Post-Completion Thoughts

It is finished. I wouldn't say I feel a sense of relief; instead, I have fallen into a new round of confusion.

Let's first look back at this book.

The entertainment genre is quite magical in that it can be written indefinitely, but in reality, once every aspect has reached its peak, the book is left with nothing but an infinite Loop of the same tropes.

The story of Luo Mo could actually continue to loop infinitely within those tropes, but as one might imagine, the readers' sense of anticipation would have already dropped very low.

Looking back at the whole book myself, I personally feel that my writing of stage performances is the strongest. As for writing dramas, movies, etc., it can only be considered upper-middle level among entertainment authors, and in truth, I couldn't come up with much innovation there.

And regarding writing songs and stage performances, the best part should be the first arc, which is Creating Idols.

I have always felt that the most satisfying point of entertainment novels is the stage from having nothing to becoming quite famous.

And this arc, Creating Idols, can be said to have maxed out the satisfaction, the sense of anticipation, and the Character Shaping.

Regarding this part of the Drama, I chose a Rap song for the final, and I was blasted by thousands of people that day, to the point where I had to change that chapter. Hmm, many new readers might not know that the song for the grand finale was changed.

Speaking of this, I have to mention the few changes, or rather compromises, that this book made.

Among them, the biggest change was regarding the female lead.

It is not hard for everyone to see that the initial direction of this book was multiple female leads.

This change actually caused the subsequent Drama to be cut by at least 500,000 words or even more!

Many plot points were stuck because of this, a lot of content in the outline was deleted, and a huge amount of daily life scenes were not written.

The reason for this change was that the two factions of single female lead and multiple female leads were constantly arguing in the early stages, and in the end, many readers who insisted on a single female lead kept shouting that they would report the book if it had multiple female leads. I saw such comments at least several hundred times.

Honestly, urban novels... cannot withstand being reported; this is the truth.

Even now, I sometimes suddenly receive notifications to modify chapters I posted half a year ago.

By the way, originally after joining Xinyu, the story would have unfolded through the romantic subplot with Shen Yinuo, and then the boss of Xinyu, Shen Shaoqiu, would have died... well, he was spared from being written to death by me because of this.

Originally, there would have been a "shuraba" (love triangle conflict) between the two best friends, Xiao Shen and Jiang Jiang.

Looking back at the earlier chapters now, I find them quite interesting. When writing the chapters for "Qi Li Xiang," all the comments were saying that Jiang Jiang must be the female lead!

Then, when writing the romantic subplot with Xu Chujing, everyone was saying again that the Heavenly Queen must be the female lead.

Of course, such a mid-way change has also been criticized; many people followed along just to scold me, asking why I portrayed so many female characters in the beginning.

Moreover, urban novels actually require characters to unfold the Drama and arcs in many places. For example, later on, someone wanted to hit on Ning Dan, which then led to directing the New Year's Eve Gala—everyone should be able to understand that, right?

And after the Character Relationships were heavily cut, many developments could not proceed, many conflicts could not be planted, and many hatred-driven clashes had to be deleted or changed.

After finishing with the major changes to the book, let me summarize some experiences.

Although I have always felt that my first arc, Creating Idols, was written very well (Ox), I have to say that this arc established the upper limit of the book's performance.

This book has over 30,000 average subscriptions, which actually didn't meet my expectations, because the first-chapter subscription was over 10,000, breaking the record for first-chapter subscriptions for celebrity-themed novels.

The reason for this is actually that the protagonist's starting point was too high.

A hit variety show allowed him to leap directly into becoming a Top Traffic star.

But in reality, a hit variety show is exactly what can produce a Top Traffic star; not writing it this way would not be logical.

But once it becomes a huge success and the starting point is high, many works become hard to write. For example, with a song, everyone would feel it isn't worthy of being sung by the protagonist at that stage.

But in reality, not all songs are suitable for writing stage performances.

Some songs are just popular and sound good, but I have no way to start writing; I don't know from what angle to write them. I think everyone can understand this point.

Just like "Xi" in Creating Idols, you might ask how high the artistry of this song is; in fact, it isn't that high, but there was an angle to unfold and write it, to describe a stage, and to innovate and fuse elements.

Some songs are indeed very good to listen to, but they are just "good to listen to," and it is really hard to shape a stage performance around them.

This is why the stage performances became fewer and fewer later on, because I felt that the songs I could utilize had basically all been written.

Moreover, the stage performances written earlier would be raised by everyone's tastes and expectations.

If I couldn't write something exquisite, everyone would instead feel that the quality had dropped significantly. But in reality, if placed in other entertainment novels, everyone wouldn't have this feeling.

As for entertainment novels, later on, the hatred-driven plot lines actually become harder and harder; it really just becomes invincible.

These days are not like before; in the past, one could even write about being banned by the State Administration of Radio and Television and then directly fighting back. That level of satisfaction cannot be written now.

Many messy things cannot be written in the book either.

So, it is just a pure battle of works, which actually loses a lot of flavor.

Finally, as I said before, I will not write entertainment novels next.

I feel that what should be written and what can be written, I have already written.

If I really want to write, I will have to wait until I have new ideas.

What the new book will be about, I haven't thought clearly yet, but it is highly likely not to be urban.

Also, the new book won't make everyone wait too long; I won't rest for very long, probably resting for about a month or so.

So, see you in the new book!
