Chapter 26: Laserbeak

~7 min read 1,265 words

Opening his eyes, Sun Cheng realized that the spider-type Decepticon had stopped replenishing his energy; as he opened his eyes, he saw the other party staring at him with great interest.

"It took over 900 units of energy to fill you up; how did you manage to consume so much?"

"Are you trying to pry into Lord Starscream's plans?"

Sun Cheng asked coldly in return.

The spider-type Decepticon was instantly frightened; although he was, like the current Sun Cheng, a lowest-level Decepticon, he lacked the background of Frenzy—he was merely a medical-type grunt, the kind of cannon fodder manufactured in batches.

Starscream's reputation for cruelty and wickedness immediately intimidated him; the medical Decepticon awkwardly turned his head away, clearly not daring to ask any more.

Retracting the fully charged Core back into his body, Sun Cheng touched his chest with a strange expression, his eyes thoughtful.

"The Level 2 Core I brought into reality was locked in a drawer, some distance from my body, so that's why it wasn't brought back?"

Thinking carefully, whether it was when he first brought his iPhone 5 to this world or when he brought that Level 2 Core back to reality, both had one thing in common: they were both by his side.

After realizing this, vague ideas began to form in Sun Cheng's mind, but before he could grasp the train of thought, his Spy Template issued a warning just as he walked out of the Supply Room.

Hurriedly pulling himself out of his complex thoughts, he turned his head and his expression turned cold; not far away, a rapid-fire machine gun was aimed at him, and its owner, as if teasing him, kept adjusting his aim back and forth between his limbs, chest, and head—it was none other than Reflector.

"Are you looking to die?"

Sun Cheng let out a cold snort, a fierce glare appearing in his eyes as he looked at him: "Don't think that just because I was downgraded after being revived, I would be afraid of trash like you from the Camera Squad!"

Returning to this world and facing Reflector once again, Sun Cheng no longer felt any cowardice toward him.

Having fully received the sealed memories of Frenzy and thoroughly understood what kind of people the three members of the Camera Squad were, he was now very confident, knowing that Reflector would not dare to attack him again.

After Barricade's interference last time, this guy definitely knew that Starscream needed to use him now.

Although the three pieces of trash from the Camera Squad all had varying degrees of mental issues, they were top-tier experts at shirking responsibility and avoiding danger; otherwise, they wouldn't have survived until after the war when so many high-level Decepticons had fallen during the Cybertronian Civil War, despite these three having negligible combat power.

Therefore, Sun Cheng knew very well that as long as he maintained the arrogant attitude of the 'Frenzy' from before he died in battle, and played on the information asymmetry, betting that Starscream would never let Reflector know about his plans, this guy would absolutely not dare to attack him.

Clearly, he had bet correctly.

Keenly sensing that Sun Cheng's attitude toward him was completely different from last time, panic clearly appeared in Reflector's eyes, "You... your memory..."

"What? Are you scared? Hmph... with Lord Starscream's intervention, I will be able to restore my original strength once the task is complete. Disgusting trash, get lost..."

Putting on a fierce appearance, Sun Cheng bared his teeth at the panicked Reflector, feeling incredibly relieved, while also feeling a sense of fortune.

"Good thing... good thing it's this guy Reflector, and not Viewfinder or Spectro..."

As for the three members of the Camera Squad, if he had restored his peak combat power as 'Frenzy', although he couldn't beat their combined form, Sun Cheng was confident he could get away even if the three of them teamed up against him.

However, judging from the newly absorbed sealed memory data of 'Frenzy', the combat power of the Camera Squad was actually decent; after all, most of the Cassette Corps didn't have great combat power either.

The most shameless one in the Camera Squad was undoubtedly the Reflector in front of him; this guy bullied the weak and feared the strong, was greedy for power and credit, and would sell out his other two teammates the moment he saw the situation turn bad.

However, compared to his other two teammates, this guy with obvious weaknesses was actually the easiest to deal with.

Compared to Reflector, Sun Cheng was undoubtedly more wary of Viewfinder and Spectro in the Camera Squad; the former was very dangerous, and the latter was extremely troublesome.

Viewfinder, the leader of the Camera Trio, was also the most despicable of the three; this nasty-tempered guy's greatest hobby was blackmailing colleagues who were derelict in their duties or had made mistakes and feared punishment from their superiors. Arrogance might be his fatal flaw, but his combat power was likely among the strongest of the low-level Decepticons; even against high-level Decepticon Warriors, he dared to fire a few shots before running away.

As for Spectro, Sun Cheng remembered he was also an intelligence expert; the Decepticon Legion scientist who created him had once tested a special alloy on him. Although the technology wasn't very mature at the time, that experiment gave Spectro a body comparable to a high-level Decepticon Warrior, and it would be very difficult to deal with once he latched onto you.

After scaring Reflector away with some threats and intimidation, Sun Cheng was thoughtful; he remembered that the Camera Trio was basically inseparable.

However, looking at Reflector's attitude, he guessed that Viewfinder and Spectro had likely been sent away by Starscream as well; he just didn't know how many unspeakable plans this insidious and cunning conspirator was hiding privately.

Because he still remembered Starscream's instructions before heading to the Supply Room, Sun Cheng prepared to head to the Incubation Room after coming out.

Before he even reached the hall, he suddenly felt a violent throbbing of his Core, so he immediately stopped, stood there with his eyes closed for a full dozen seconds, and only then opened his eyes again.

"Starscream actually guessed right; it really is Laserbeak..."

It turned out that just a moment ago, he had received a remote communication, and the person contacting him was Laserbeak of the Cassette Corps.

Just as Starscream had guessed, Soundwave had already sent Laserbeak to Earth; after arriving on Earth, he contacted Sun Cheng at the first opportunity and arranged to meet him as soon as possible.

After thinking for only a moment, Sun Cheng had already made a decision; neither Starscream nor Soundwave were big shots he could deal with at his current stage. If it weren't for some of 'Frenzy's' experiences, he would be eager to return to the Cassette Corps and cling to Soundwave's leg right now.

Unfortunately, now that he had recovered 'Frenzy's' memories, he couldn't guess Soundwave's current attitude toward him; thinking this way, Sun Cheng felt that staying with Starscream was actually more beneficial for him.

"Since the 'tribute' has been delivered, I must submit it quickly; regardless of what Starscream is plotting against Soundwave, getting the Spark he promised me is the most beneficial thing for me right now!"

Having made up his mind, Sun Cheng was in no rush to reply to Laserbeak; he immediately quickened his pace toward the Incubation Room, preparing to report the news of Laserbeak's arrival to Starscream first and await his next order.
