Ai-yi-ye-yi-ye-yi-ye-ah-oh, ai-yi-ye-yi-ye-yi-ye-ah-oh. I wish you wealth, I wish you brilliance! Let the best come here, let the bad go away, oh, one can never be too polite~
The Emperor is here to wish everyone a year of dragon-like vigor and tiger-like vitality, and a very auspicious Year of the Snake!
I'm exhausted; let me rest for two days during the New Year.
The update schedule for the New Year is as follows: I will rest on the first and second days of the Lunar New Year and resume updates on the third day. Most of the time, there will be two updates, but since I am at home for the New Year, there might occasionally be only one update if something comes up. I hope everyone understands.
Additionally, I will answer the two questions everyone has been most concerned about recently.
Q: Why did you give a bento to Saito Nanami?
A: I believe all readers have realized that the character prototype for Saito Nanami is Hashimoto Nanami from Nogizaka46, whom I once liked the most. I wrote about her in my first book, Poem of Nogizaka.
Why did I write her out? The reason is simple: I originally intended to reserve a spot for her in the new book as well, but later I considered that Hashimoto Nanami has already officially and completely retired from the industry, and a long time has passed. She probably wouldn't want anyone to disturb her life anymore, so I decided to let her be.
Since I decided to let her be, I chose to give her the role of a background NPC and a pure passerby in the main text. After all, writing a bit too much about her might involve elements of "killing off a female character." Therefore, I decided to let her just show her face and make a dignified exit. Perfect.
Then why mention her at all?
Because only after Hashimoto exits can the bird be brought in!
Q: Why let Kashiwagi Jin off the hook? Didn't he frame the protagonist for a crime?
A: I believe the vast majority of readers have realized why I wrote the protagonist raising his hand high only to bring it down gently. There are two reasons for this. First, I have written many times that Kashiwagi Jin has a wife who is a former Face of the Metropolitan Police Department. I believe everyone understands what I mean, right?
Secondly, if anyone has truly spent time within the system, they should understand that this kind of high-level Public Servant, similar to a central selection, is not that easy to topple, nor is it easy to make them finish. Behind them are involved huge and complex forces. I wrote very clearly in the text about the conflict between the Criminal Investigation Division and Public Security, but besides that, the conflict between the Career Track and the Non-Career Track is also very sharp. Uesugi has basically conquered the Non-Career Track at the headquarters, but the conquest of the Career Track starts with this person, Kashiwagi Jin.
It is not that Uesugi cannot retaliate, but that he will do it slowly, working on both fronts simultaneously.
The famous Cabinet Chief Secretary and Civil Servant Chief, Sir Arnold Abinson, once said: "Want to fire a high-level Public Servant for dereliction of duty? In principle, yes; in fact, no!"
If he really wanted Kashiwagi Jin to be finished, Miss Minami and Watanabe Eiji would actually oppose it, because Uesugi would be equivalent to challenging the unshakable status of the Career Track.
Matching wits with the Career Track is also part of Uesugi's continued rise in status.
Uesugi currently cannot do anything about this group of Career Track officials, but that may not be the case in the future.
Finally, I wish everyone a happy New Year and joy for the whole family~
