Chapter 256: Brazil Strategy 2
On the east coast of Brazil, because of Sun Cheng's sudden intervention, an undercurrent began to surge within this South American nation.
A man drove to the seaside villa. Through the rearview mirror, Rivera, his face gloomy and unsightly, looked behind him vigilantly for quite a while. Only after confirming that no one was following him did he open the door and drive the car into the villa's garage.
Then, walking quickly into the villa, Rivera looked around the living room for a good while before looking at a roughly 60-inch LCD television hanging on the wall, complaining loudly and irritably: "It's me. You already knew I was coming, didn't you? There's no one else outside?"
As his words fell, the LCD television in front of Rivera immediately changed, its surface beginning to vibrate violently.
Suddenly, amidst a faint sound of mechanical parts rubbing against each other, the LCD television quickly fell from the wall, and before it even hit the ground, it had shockingly transformed into a ferocious leopard-shaped Mechanical Beast radiating a metallic luster.
Rivera subconsciously took two steps back. Only when the ferocious Mechanical Beast, which looked exactly like a clouded leopard, raised its head and looked at him with a strange expression on its savage beast face did he shiver and stop in his tracks.
However, Rivera soon seemed to remember something, his face quickly changing to an expression of dissatisfaction as he looked at the ferocious leopard-shaped Mechanical Beast in front of him again, his words carrying irrepressible anger.
He questioned: "This is not what we agreed upon, Your Excellency 2... Do you have any idea what kind of big trouble I'm in now because of you!"
"Caused you trouble?"
The leopard-shaped Mechanical Beast tilted its head slightly, looking completely indifferent: "Rivera, you don't mean to tell me you're just talking about a few dead police officers and prosecutors, do you?"
Seeing it speak of such a serious matter with an expression as casual as if it were drinking water, Rivera felt as if he were about to be fuming with rage.
Consequently, his anger could no longer be suppressed, and he snapped furiously: "Just a few dead police officers and prosecutors? You really dare say that! Overnight, four high-ranking officials of the Rio de Janeiro State Security Bureau died, one of whom was the police commander of Rio de Janeiro. The few prosecutors who died were all the main persons in charge sent by Brasilia to investigate the 'Military Trade Case'! Now, you've practically poked a giant hole in the sky of Rio, and you actually tell me it's just a few dead police officers and prosecutors?"
Rivera was nearly driven mad with rage!
More than half a year ago, because some leverage had fallen into the hands of a certain faction, he had been forced to take the risk of importing a batch of arms for the other party in the name of the Brazilian government.
As it turned out, half a month ago, following an investigation by the United States intelligence organization FBI, the Brazilian military trade company he worked for entered the sight of the United States government, and after several instances of pressure from the other side, the Brazilian government also began to investigate the Nebrina Trade Import and Export Company where Rivera worked.
Just as he was in a panic, a ferocious mechanical giant calling itself 'Frenzy' descended from the sky and appeared in his villa.
Although the appearance of this mechanical lifeform, which claimed to be from the 'planet Cybertron', made Rivera realize that he seemed to have no way back.
However, reality was clearly far more dangerous than he had anticipated.
'Frenzy' left after a brief appearance, leaving behind a leopard-shaped Mechanical Beast he called '2', which was the dangerous guy Rivera was facing now, to assist him.
It was precisely this Mechanical Monster named 2 that had made Rivera deeply understand what danger was in the short span of the past week.
To complete the Task entrusted by its master—'Frenzy'—helping him resolve the current dangerous situation was the primary issue.
2 clearly possessed impressive intelligence; it didn't even take Rivera much time to make it understand that he was currently being investigated by the Brazilian government, and once he ran into trouble, the Task his master 'Frenzy' had given him would be impossible to complete.
This Mechanical Monster did not let him down. 2 soon took action, and the moment it struck, it infiltrated a heavily guarded prison in Rio de Janeiro and killed his confidants who had already been controlled by the police.
This move did indeed temporarily resolve Rivera's crisis, not because the police and prosecutors would find it hard to continue investigating the 'Military Trade Case' due to a lack of evidence.
Rather, it bought him the most critical time, allowing him to start exercising his connections to fight back.
However, Rivera's suspicion also rose to the highest level because of this.
Almost immediately after his few confidants died in prison, he himself received a summons from the prosecutors.
Not long after, the capital, Brasilia, also sent an investigation team composed of several young prosecutors to Rio, and at the same time, the Rio police began to blatantly search his office and residence.
The tightening situation made it increasingly difficult for Rivera to cope.
He had no choice but to seek help from 2 again, hoping it could step in to help him resolve some trouble.
2's second strike also did not disappoint him, or rather, 2's actions made him start to panic a little.
To help him divert the police's attention, it first created several attacks in the dead of night, destroying a police station, two security companies, and the businesses of over a dozen local gangs, plunging all of Rio into a tense situation.
Subsequently, in just one day, 2 successively carried out several assassinations of politicians in the city and even briefly invaded a training Base of the Rio de Janeiro military police, blowing up several armored vehicles.
If its actions had ended there, Rivera would have breathed a sigh of relief.
Because thanks to 2, Rio was now in complete chaos, and even if there were still people keeping him in mind, it was nowhere near as bad as a few days ago, when the eyes of the entire Rio police and prosecution were fixed on him.
Unfortunately, 2 did not stop. It seemed that the previous wanton behavior had triggered the cold mark of the Decepticon hidden deep in its Core, or perhaps it still felt that Rio wasn't chaotic enough.
After continuing to attack the major drug lords hidden in two of Rio's largest slums, 2 finally turned its gaze back to Rivera.
Just the day before yesterday, it spent an entire night carrying out several major cases that shocked all of Rio. Not only did those prosecutors sent from the capital, Brasilia, to investigate him all die at the hands of 2, but several high-ranking officials in the Rio police world were also murdered at the same time.
Even with his butt, Rivera knew that this time it had poked a giant hornet's nest.
If only one or two of those prosecutors had been killed, it would have been fine; it could barely have been blamed on the recent chaotic situation in Rio.
But with all the prosecutors dead in Rio, and all murdered on the same night, combined with the task they had come to Rio for, anyone with normal intelligence would naturally associate this with the previous deaths of his confidants and turn their suspicious gaze toward Rivera.
It could be anticipated that what awaited him would likely be an even worse situation than the current one.
Regrettably, Rivera's anger was met only by a low, soft chuckle from 2.
It shook its head slightly and said in its sharp, low electronic voice: "Rivera, your recent performance has truly disappointed me. The deadline set by the master is almost here, and yet you only care about yourself, which makes me have to wonder if you are someone who has prioritized..."
"W-what do you mean..." Rivera's face changed drastically upon hearing this.
2 bared its teeth at him in a grin, its mouthful of sharp teeth making it look exceptionally ferocious.
It didn't rush to answer, but instead turned its head to look into the depths of the corridor beside the living room and said softly: "Stop hiding, come out..."
As soon as the words fell, a burst of footsteps immediately came from the corridor.
Rivera subconsciously followed its gaze toward the corridor, and soon his eyes suddenly widened: "It's you!"
