Chapter 259: Transformation Engineering (Part 1)

~6 min read 1,198 words

Base No. 2, deep within the Warehouse.

Near the underground lake at the depths of the karst cave, a previously empty stretch of land had undergone a striking transformation in less than half a month.

By the lakeside, a massive glass house made of specially crafted radiation-proof glass was currently under construction.

Teams of industrial robots were constantly busy all around, securing thick, newly manufactured radiation-proof glass panels onto upright alloy scaffolds.

Dozens of meters away, several huge thin lead plates were laid out on the open ground.

Judging by the size of the lead plates, it appeared they were intended to be fixed to the exterior of the giant glass house as a secondary layer of protection.

Although the glass house was not yet finished, it did not in the slightest affect the experiment currently in full swing inside.

Picking up a new model of industrial robot that Atlas and the others had just manufactured, Sun Cheng walked to the front of a strangely shaped device, opened it, and secured the dormant industrial robot inside.

What stood before him was undoubtedly a very strangely shaped piece of equipment.

Its entire body was made of a material resembling transparent glass, through which circuits and components could be vaguely seen.

Several special brackets extended from the transparent walls of the device, firmly holding the industrial robot Sun Cheng had brought inside, much like a display case.

"Huan, you may begin..."

Staring intently at the industrial robot secured inside the device before him, even though the blue light in his eyes appeared somewhat dim, Sun Cheng had no intention of stopping and gave the order without lifting his head.

"Yes, Master..."

Following a cold electronic voice that suddenly rang out inside the giant glass house, a low roar suddenly erupted outside, and a massive machine that looked exactly like a ship-borne small Nuclear Reactor was immediately activated, with a steady stream of electricity beginning to be transmitted into the glass house.

The next moment, the device in front of Sun Cheng also reacted.

Inside, a thin, long, cylindrical needle slowly extended from the top of the glass-like device; an AllSpark Fragment was embedded at the tip of this needle, which continuously adjusted its position until it finally stopped approximately thirty centimeters above the head of the industrial robot inside.

As a continuous flow of electrical energy poured into the AllSpark Fragment within the device, even through the special radiation-proof glass wall, Sun Cheng, who was standing right in front of the device, began to feel a rich stream of information constantly intensifying.

"Master, the Energy Concentration has already reached the sixth level... shall I trigger the energy pulse?"

Beside his ear, the familiar electronic voice of 'Huan' rang out again.

Staring fixedly at the device before him, it was only after a long while that Sun Cheng slowly shook his head.

"Wait a little longer..."

If this experiment were included, they had already conducted five experiments in the past half month.

At the very beginning, when he was trying to verify his hypothesis, he had simply used an AllSpark Fragment and pressed it against the target, almost gambling on the hope that it possessed the ability to transform.

In the Mariana Trench, after Sun Cheng had read the massive amount of Memory Data from Megatron, he naturally would no longer choose that kind of gambling-style experimental method.

One must know that the AllSpark had been controlled by the Decepticon Legion for a very long time in the past.

And within the Decepticon Legion, there was no shortage of great Scientists like Shockwave and Starscream, who naturally had conducted considerable research on the AllSpark.

For instance, the set of equipment before Sun Cheng was a small, simplified version manufactured by Atlas and the others, based on the arsenal designed by the Decepticon Legion back in the day.

"Master, the Energy Concentration has reached the seventh level. It is recommended to trigger the energy pulse immediately... otherwise, it is very likely to damage this device..."

Not long after, the voice of 'Huan' rang out by Sun Cheng's ear again, its tone a bit more urgent than before.

Without needing a reminder, Sun Cheng had actually already seen that the AllSpark Fragment fixed at the tip of the cylindrical needle inside the device was beginning to turn red at a speed visible to the naked eye, and it was emitting astonishing heat.

"Wait a little longer..."

His eyes flickered, and Sun Cheng immediately refused.

In Megatron's memories, standard Cybertronian Mechanical Life at the moment of birth was known as a Protomorph.

A so-called Protomorph was, in fact, a series of already partially formed circuits.

It was just like a human embryo in the developmental stage; it possessed simple vital signs, but everything was immature.

Therefore, it needed to absorb a large amount of nutrients—that is, energy of extremely high purity—to allow those simple circuits to generate organs.

Before a Protomorph evolved into Mechanical Life, it could be shaped according to a pre-set Moban, or it could form naturally.

There were several methods to make a Protomorph successfully evolve into Mechanical Life, and natural gestation was undoubtedly the most high-risk.

On Cybertron, almost ninety-nine percent of Protomorphs exposed to the natural environment would easily perish.

And the oldest and most reliable method to make a Protomorph evolve into Mechanical Life was to use the Matrix of Leadership.

The Matrix of Leadership was said to be a creation artifact that had already existed in the ancient era of Cybertron; however, before the planet Cybertron gave birth to an advanced civilization, it had disappeared along with the Thirteen Primes as they fought against legendary cosmic invaders, and later it was suspected to have been brought to Earth in the distant past by one of the Primes.

Subsequently, the Quintessons, who invaded and colonized Cybertron, relied on the advanced technology they continuously plundered from major star systems, and the Quintesson Scientists explored a viable path.

That is, attempting to prepare nutrient solutions to simulate a natural gestation environment, allowing the Protomorph to successfully evolve into Mechanical Life.

Many Decepticon Warriors, including Megatron, were born through this method during the period when the Quintessons colonized the planet Cybertron.

It was just that this method required the consumption of massive amounts of energy and resources.

During the Ancient Council period, after the Cybertronians drove away the invaders from the planet Quintessa, they created a glorious civilization that countless Cybertronians still miss to this day, based on the foundation of absorbing the advanced technology of the Quintessons.

The AllSpark was suspected to have been born during this period; it was a substitute for the Matrix of Leadership created by the unprecedentedly powerful Cybertronian civilization.

In the past, the Decepticon Legion had controlled the AllSpark for a very long time, and Megatron and the others used the AllSpark to transform massive amounts of Cannon Fodder, destroying the Autobot resistance bit by bit.

And after losing the AllSpark, a group of Decepticon Scientists led by Shockwave and Starscream, after conducting a series of cruel and insane experiments, groped their way toward a method of mass-producing low-level Cannon Fodder by manufacturing a Core.
