Chapter 88: Your Array Is Too Proper—I

~10 min read 1,801 words

A breeze stirs at the tip of green duckweed; waves form in the space of a ripple.

In the instant the great array activated.

A faint wind stirred outside Biyou Palace, and the eternal, unceasing essence of the Dao unfolded.

As the array rotated, the vast blue sky and countless scenes all faded, covered in gray, shrouded in black and white.

“Come!”

Heaven and earth suddenly brightened; an undulating sea of primordial qi abruptly appeared, boiling with chaos, towering waves surging.

In the sword pool of Biyou Palace, countless seeds sprouted, tiny emerald hues dissolving into the undulating motion.

Yuanchen Daojun gestured, and a clear, resonant clang rang out; points of green light flew from the sword pool, coalescing into a long sword.

This sword measured three chi, six cun, and five fen in length; its blade and scabbard were entirely jet black, wrapped in green lotus blossoms.

Named: Qingping!

“I haven’t had guests visit Biyou Heaven in a long time; today, several Dao friends have come to discuss the Dao—it truly delights me!”

Yuanchen Daojun laughed loudly, raising Qingping Sword and striking straight toward Minghe.

Minghe’s expression turned solemn: “Then I shall be rude!”

He stepped upon the Lotus of Karma Fire, wielding two killing swords, meeting the attack; as swords rose and fell, boundless bloodlight spread, blades whirling, crisscrossing in all directions.

In the instant they clashed, endless killing intent shattered heaven and earth, even time and space trembling.

“Such violent killing intent is truly admirable!” Yuanchen Daojun, clad in green robes, stood firm in empty space, upright and unyielding.

Minghe spoke calmly: “Don’t praise me, my friend—my blades haven’t even touched your sleeve!”

“Nor have I broken through your lotus defense,” Yuanchen Daojun blinked, smiling.

Meeting kindred spirits, he seemed far more lively.

“Your array, Li Ming Dao friend, is excellent—what’s its name?”

Xuanqing and Meng Wuyou fell into a great array; this array followed the numbers of earth, water, fire, and wind, containing wind and fire, both primordial qi, endlessly shifting, fiercely terrifying.

As they advanced, suddenly wind and fire converged, countless blades gathering together.

A million weapons emerged, endless killing intent.

“This array is called the Wind Roar Array.”

Yuanchen Daojun’s voice came from outside; he stepped upon the Zhou Tian, dwelling amid the blood waves, riding the wind, drifting freely, following nature.

“Lately, with nothing to do, I observed the myriad phenomena of the Zhou Tian, extracted the true meanings of wind and fire from the Four Symbols, and crafted this array.”

“I know it can’t hold you two—just let you experience it.”

Yuanchen Daojun explained his array while battling Minghe.

From the array’s name, to its core, to its layout, materials needed…

“Why do I feel like he’s trying to teach us how to set up this Wind Roar Array?”

Meng Wuyou’s expression was strange—this Li Ming Dao friend truly loved arrays.

“Learn more—it can’t hurt.”

Xuanqing, however, was enthusiastic; from his perspective, this Wind Roar Array was far too proper, with plenty of room for improvement.

For instance, the Dao rules could be changed entirely: when the great array unleashed its gales, those inside must jump around, shouting loudly!

The fire could be changed too—no need for primordial true fire; replace it with “desire fire.”

Desire fire burning the body—isn’t that more thrilling than “ten thousand blades firing at once”?

Then, when wind and fire converged, those trapped inside, overwhelmed by desire, would moan desperately.

Just thinking about it was amusing.

When Xuanqing excitedly conveyed his proposed improvements to the Wind Roar Array to Yuanchen Daojun.

The Daojun fell silent on the spot.

Distracted, he nearly got slashed by Yuantu Sword.

Yuanchen Daojun didn’t understand Xuanqing’s bizarre ideas, but he was deeply shaken.

“If we follow your modifications… this Wind Roar Array… uh, I mean, doesn’t the killing power become a bit weak?” Yuanchen Daojun thought long and hard, finally finding a counterpoint.

“Who says it lacks killing power? The killing power is enormous.”

Xuanqing told Yuanchen Daojun: “Think about it—we’re all primordial deities; ordinary death won’t stick, and even if you die, you can crawl out from some dark corner.”

“So, an array’s killing power doesn’t have to destroy the body—it can strike the heart!”

Xuanqing beamed as he explained: “Follow my method, trap a primordial great deity next time, then after the effect—no, I mean after the array activates—slice out that stretch of time-space and loop it in front of their eyes.”

“The killing power will be explosive!”

Xuanqing swore: "I guarantee that even a Luo Zhen Supreme would never want to enter your array."

“Any deity who’s entered this array will avoid you entirely the next time they see you.”

After hearing this, Yuanchen Daojun fell even quieter.

He opened his mouth several times, wanting to defend his original array, to find its brilliance.

But Xuanqing’s theory—“kill the body, not the heart”—seemed to hold some truth.

With Xuanqing’s modifications, even the creator of the array found the “killing power” chilling.

“This is bad—Li Ming Dao friend seems to be seriously considering it!”

After hearing Xuanqing’s improvements, Meng Wuyou wasn’t surprised at all.

When she saw Yuanchen Daojun actually thinking about it, she sighed: “From now on, Honghuang will lose one more proper deity.”

Shouyang Mountain, Bajing Palace.

While staying in Biyou Heaven, Xuanqing also contacted Jingyao Shangzun.

