Chapter 195: Arctic Circle
The Core discovered that Sideswipe had not caught up immediately, clearly hindered by the two Decepticon Workers he had suddenly cast aside, and Sun Cheng could not help but heave a sigh of relief.
This guy's personality was indeed just as recorded in Jazz's Memory Data: cold and ruthless toward Decepticons, never letting one go once spotted.
Although it pained him to lose two Workers because of this, Sun Cheng still felt he had made a huge profit.
A mere two Workers; no matter how valuable, could they possibly be more important than his own life?
He had utilized Sideswipe's cold ruthlessness toward Decepticons to slightly delay Sideswipe's pursuit of him.
Even if they had only bought him an extra dozen seconds or so, it was enough.
After darting into the passage, Sun Cheng's panicked mood quickly calmed down.
While rushing toward the passage exit, his hands did not stop moving.
He continuously retrieved sets of military C4 Bombs from his Spherical Space, quickly setting them before tossing them into the passage behind him.
Walking and tossing along the way, he had already set seven or eight sets of C4 Bombs in less than thirty seconds.
"Boom!"
Because the countdown timers were set extremely short, explosions began to follow one after another from behind!
The explosive power of the C4 Bombs was immense, instantly causing the passage to begin collapsing.
Although the shockwaves from the explosions kept rolling in and the high heat even scorched the surface of his chassis until it began to glow red.
Sun Cheng's pace did not falter in the slightest; he knew these C4 Bombs were not enough to completely destroy the passage, which the Decepticon Workers had specifically reinforced against vibrations, but only enough to collapse a section and fill the passage with falling concrete.
Sure enough, the roars and angry bellows soon coming from behind undoubtedly indicated that while these bombs could delay Sideswipe's pursuit speed, that was all they could do.
However, this was enough.
A few sets of bombs had once again bought him dozens of precious seconds, and Sun Cheng had already pushed his speed to the limit.
Like a Cheetah, he sprinted rapidly through the passage, and before long, he finally reached the end, seeing a wall sealed off by steel.
"The exit is here!"
Yet, seeing this tightly sealed wall, Sun Cheng's heart suddenly relaxed.
A smile could not help but appear on his face; amidst the roaring sounds growing closer behind him, he quickly raised the Plasma Cannon in his hand, aimed it at the steel wall in front of him, and fired a shot from his hand cannon.
"Bang!"
The highly concentrated energy exploded right in front of him, instantly blasting a hole in the thick steel wall of the American Nuclear Missile Silo large enough for him to pass through.
"Where do you think you're going, Decepticon vermin..."
At the turn of the passage a dozen meters away, accompanied by a low, cold, and stern mechanical voice, Sideswipe's figure appeared once again.
Sun Cheng turned his face, met his cold, murderous gaze, suddenly smiled at him, and raised his hand to fire three consecutive shots.
Then, without even looking at the Sideswipe behind him, he leaped into the hole, nimbly kicked off the wall on the other side of the silo, and in three or four movements, he was already near the mouth of the silo.
"Trying to run!"
Behind him came Sideswipe's cold, low hiss.
After dodging the three Plasma Cannon shots he had fired, Sideswipe followed closely behind and rushed out of the tunnel.
Seeing that Sun Cheng had already reached the mouth of the silo, his eyes overflowed with killing intent; his right hand suddenly moved, summoning his Triangular Blade, and he threw it with force, aiming at Sun Cheng.
"Sshhh!"
The sharp blade easily pierced Sun Cheng's right leg, pinning him to the wall.
"Damn it!"
Mechanical Life also feels pain, but the sensation is completely different from that of Carbon-based Life; it is transmitted to the Core as a specific type of data, as if a virus file named 'pain' had suddenly exploded within the Core, causing the Core to experience a brief disruption in information processing.
The blade pierced his chassis's right leg, pinning it firmly to the wall.
Sun Cheng looked down, his eyes turning fierce.
While aiming his Plasma Cannon at the Sideswipe below and firing two more shots, the massive energy consumption within his Spark made him feel a strong sense of weakness, just as he had after that Interstellar Transmission several months ago.
He hurriedly reached out with his left hand, grabbed the other end of the blade, and pulled with all his might.
"Clack..."
Accompanied by a harsh sound of the blade rubbing and piercing through his right leg, he soon pulled the blade out.
"It's mine now..."
With a ferocious expression, he said coldly to Sideswipe, who had already chased to within four or five meters below him, then Sun Cheng suddenly exerted force with his feet, kicked off the wall, and jumped again.
The next moment, he felt the vision captured by his electronic eyes suddenly change, and he jumped out of the silo.
"Rat-tat-tat..."
Just as he jumped out of the silo, rows of bullet marks instantly appeared on Sun Cheng's chassis.
Guarding the mouth of this silo was none other than the Autobot medical officer—Ratchet.
The Micro-reconnaissance Drones scattered all over the entrance had already told him about the situation here, but despite Ratchet guarding the spot, Sun Cheng's heart suddenly felt at ease.
Although Ratchet was one of the most excellent medical personnel on Cybertron, he was not a powerful Warrior.
Even though his chassis was easily left with a series of cracks by the Machine Gun Ratchet was equipped with, Sun Cheng ignored it; after jumping out of the silo and landing, he rolled on the ground to gain some distance, then leaped up again, stored Sideswipe's strange Triangular Blade into his Spherical Space, and immediately transformed into his Reaper Drone form before shooting into the sky.
Left on the ground, Sideswipe, who had just climbed out of the silo, glared at his retreating figure in the sky and roared viciously: "Get back here, Decepticon thief..."
Climbing rapidly, he ascended to an altitude of over ten thousand meters.
With his Core fully engaged, Sun Cheng soon detected that a special satellite from the higher reaches of outer space had locked onto him.
"This is... a Dark Spectrum Scan?"
His heart sank; now Sun Cheng finally knew why his actions had been exposed.
Soon, the Core scanned six fighter jets approaching him at high speed three hundred kilometers away.
After carefully analyzing the fluctuations returned by the Core's scan, he had already reached a conclusion.
It was F22s!
The U. S. military deployed their latest equipment, which was also the most advanced fourth-generation fighter jet currently on Earth!
Having just experienced a great battle, to avoid being tailed and subsequent complications, Sun Cheng directly pulled his flight altitude up to over twenty-five thousand meters, while simultaneously heading north all the way; pushing at full speed, half an hour later he had completely cleared the U. S. military's interception and entered Canadian territory.
After flying for a while longer, when he finally felt the influence of the chaotic geomagnetism, he slightly distinguished his direction via satellite before realizing he had entered the Arctic Circle.
