Chapter 228: The Message from the Explorer (Part 2)

~7 min read 1,288 words

Seeing the metal box sent flying by his own punch, Sun Cheng hurriedly stopped, walked over quickly, and picked up the metal box.

This was a strange box, crafted from an unknown metal, and it appeared to be about the same size as the kind of suitcase commonly used by humans.

Sun Cheng held it up before his eyes to examine it carefully; apart from the eyeball-shaped Elder Script mark displayed on the very top, the box had no other seams or patterns on its entire body, and even his Core could not scan it, so he could only shake it left and right a few times to test if there was anything inside.

Needless to say, this was a typical Cybertronian creation, employing an information protection system unique to Mechanical Life, used to ensure that the contents of the box would not easily fall into enemy hands.

"It seems there should be something inside, and something very important at that!"

Sun Cheng quietly held it in his hand and toyed with it for a while, and he immediately had an idea in his mind.

This metal box was almost indestructible and was likely used to store some important item.

As an intelligence expert for the Decepticon Legion, Frenzy had dealt with such items many times in the past; having absorbed all of his Memory Data, Sun Cheng could therefore say he was not unfamiliar with it.

The kind of security device manufactured by Mechanical Life was undoubtedly much more troublesome than human safes; for instance, the eyeball-shaped Elder Script on the metal box was actually the protection program to open it, and if one knew what it meant, one could undoubtedly open this box very easily.

However, Sun Cheng did not know how to interpret this ancient language.

Therefore, he could only choose to brute-force it.

A dead object that had been left for who knows how many years should, presumably, be safe.

Without further hesitation, Sun Cheng shifted his Core, and countless liquid metal joints immediately began to spread outward from his body.

Soon, the dense liquid metal joints had wrapped the metal box within them, and feedback data from his Core kept sounding in his mind.

"... High-level encryption protection system detected, automatically generating virus package, about to perform brute-force cracking... SH0047B Demon Virus generation complete... Intrusion function enabled... Scanning function activated... Data analysis function activated... Active interception function Awakening... Defense system Awakening... Core data encrypted... Beginning to release Demon Virus..."

"Warning, Demon Virus intercepted, unable to breach protection system... Replacing and regenerating virus package... Performing overflow information analysis... Ding, no overflow information detected..."

"HB8167L Berserker Virus generation complete... Re-enabling intrusion function... Scanning function activated... Data analysis function activated... Beginning to release Demon Virus..."

"Warning, Berserker Virus intercepted, unable to breach protection system... Replacing and regenerating virus package... Performing overflow information analysis... Ding, no overflow information detected..."

This standing still lasted for nearly an entire day without moving.

It was not until the wind suddenly picked up in the Lop Nur region that the incoming wind swept up sand and dust, quickly piling a thick layer of sand and soil around Sun Cheng's body.

Only then did a pleasant prompt suddenly sound from within his Core: "... Protection system successfully cracked..."

Accompanied by a soft 'pfft' sound, like an airtight structure suddenly leaking air, the metal box in his hand finally changed; it popped open automatically, revealing a thick metal plate inside that looked similar in size to a standard human 4k book.

"Hoo..."

Letting out a long breath, although Sun Cheng's eyes looked slightly dim, a joyful smile could not help but appear on his face.

Should one say it was truly worthy of being something left behind by those Explorers who arrived on Earth in the ancient past? It had taken him nearly a day, and only by exerting his full power was he able to crack it.

Hurriedly reaching out to take the metal plate from the metal box, Sun Cheng took it out and looked at it before him, frowning slightly.

This was a plain-looking metal plate, with all six sides as smooth as a mirror; one could neither see traces of mechanisms, nor were there any words or patterns left on it.

"Could this also be something encrypted?"

He did not believe that the Explorer who had used a protection system that nearly stumped even him, an intelligence expert, would have just casually placed an unknown metal plate inside.

Sun Cheng shifted his Core, just about to scan this metal plate again.

Suddenly, he felt a faint suction force continuously emanating from the plate in his hand.

Sensing the restlessness of the Spark within his body, Sun Cheng hesitated for a moment before releasing the restriction, allowing the plate to absorb energy from his Spark.

Soon, with the continuous influx of energy, a faint fluorescence began to flicker on the mirror-like, transparent, and shiny metal plate.

The plate's absorption of energy from his Spark did not last long!

Sun Cheng soon noticed the disappearance of the suction force; he checked his Spark and discovered that he had only lost a few dozen points of energy, which was still within a range he could accept.

Catching the change in the metal plate out of the corner of his eye after it had absorbed enough energy, he could not help but look at the plate in his hand again.

The next moment, a beam of light rose slowly from the plate, soon revealing the figure of a burly, tall, and terrifying mechanical Warrior covered in explosive muscles.

However, what surprised Sun Cheng somewhat was that the head and body of this mechanical Warrior revealed from the metal plate still displayed numerous beast-like traces, allowing him to determine at a glance that this was a mechanical Warrior with a beast form.

Just as he was feeling surprised, a high-pitched and somewhat grating electronic sound began to ring out.

Sun Cheng was startled upon hearing it; these strange electronic sounds, which to human ears were no different from noise, were the very language that had been passed down on the planet Cybertron since ancient times.

"... When you hear this audio, I must have already returned to the AllSpark. Although this is a protection system created with the last bit of my remaining energy, I must admit that you are excellent enough to be able to break through it..."

"... I am the Beast General, the most valiant Warrior under the command of Prima, one of the great Thirteen Primes..."

"... In the ancient past, under the leadership of the Thirteen Primes, we defeated the invaders from the planet Quintessa."

"... However, not long after the Yihui was established, driven by power and desire, Maxim betrayed the Primes. He secretly manufactured a giant monster possessing a mad fighting instinct, and used sowing discord and sophistry to intensify the conflict between the two Primes, Megatronus and Solus Prime, ultimately triggering the schism of the Primes..."

"... Because he accidentally killed Solus Prime during a duel, the remorseful Prime Megatronus voluntarily gave up the Requiem Blaster, letting the other Primes load it onto a spaceship and launch it into the unknown universe. He subsequently requested to be exiled, and under the supervision of six Primes, led us Pathfinders to begin an expedition into the unknown universe..."

PS:

Sorry, I missed another update yesterday. I tried to connect the history of Cybertron with the movie version, but I found that Michael Bay and the Hollywood screenwriters are truly a nightmare; the second movie version created such a huge loophole with the War of the Primes 17,000 years ago that it racked my brains and I still don't know how to fill this plot hole.
