Chapter 299

Just as Chen Yu was worried about the future, the next moment, a messenger soldier hurried over, bringing Lin Yang's battle report!

"What? Sun Jian lost?"

Chen Yu felt as if he had misheard and hurriedly picked up the battle report in the other's hand!

Seeing that Lin Yang first lured the enemy deep and then set an ambush at Xianxialing, crushing Sun Jian's thirty thousand-strong army in one blow, Chen Yu felt as if he were dreaming!

Wasn't the vanguard out of grain?

How could they still win a great victory?

Chen Yu felt his brain wasn't enough!

"Prefect Chen, the lord has ordered the two thousand troops of the rear army to immediately march to Yushan and attack the entire Yuzhang Commandery!"

The messenger soldier reminded Chen Yu!

At this time, Lin Yang had already led the great army to attack Yuzhang Commandery!

However!

Because he needed to occupy the entire Yuzhang Commandery, Lin Yang's troops were undoubtedly insufficient!

He could only mobilize the twenty thousand troops that had retreated from Kuaiji Commandery!

"This!"

Looking at the battle report and orders in his hand in surprise, Chen Yu hadn't digested it yet!

Everything was changing too fast!

He couldn't keep up!

However, since Lin Yang had already said that the surrendered soldiers were being escorted back, Chen Yu naturally chose to believe it!

Because there was no need to report a false battle report!

Besides the letter, there was also Lin Yang's token, which could not be faked!

"Order the great army to head to Yushan immediately!"

Ordering the soldiers outside the door, in just half a day, the five thousand troops of the vanguard set off from Kuaiji City!

At the same time, the news of Lin Yang's great victory spread throughout Kuaiji City!

Countless people heard that Lin Yang had won a great victory at the front and captured ten thousand of Sun Jian's surrendered soldiers, and everyone was completely excited!

And at the same time, in Yuzhang Commandery, in the government office of Nanchang County

"My lord, Gongfu has led the troops back from Nancheng, and the great army is currently stationed outside the city!"

"Dayong, how many troops do we have left?"

Sun Jian's expression was slightly decadent, looking at Zu Mao in front of him, and asked about the matter he cared about!

"My lord, during this time, gathering the surrendered soldiers, plus Gongfu's troops, there are still fifteen thousand battle-ready soldiers!"

Zu Mao hesitated but still spoke out!

Yes!

In the battle of Xianxialing, they suffered heavy losses, and of the thirty thousand troops, fewer than two thousand escaped!

Adding up all the troops in Yuzhang Commandery, there were only fifteen thousand!

With these troops, it was impossible to stop Lin Yang!

"Cough cough, my lord, we need to retreat immediately!"

Just as Sun Jian and Zu Mao didn't know what to choose, Zhou Yu, dragging his sick body, walked in slowly!

"Gongjin, your body hasn't recovered yet!"

Since the great defeat at Xianxialing, Zhou Yu had been unable to soothe his blood and qi, and after returning, he fell ill!

Now, after a serious illness, he hadn't recovered yet!

"Thank you for your concern, my lord, but we need to retreat to Lujiang Commandery immediately!"

Zhou Yu's eyes flashed with brilliance, although he was calculated by Lin Yang and Guo Jia in the battle of Xianxialing!

But he hadn't lost yet!

Under Sun Jian's command, there were still more than thirty thousand troops!

Besides the fifteen thousand troops here in Yuzhang Commandery, Sun Jian also had more than ten thousand troops in Lujiang Commandery!

As long as they retreated to Lujiang Commandery, relying on the thirty thousand troops, they could defend Xunyang and Wancheng!

Relying on the navy in Sun Jian's hands, they still had the advantage!

To step into Lujiang Commandery from Yuzhang Commandery, one needed to cross the Yangtze River!

Lin Yang's infantry was strong!

But Sun Jian and the others had the advantage in the navy!

As long as they occupied several ferry crossings on the Yangtze River, they could lock down Lin Yang's great army!

For a time, as Zhou Yu's suggestion was put forward, Sun Jian and Zu Mao in the room both had their eyes light up!

Indeed!

Lin Yang didn't have a navy!

They could completely withdraw from Yuzhang Commandery and block the opponent by relying on the Yangtze River!

"Gongjin, although this plan can block Lin Yang, what if Yuan Gonglu attacks us from Jiujiang Commandery!"

Losing Yuzhang Commandery and retreating to Lujiang Commandery meant their retreat was gone!

Once Yuan Gonglu returned and launched an attack from Jiujiang Commandery, they would be attacked from both sides!

"Cough cough, times have changed!"

Zhou Yu coughed lightly and couldn't help but shake his head!

Before, Sun Jian had more than sixty thousand troops, occupying two commanderies of Yangzhou, and even had the possibility of defeating Lin Yang and occupying the entire Yangzhou!

In this situation, Yuan Gonglu would inevitably attack Sun Jian first!

Thus, they had the risk of being attacked from both sides!

But now it was different!

They were defeated by Lin Yang, thirty thousand troops were destroyed, and they lost Yuzhang Commandery, losing the capital to occupy a province!

In Yuan Gonglu's view!

His greatest enemy was not Sun Jian, but Lin Yang!

"You know, Yuan Gonglu not only has a grudge against the lord, but also against Lin Ziyuan!"

On one side was Sun Jian, who had no threat, and on the other was Lin Ziyuan, who had a grudge and was about to occupy Xuzhou and Yangzhou!

As long as Yuan Gonglu's brain wasn't broken, he wouldn't attack Sun Jian at this time!

Attacking Sun Jian!

This was completely helping Lin Yang occupy Yangzhou!

Zhou Yu believed that Yuan Gonglu's advisors would not agree!

"In this way, wouldn't we have to depend on Yuan Gonglu!"

Sun Jian frowned, slightly dissatisfied with depending on Yuan Gonglu to resist Lin Yang!

He was pitted by Yuan Gonglu before!

Almost died in Yuan Gonglu's hands!

Now he had to depend on the other side!

This made Sun Jian very unhappy!

"My lord, Goujian slept on brushwood and tasted gall, only then did he have a great victory; why can't the lord do the same!"

Zhou Yu persuaded, his words full of sincerity!

Now Lin Yang is coming aggressively, so they can only avoid his edge!

Relying on the natural barrier of the Yangtze River, block him in Yuzhang Commandery!

Relying on Lujiang and Changsha commanderies to recover vitality, only then would they have a chance to recapture Yangzhou!

For a time, facing Zhou Yu's persuasion, Zu Mao, standing nearby, also knelt down and persuaded!

"Forget it, let's follow Gongjin's plan!"

With a wave of his hand, Sun Jian seemed to have aged a few years in an instant!

"Also, order Bofu to withdraw immediately!"

At this moment, Sun Jian felt his hegemony seemed to have left him!

Retreating to one side and wanting to rise again, that was easier said than done!

Following Sun Jian's order, for a time, all the troops in Nanchang City moved!