When Jingyao learned the effects of the Zhou Tian Wu Dao Pill, his face lit up with a radiant smile.

“No wonder it’s me—I can even brew such an outrageous pill!” Jingyao was quite proud.

Who else in all Honghuang could brew such a pill?

“Hmm, better record this first.” Jingyao pulled out a pill scripture and noted the effects of the Zhou Tian Wu Dao Pill.

He believed that with Minghe’s help, he’d soon fill this scripture entirely.

“But how to fix this side effect is a problem.” Actually, according to Jingyao’s calculations, the side effect of the Zhou Tian Wu Dao Pill shouldn’t be this strong.

Even random teleportation shouldn’t occur this frequently.

“The issue must lie in the quantity.”

Jingyao recalled Xuanqing’s description and sighed: “Xuyao Dao friend (Minghe) swallowed ten pills at once—this is absolute trust in me!”

“Because of this trust, I must fix this side effect!”

Jingyao Shangzun felt Minghe’s trust was absolute faith in his pill-making art.

Where else could he find such a good Dao friend?

He absolutely must save him!

Besides, the pills were his—after-sales issues must be resolved.

“Then, I can only ask Xuyao Dao friend to enter my Bagua Purple Gold Furnace once more!”

Jingyao Shangzun lifted the pill furnace and headed straight into Chaos.

Following the Dao marker Xuanqing gave, in the blink of an eye, he found Biyou Heaven.

“Dao friend, open the door—I’ve come to save someone!”

“Oh my god, there’s another great array here!”

“Wait a minute—this array… ROAR!”

Bu Zhou Mountain, Qilin Sacred Cliff.

The Dao hung high, auspicious clouds rolled.

The Qilin Drum sounded nine times in succession; countless shadows emerged from empty space.

The Thirty-Six Emperors gathered; countless Qilin returned from the myriad worlds of the Zhou Tian.

“Another assembly?”

“Great—I love assemblies.”

“Last time, Jinlin’er and Yinlin’er received blessings from the Shenjun Jianbing—we were so envious.”

Young Qilin gathered in small groups, sharing their experiences across the myriad heavens.

At this moment, a Water Qilin gazed at the towering figures atop the Qilin Sacred Cliff.

He muttered softly: “I wonder what big matter this is—our group hasn’t even designed the Qi Yun system yet!”

“Our group’s system isn’t designed either,” nearby Fire Qilin said dejectedly.

“The elders say Qilin who can’t design systems can’t graduate properly, let alone travel the myriad heavens alone.”

Hearing the keywords “design system” and “can’t graduate,” other groups exploded.

“Oh come on, you’re so annoying—we came to enjoy the assembly, why bring this up?”

The young Metal Qilin nervously scratched their pale gold hair.

“Linking system design and graduation/travel? Who came up with this genius idea? I want to kill them!”

“Exactly!”

“We’re still so young, and we’re under this much pressure—how are we supposed to grow?”

The Qilin who hadn’t completed their tasks groaned, gathering together to denounce the unknown genius.

“Everyone!”

On the Qilin Sacred Cliff, Baihu Shenjun Jianbing stepped forward and delivered a brief opening: “Next, the Clan Chief will announce the purpose of this assembly.”

As mentioned at the last assembly, the pre-meeting speech segment has been completely canceled.

"This assembly aims to profoundly expound the concept of 'bearing heaven and carrying earth,' and to further advance our Qilin clan's expansion plan."

The First Qilin said: "Within our Elder Council, Wuji Shenjun has developed a deeper understanding of the path of 'bearing heaven and carrying earth.'"

"He proposes one point: the Thirty-Six Emperors must not only 'bear heaven and carry earth,' but also 'create and transform heaven and earth.'"

"Our Qilin clan is a divine beast of heaven and earth; thus, across the myriad worlds, we cannot merely be plunderers—we must also become creators."

"Based on this concept, our Elder Council will now introduce a new Great Creation Plan."

After speaking, the First Qilin waited for the clan members to absorb this information.

Then, Wuji Shenjun (Fuxi) stepped forward to elaborate on the Great Creation Plan.

"This plan will center on 'creation and transformation,' use 'cultivating paradise realms' as its guiding principle, and employ 'qi fortune and merit' as its accounting system!"

After concisely outlining the plan’s framework, Wuji Shenjun continued: "While our Qilin clan has cultivated qi fortune children across the myriad worlds and thus strengthened our lineage, over time, the qi fortune of the myriad worlds has become unbalanced."

"The growth of a qi fortune child consumes the essence of an entire world; their ascension inevitably carries away that world’s creative potential."

"They take much, yet give little back—world after world gradually heads toward decline, approaching the End Dharma Era."

"This is not conducive to our long-term development."

Beneath the Qilin Sacred Cliff, countless clan members nodded after hearing Wuji Shenjun’s words.

Along the path of Qilin expansion, everyone had noticed this problem.

As successive generations of qi fortune children in a world grow and ascend to higher realms, that world inevitably falls into decline.

In such a world, cultivating another suitable qi fortune child becomes exceedingly difficult.

If a world descends into the End Dharma Era and fails to recover even after a long period of rest, it will plummet into a spiritless world.

In such a world, not only is cultivation impossible, but it’s uncertain whether any intelligent life can even arise.

"Therefore, we must update our philosophy and change our strategy—to promote new cultivation methods and new systems across the myriad worlds!"

"This system must center on 'creation and transformation!'"
