Chapter 257: Brazil Strategy 3
"It's you!"
Hearing footsteps approaching, Rivera subconsciously looked toward the corridor, and soon his eyes widened, clearly having recognized who the visitor was.
Braxton, a man whose identity was a mystery!
A few days ago, 2 brought him to the villa from who knows where, and his new identity was even something Rivera had helped arrange.
This mysterious man had chosen a new name for himself, "Yuri Orlov," and his household registration showed him to be a French immigrant.
In Rivera's view, everything about this guy was a mystery.
His relationship with 2, or rather the Mechanical Life forms behind 2, seemed far more intimate than that of Rivera himself, who had been the first to make contact with them.
This caused a sense of crisis to arise in Rivera's heart for no reason!
Over the past two days, Yuri had been very active in Rio, using a massive sum of money wired from an unknown source.
Judging by the news sent back by the eyes Rivera had sent to tail Yuri, this guy seemed to be in contact with several security companies in the city, as if he wanted to take them over.
Braxton, oh, no, he should be called "Yuri Orlov" now.
Yuri walked up to Rivera with a brilliant smile, holding a large bottle of expensive Petrus and two red wine glasses, "Mr. Rivera, you don't mind if I take a bottle of red wine to taste, do you?"
He shook the large bottle of Petrus in his hand; this was a top-tier red wine from the world-renowned winery—Petrus of France.
The year 2001 had abundant sunshine in France, which counted as a bumper year for France's many wineries.
That year, Petrus also resumed brewing large-format dry red wine after a three-year hiatus; the bottle of Petrus in Yuri's hand was the fine wine brewed that year, and by the time it changed hands and reached Rivera, the price was no less than 20,000 Reais, nearly 7,000 US dollars, making it an out-and-out top-tier red wine.
Although Rivera was a man who loved wine, his attention did not linger for even a second on the large bottle of Petrus in Yuri's hand at this moment.
Finally sensing that something was wrong, he didn't even look at Yuri, but hurriedly turned toward 2 and asked nervously and urgently: "Your Excellency 2, what is the meaning of this?"
2 raised its head, and the gaze it directed at him no longer held a smile, and even its voice turned cold.
"What is the meaning of this? Rivera, if you don't even understand what this means, then you truly have no value at all!"
Having said that, it didn't even look at the suddenly pale Rivera, but turned to look at Yuri, who was watching them with interest on the side, and asked: "How is the preparation going?"
"Everything is proceeding according to plan; give me another week, and I will be able to complete the first target!"
Yuri shrugged his shoulders: "Praise this country, it is even more wonderful than the United States!"
Looking at the undisguised excitement on his face, one could tell how satisfied Yuri was with his current life.
Ever since he was brought out of the United States a week ago by that Mechanical Life form that descended from the sky and called itself 'Frenzy', and received the promise from Frenzy that it would support him to become the 'King of Brazil', Yuri had originally flown from Mexico to Brazil with a skeptical heart.
But now, although his time in contact with those Mechanical Life forms claiming to be from the planet Cybertron was shorter than Rivera's, Yuri had long since willingly offered his loyalty, and even though someone as clever as him had long realized that these visitors from beyond the stars seemed to have designs on controlling Brazil, the fifth-largest country in the world by land area in South America, he still hadn't changed in the slightest.
Heaven knows how satisfied he was with his current life.
Yuri never lacked money again; no matter how much he wanted, 2 could satisfy him, always more than enough, and it never even asked about the usage.
He was even less short of women; if you have money, would you really lack women? That is truly the height of absurdity!
And all he needed to do was to exert his cleverness and wisdom to the fullest to help these Mechanical Life forms control Brazil as quickly as possible; it was that simple.
Yuri's answer clearly made 2 very satisfied.
It knew the master's plan: to control the country beneath their feet as quickly as possible.
Clearly, compared to Rivera, who had always remained vigilant against them, this human the master had newly sent was undoubtedly much more sensible.
He might be more insatiable than Rivera, but he had always served the master and itself diligently.
For some time recently, a considerable portion of its actions in Rio had come from Yuri's suggestions.
A chaotic Brazil was clearly more conducive to the survival of conspirators.
And here, it truly contained all the elements for chaos.
