Chapter 248: Megatron

~7 min read 1,302 words

Soaring high above the sky, Sun Cheng looked down at the endless sea below, a sharp glint flashing in his eyes.

"Mariana Trench, not far now..."

Unbelievable!

Sun Cheng truly found it unbelievable!

Originally, even he hadn't held high expectations for Braxton; he thought it would be a decent harvest if the other party could just find out which military base NEST was stationed at.

But Sun Cheng never expected that this guy was truly not simple.

Braxton not only found out that the NEST troops were stationed on Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean, but what surprised him even more was that this guy had actually discovered a major secret—the United States Navy Pacific Command had ordered an Ohio-class ballistic missile nuclear submarine, fully loaded with nuclear warheads, to remain stationed and patrol near the Mariana Trench.

A ballistic missile nuclear submarine, which was vital to the United States, was not only fully loaded with nuclear warheads but had also been ordered to patrol near the Mariana Trench.

Even more subtle was that this intelligence was seen by Braxton from high-level CIA officials, stored together with NEST's intelligence.

In other words, there was very likely something in the Mariana Trench, and it was inevitably related to the Autobots!

After realizing this, he escorted Braxton all the way to Mexico, arranged a new identity for him, and had himself fly to Brazil.

Afterwards, considering that the Ghost, fully loaded with resources, would take at least another day or so to reach the South Pacific, he happened to have some free time now.

Plus, he was indeed piqued by Braxton's intelligence, so after a moment of consideration, Sun Cheng adjusted his direction and headed straight for the Mariana Trench from Mexico.

Just as he flew within fifty nautical miles of the trench, Sun Cheng felt his Core beating wildly.

"Interesting, three Aegis ships, one Ohio, two Seawolfs... although this isn't far from Guam, isn't this level of vigilance just a blatant admission that there is something hidden here..."

Sensing the electromagnetic waves emitted by radars from the sea surface and below, Sun Cheng circled in the air for a while; he was worried that there might very well be Autobots nearby given this level of protection.

Immediately, he dove rapidly from the high altitude of over ten thousand meters, and only when he was about to reach the sea surface did he transform back into his combat form, then plunged into the sea, swimming toward the Mariana Trench dozens of nautical miles away!

Although he was on the seabed, Sun Cheng's speed was not slow at all; even the fastest submarine currently on Earth, the Ghost, was more than a notch behind him.

Therefore, he covered the distance of dozens of nautical miles in just over ten minutes, and that was from the seabed thousands of meters deep.

Even though under the deep sea of thousands of meters, the seawater had cut off all light, making the surroundings look pitch black and inevitably making one's heart creep.

However, Sun Cheng was not a fragile human of flesh and blood in this world; what he had taken over was Frenzy, a Mechanical Lifeform from the planet Cybertron.

So, after knocking out a deep-sea monster fish that looked like it only appeared in horror movies with one punch, he walked quickly and indifferently toward the deep trench that appeared abruptly a dozen meters away, looking like the mouth of a terrifying beast.

"Huh..."

Just as he walked to the mouth of the trench and was about to jump down, the expression on Sun Cheng's face suddenly froze.

Just a moment ago, he had captured a strange fluctuation from below the trench, which was very different from electromagnetic waves and somewhat resembled the communication fluctuations of the planet Cybertron.

"Core activation, performing data analysis..."

The fluctuation was very subtle and appeared abruptly; had his Core not been active ever since he dove into the sea, he would likely have ignored this fluctuation.

With the Core running at full power, the trace of the fluctuation he had just captured was quickly cracked by his Core.

"XXXX, XXXX!"

The fluctuation cracked by the Core actually displayed two sets of numbers.

This discovery made Sun Cheng frown; the fluctuation that appeared eerily from the depths of the trench was transmitting a set of numbers to the outside world.

After thinking for a moment, his face suddenly turned gloomy.

"Wait, if I substitute these two sets of numbers as latitude and longitude... could this be a set of precise coordinates..."

Looking down at the dark trench beside him, Sun Cheng finally began to hesitate.

He was a suspicious person, especially in this world, where there was no one he could rely on except himself.

Therefore, Sun Cheng had always tried his best to avoid putting himself in danger, because he knew very well that if he encountered an accident, no one would come to save him.

"What should I do... what exactly is under the trench? Is it a trap or a distress signal?"

After hesitating and pacing for a while, Sun Cheng finally made a decision; he gritted his teeth, took two quick steps forward, and then leaped down into the deepest part of the Mariana Trench.

He had already come this far, and seeing that the secret about it was about to be revealed, how could he possibly give up.

Sinking slowly toward the deepest sea on Earth, feeling the increasing pressure around his body, the Core soon gave him a set of perfect analytical data.

"Ten thousand meters of water pressure cannot cause much impact on my current body? A Mechanical Lifeform from the planet Cybertron is truly a race favored by this universe..."

Turning the Core's scanning function to the maximum, before he had even landed on the bottom of the trench, the scanning electromagnetic waves emitted by the Core had already followed the set of numbers captured just now and detected several uneven spots at those coordinates!

And when the scanned data was fed back into his Core, Sun Cheng's face changed abruptly.

Subconsciously, he wanted to stimulate his Spark and dash toward the sea surface with all his might, getting as far away from here as possible!

There was no other reason!

The Core had scanned a ferocious mechanical giant lying flat on the bottom of the trench at that location.

Sun Cheng was all too familiar with this mechanical giant; he had even breathed a sigh of relief for a long time after the Battle of Las Vegas because of his passing.

That's right!

The ferocious mechanical giant he discovered at the bottom of the Mariana Trench was none other than the Decepticon Leader who had died after the Battle of Las Vegas—Megatron!

"Damn it... Megatron... how could it be Megatron..."

Megatron was actually hidden here by the U. S. military; they ridiculously thought that the deep sea of Earth could destroy the strongest body of this Decepticon Leader, which once looked down upon the planet Cybertron!

It was truly ridiculous!

However, such a ridiculous thing!

Sun Cheng now had no time or mood to mock or joke; he was now plunged into deep fear and anxiety!

Megatron, who should have been dead, was eerily sending out a distress signal!

In an instant, his heart panicked!

PS:

In Transformers 2, Megatron was actually thrown into the Laurentian Abyss; this is the screenwriter playing a joke. In the movie "The Hunt for Red October," the U. S. Navy was meant to sink the "Red October," which is a Typhoon-class nuclear submarine, there.

Considering that in the movie, the screenwriter gave the Laurentian Abyss the title of the world's deepest trench, whether as a joke or out of genuine stupidity, I just moved it to the Mariana.
