordial spirit is truly unlucky and ends up in the First Main Divine Hall controlled by the Sacred Cauldron of the Yuan Era.
If that happens, you’ll receive a “warm welcome” from a host of dragon clan elders led by Zu Long.
In the words of the Turtle Chancellor, if we encounter such brazen behavior, we generally have three options.
Invite them to dinner, behead them, or take them in as a dog.
For severe cases, there’s a special option—such as “inviting” the offender to become a [Honorary Experimental Subject] in Qiantian Palace of the Wanshendian.
Just imagining the Turtle Chancellor’s excited state when mentioning this special option made the blue-robed dragon god’s spine chill.
Qiantian Palace is the dragon clan’s first research institute—more sinister even than my own Taisha Tian Palace.
“If we ever capture this madman Shen Ni, we could send him in for a little taste of it,” the blue-robed dragon god thought.
Although the Taiwei Yuan Assembly had not yet been convened, Xiang Xuanqing had long since used various means to reveal Shen Ni’s existence to the Qilin clan, the dragon clan, the phoenix clan, and other factions.
These factions largely shared Xiang Xuanqing’s stance—kill him, and kill him soon!
The Turtle Chancellor had even specifically applied to Ying Long for resources to arrange some “luxury” packages for Shen Ni in advance.
They were just waiting for Shen Ni to be caught.
Fortunately, Hongyun’s luck had been decent—he hadn’t walked into a trap.
He had merely visited a subordinate Main Divine Hall.
“Would you like to join us and form a team together?” Hongyun’s eyes shone with anticipation as he warmly invited the blue-robed dragon god.
This was also the primary purpose of Hongyun and Zhenyuanzi’s visit.
Most tasks in the Main Divine Halls require teams to complete.
Hongyun first thought of his good brother Zhenyuanzi, and secondly of his good neighbor, the blue-robed dragon god.
“You want to team up with me?”
Hongyun nodded.
“My dao body is the anchor—everyone can simply follow the anchor to slip in and complete the invasion together.”
“I’ve probed that main deity—he’s strong. I couldn’t handle him alone, but with all of us together, it’s no problem at all.”
The blue-robed dragon god’s expression turned strange.
You’re standing right here in front of me, the administrator of this sub-hall, openly discussing how to invade a Main Divine Hall?
And you want me to join you—is that appropriate?
Nearby, Zhenyuanzi said: “We must also exercise restraint—after all, we can’t truly push this main deity to the brink.”
“One main deity isn’t worrisome—it’s the possibility of a whole crowd of such creatures behind him.”
As Zhenyuanzi spoke, he glanced at the blue-robed dragon god with a hint of implication.
The blue-robed dragon god smiled: “Zhenyuanzi, you’re still the steady one!”
“I believe that as long as we exercise mutual restraint and follow the rules, no accidents should occur.”
“So, you agree?” Hongyun exclaimed in delight.
The blue-robed dragon god nodded: “Since you two sincerely invite me, I have no reason to refuse.”
Who says an administrator can’t join the fray?
If I don’t go in and take a look, how will I know what demons and monsters lurk in the Main Divine Hall under my control?
Hong Huang Zhen Jie, vast and boundless.
In one corner of this immense cosmos lay a place forgotten by time and space—Bushi Mountain.
East of the Flowing Sands, between the Black Water, there stood a mountain named Bushi Mountain.
Here, time and space intertwined, reality and illusion overlapped.
It was a mysterious node connecting heaven and earth, linking past and present.
Standing here, one could almost feel the universe’s breath, hear the stars’ whispers, and sense the rhythm of the laws.
“Can’t this Shen Ni guy pick another place to meet?” A towering figure stepped into Bushi Mountain—his back bore a long halberd, chains wrapped around his body, struggling painfully as he moved.
Bushi Mountain was surrounded by a thick layer of emptiness.
This emptiness was not mere nothingness—it brimmed with an invisible pressure.
As if any living being entering this place would be bound by unseen forces, leaving one feeling heavy and suffocated.
Xianggu Zhi Shi walked while grumbling: “What a damn place—it’s so hard to find. It’s just a mountain in the Black Water basin, yet I got lost eight times?”
“Truly sinister!”
As he walked through the mountains, Xianggu Zhi Shi constantly sensed an uneasy aura.
Whispered voices occasionally reached his ears—seeming like living beings conversing, yet their origin was unknown.
These voices seemed to pierce through the barriers of time and space, directly touching the depths of the soul, making it impossible to distinguish reality from illusion.
The deeper Xianggu Zhi Shi went, the more terrifying his inner feeling became.
“Pangu’s axe! What the hell are all these things?”
After walking for a long while, Xianggu Zhi Shi heard more whispers—like faint laughter, or mockery.
Something mysterious was watching here—and it had fixed its gaze on Him!
“Shen Ni, come out!”
Xianggu Zhi Shi’s face darkened—he felt uneasy; if he went further, danger was imminent!
“You, this guy, if you’re going to summon spirits, why all this nonsense?!”
“Make them stay away from me, or I’ll send a message straight to Luo Hou!”
“Don’t think I can’t do it.”
“Fine, let’s just burn everything down!”
In the instant Xianggu Zhi Shi erupted in anger, a faint stir occurred in the void.
He quickly looked.
He saw several faint beams of light pierce through the law’s barrier—only to be instantly swallowed, leaving behind even deeper darkness.
“Friend, you’re really impatient.”
A lazy voice sounded beside Xianggu Zhi Shi.
Shen Ni pushed open a coffin from the darkness, stretched lazily, then slowly crawled out.
Seeing Shen Ni’s leisurely demeanor, and recalling his earlier threats, Xianggu Zhi Shi’s anger flared.
“Why didn’t Luo Hou just kill you?!”
“He did.”
Shen Ni yawned, as if just waking up: “He didn’t just die—he died several times.”
“Otherwise, I wouldn’t have slept this long.”
He didn’t mention Xianggu Zhi Shi’s betrayal of their team.
If roles were reversed, he’d do the same.
“Why did you call me here?”
“Say what you need to say quickly!”
Xianggu Zhi Shi crossed his arms, face cold, standing rigidly.
“Don’t be so angry.”
Shen Ni smiled: “Can’t I just call you for a chat? We’re old friends, aren’t we?”
“Who’s your old friend?”
Xianggu Zhi Shi looked at Shen Ni with disgust: “You’re a scourge—die already.”
Shen Ni put on a hurt expression: “Friend, your words are so painful.”
“Are you even human?”
Xianggu Zhi Shi sneered.
“Hurry up, stop dawdling—say what you have to say, or I’m leaving!”
As he spoke, Xianggu Zhi Shi turned to leave.
This place is way too sinister—let whoever wants to stay, stay.
“Hey, don’t rush!”
Shen Ni grabbed him and smiled: “I found something interesting—want to come see?”
“What is it?”