Brazil had many foreign immigrants, the gap between rich and poor in the country was growing, the economy had been sluggish in recent years, and corruption was frequent.
The absolute worst, however, was that this country did not ban guns, and drugs were rampant.
Gangs and drug lords possessed large quantities of weapons, making the momentum for Brazil to become a "second Mexico" increasingly obvious.
Therefore, Yuri had proposed many suggestions to it: inciting conflicts among the many gangs within Brazil, constantly attacking the Brazilian military police to let the dissatisfaction of this paramilitary force erupt, assassinating some politicians, paralyzing local governments, while simultaneously supporting politicians close to their side to take office, and secretly using the name of security companies to begin building an armed force, waiting to exert power when Brazil fell into chaos.
Now, the deadline for the order the master had given it when he left was drawing closer and closer, but Rivera only cared about himself and had no intention of building influence for the master among the Brazilian elite, which had caused 2 to completely lose patience with him!
At once, after hearing Yuri's words, 2 nodded slightly to him in satisfaction, "Well done, just ask for whatever money you need; the master's tolerance toward loyal servants will exceed your imagination!"
Upon hearing this, Yuri's eyes lit up, and he nodded repeatedly without delay.
However, as soon as 2 finished speaking and turned its head to look at Rivera, its eyes narrowed instantly.
"Rivera, you have already failed too many of the master's expectations... No one likes a slave who eats the benefits but doesn't do the work..."
Rivera's body couldn't stop trembling; he heard the undisguised killing intent in the words of this ferocious leopard-shaped Mechanical Beast before him. It was clear that his procrastination over the past period had caused the other party to completely lose patience.
In his mind, the stunning appearance of Frenzy from back then, as well as the souls who had died tragically at the hands of 2 in recent times, flashed through involuntarily.
Realizing that disaster was imminent, he figured he wouldn't be able to escape even if he wanted to.
Rivera finally felt fear; his legs went weak and he knelt on the floor, trembling as he looked at it, begging: "Your Excellency 2... I know I was wrong... please give me another chance... I promise, I won't dare to do it again..."
On the side, Yuri watched him with interest; the large bottle of Petrus in his hand had been opened at some point, and he had already poured himself a glass of wine, holding it in his hand and savoring this top-tier fine wine from France.
2 bared its teeth, a mouthful of sharp, thorn-like teeth making it look even more ferocious.
Clearly, it had completely lost patience with Rivera, and the front claws resting on the ground had already exposed several sharp metal bone spurs at some point.
It raised its front claw and slowly lifted it in front of Rivera, its eyes full of coldness, "It's too late, you no longer have any value..."
"No..."
Rivera wailed, his body trembling so much he almost collapsed onto the ground.
Watching as 2 raised its claw high, it looked like it was about to kill Rivera.
Yuri, who had been watching the show on the side for a long time, suddenly spoke up, "Your Excellency, please wait a moment... he might still have some value..."
His gaze lingered on Rivera, who still had a face full of panic and terror, and Yuri shook the wine glass in his hand and said slowly.
"I have negotiated with two security companies and am in urgent need of a batch of arms to replenish them. There is no need to trouble you and the master with such a small matter; why not leave it to him to handle..."
"I need arms... I can get them, I promise..."
As if grabbing onto a straw to save his life, Rivera hurriedly agreed upon hearing this.
Draining the fine wine in his glass in one gulp, Yuri curved his lips into an arc, walked up to him holding the empty glass, and said in a flat voice: "Within two days, I want one thousand MD-2s, rocket launchers, heavy machine guns, Grenade Launchers, several RPGs..."
After speaking, without even looking at Rivera, whose expression had turned ugly once again, he shrugged at Number 2, "If he cannot even manage this small request, then he truly has no value at all; at that time, please do as you wish..."
The blue light in Number 2's eyes flickered for a moment, its gaze lingering on him and Rivera respectively for a while, until after a dozen seconds or so, it was seen slowly retracting the sharp bone spurs on its claws.
"Remember, this is the last time..."
PS:
Haven't written for a few days, so my hand feels a bit rusty. But I feel like I'm gradually getting it back; barring any accidents, I will resume the minimum of two updates today.
