Chapter 48: The future of heavy cavalry, the Iron Pagoda!

"My lord, did you rob the imperial treasury?"

Thirty thousand jin of refined iron—Cheng Yu exclaimed, staring at Lin Yang in a daze!

How much refined iron did the Great Han imperial court have in total!

I'm afraid the entire Guangling Commandery couldn't scrape together thirty thousand jin of refined iron!

"Zhongde, calm down, calm down!"

Cheng Yu's shock and loss of composure made Lin Yang very satisfied!

This thirty thousand jin of refined iron was something he had painstakingly gathered after running his legs off!

For this!

During this week, he had served porridge on a massive scale, covering almost over one hundred thousand people in Jiangdu County!

Looking at the mysterious armor on Lin Yang, Cheng Yu took a big step toward the blacksmith shop!

Just as he entered, he saw more than a dozen blacksmiths working diligently!

On the ground to the side, rows of refined iron that had long been forged were placed on wooden mats!

Seeing a portion of the refined iron with his own eyes!

Cheng Yu finally believed it completely!

Thirty thousand jin of refined iron!

What kind of concept was this!

The iron armor forged by the Great Han imperial soldiers was generally scale armor!

Scale armor was armor made by connecting refined iron plates together, which could effectively resist the damage of swords and spears!

Although compared to heavy armor, the defensive effect was slightly weaker!

But it had the advantage of consuming less refined iron!

A single suit of scale armor in the Great Han generally consumed no more than fourteen jin of refined iron!

Thirty thousand jin of refined iron, regardless of consumption!

Could directly equip two thousand armored soldiers!

Two thousand armored soldiers, all wearing armor, as long as they were trained, this was definitely an elite force!

Let alone a mere Jiangdu County, even the Guangling Commandery Governor could not produce two thousand armored soldiers!

Ordinary soldiers wearing leather armor were already considered quite good!

Wanting everyone to be armored was simply impossible!

"Thirty thousand jin of refined iron, the lord's great cause is promising!"

After thinking for a moment, Cheng Yu bowed respectfully to Lin Yang!

Under the salt and iron monopoly of the Great Han, being able to obtain thirty thousand refined iron!

In this chaotic era, holding down one side was basically no problem at all!

As long as he developed slowly for a year or two, trained soldiers, and forged armor, it would be enough to occupy the entire Guangling Commandery!

Even with two thousand armored soldiers, marching on Xuzhou was not impossible!

"Zhongde, this is just the beginning!"

Helping Cheng Yu up, Lin Yang, wearing the mysterious armor at this moment, felt his inner confidence was sufficient!

Thirty thousand jin of refined iron, that's all!

Even if forged into scale armor, it could only equip two thousand armored soldiers!

Compared to other feudal lords, it was still not strong enough!

What Lin Yang wanted was not something like scale armor!

But another, stronger existence!

"Come, Zhongde, take a look at this heavy armor!"

Pulling Cheng Yu's hand, Lin Yang led him to a suit of heavy armor!

The pitch-black heavy armor was different from the scale armor; this heavy armor was also equipped with iron breastplates, shoulder guards, hand guards, and so on!

It truly achieved all-around protection!

"My lord, you don't intend to forge all thirty thousand jin of refined iron into this kind of heavy armor, do you?"

With just one glance, Cheng Yu guessed Lin Yang's thoughts!

This heavy armor had a natural difference compared to the previous scale armor!

"Cough, cough, I can't hide anything from you, Zhongde!" Lin Yang coughed lightly and nodded!

Regarding the scale armor of the Great Han, Lin Yang was actually not very satisfied!

This was an armored force, but it was not a heavy armored force!

However!

This was also normal!

Throughout the late Eastern Han Dynasty, and even the Three Kingdoms chaotic era!

There was no appearance of heavy armored legions!

The only one similar to heavy infantry was the Great Halberd Warriors that Yuan Shao spent a huge price to forge!

It was a pity!

He didn't know how to use them and was kitesurfed to death by others!

As for cavalry, they were also mainly light cavalry!

Tiger and Leopard Cavalry, White Horse Righteous Followers, Wudang Flying Army, etc., were all the best among light cavalry!

And what Lin Yang wanted to create was the heavy cavalry, the Iron Pagoda!

"My lord, this must never be done!" Cheng Yu bowed, a look of anxiety on his face, "May I ask, my lord, how much does this armor weigh?"

"Currently, this armor weighs thirty-two jin!"

This armor was forged by blacksmiths at his request, so Lin Yang naturally knew it very well!

"My lord, this kind of heavy armor cannot be worn by ordinary soldiers!"

"If the lord has the entire army wear this armor in battle, I fear most of the soldiers will be exhausted to death!"

Cheng Yu looked at the armor on the side!

This armor was good, but it couldn't be used!

For no other reason than that it was too heavy!
