Chapter 482
Very quickly, a steady stream of battle reports was delivered into Sun Cheng's hands.
He also finally confirmed that in the Mariana Trench region, surrounding the remains of Megatron, a rather difficult defensive battle had been fought between the Autobots and the Decepticons.
Through the military satellites awakened by the Base, the identities of the several invading Decepticons could be roughly determined.
Although it had long been expected, Sun Cheng would have preferred to have guessed wrong.
A Mechanical Beast that looked four or five parts similar to his previous body could basically be confirmed to be Ravage.
This guy, just like Frenzy whom he had possessed, belonged to the Decepticon intelligence organization under the command of Soundwave—the Cassette Corps.
Regarding Ravage, even his predecessor did not know much about it.
It was the most mysterious one among the Cassette Corps, and its current beast form was a type of Mechanical Beast born on the planet Cybertron called a "Ravage Lion"; as for whether it originally came from a "Ravage Lion," his predecessor did not know.
The appearance of Ravage was definitely not good news, but compared to it, what gave Sun Cheng the biggest headache was that a previous guess of his had been confirmed.
Devastator had arrived!
When the Vanguard had killed Demolishor earlier, Sun Cheng had an ominous premonition; he was worried whether the true machine Devastator, manufactured single-handedly by the evil Scientist of the Decepticon Legion, Shockwave, had also arrived on Earth.
Looking at it now, his worry had become reality.
Among the other four Decepticons captured by the Base's military satellites, he had once again discovered Mixmaster, Scavenger, and Long Haul.
These three Decepticons were all members of the Constructicons, and were also the components of the giant combined Decepticon, Devastator.
Facing a terrifying war machine like Devastator, which could easily tip the scales of a battle, Sun Cheng was truly in a bit of a bind for the moment.
It was not that he could not deal with Devastator; as the first type of giant combined Decepticon born in the mid-stage of the Cybertronian Civil War, Devastator was not invincible.
Whether it was the Triple Changers that appeared in the mid-to-late stages of the civil war, or the newer generation of giant combined warriors researched by the Decepticons and Autobots specifically to counter Devastator, all could beat Devastator soundly.
The first-generation Devastator had many problems, and even when facing some powerful Leader-class Warriors, it could only gain the upper hand for a short time.
However, Sun Cheng's New Body still had a significant gap compared to a Leader-class Warrior, and it would be very strenuous to go up against Devastator.
On Earth, only nuclear weapons and some high-powered bunker-busting/anti-ship missiles could severely damage Devastator.
And in Sun Cheng's hands, there were only two or three types of super-electromagnetic weapons capable of heavily wounding such a war machine.
This was not what made him feel the most troublesome; although the original developer of Devastator was Shockwave, Shockwave had gone to continue perfecting the Triple Changers after developing the first-generation Devastator, and the one who took over the "Devastator Project" afterward was Starscream.
Even within the Decepticon Legion, where butchers and warmongers were everywhere, Starscream was a rare existence that few Decepticons dared to provoke; his coldness, cunning, and cruelty made the vast majority of Decepticons keep their distance from him.
Starscream had always advocated using human-wave tactics to overwhelm the Autobots, and had even developed mature technology to mass-produce Cannon Fodder warriors in the shortest possible time.
Devastator was initially created only because the technology was not mature, and there was no independent Spark that could support the consumption of such a behemoth, so Shockwave had thought to create six Sparks that maintained connections with each other, ultimately combining six independent Decepticons into one powerful combined warrior.
The price, however, was that once combined, the six originally independent Decepticons would never be able to separate, and the energy consumption was enormous.
And after Starscream took over, he did not perfect these technical flaws at all.
Not only that, he even carried out a comprehensive reduction of Devastator, from its equipped weapons to its power.
Yet, the Devastator modified by his hands caused an even greater threat to the Autobots.
The reason was none other than that Starscream utilized the mature cultivation technology he mastered to mass-produce the six independent Decepticon warriors that made up Devastator, ultimately allowing this war machine to appear on the battlefield in batches.
On this point alone, even Shockwave, the first developer, had to admire him.
Sun Cheng was also worried because of this; if the six Decepticon Cannon Fodder of the Constructicons were scattered, unless a hundred of them came at once, it would not be difficult to deal with them with the power he currently possessed.
But if he were asked to face two or three Devastators, the Base would suffer considerable losses; if four or five charged the Base together, then the hard work he had put in for over a year would truly be wiped out.
Of course, Sun Cheng also felt that he was worrying a bit too much.
Judging from the data obtained from the Base's previous study of Demolishor's Core and Spark, once Devastator combined and transformed, the energy consumed by its body daily was several times more than that of a Leader-class Warrior, and their Sparks were far inferior to those of Leader-class existences, so unless Starscream could obtain a large number of Energy Pillars to replenish energy for Devastator in time, the lifespan of these guys would be very short.
Manufacturing Devastator during non-wartime was undoubtedly a serious waste of resources.
The result of the battle at the Mariana Trench soon came out, despite the fact that the Autobot side only had four warriors, while the Decepticons who invaded and attempted to resurrect Megatron numbered as many as five.
But the Autobots had elite warriors like Ironhide and Sideswipe present, so the invasion undoubtedly ended in failure.
Ironhide and the others seemed to have already been there when the Decepticons arrived at the Mariana Trench.
Although Sun Cheng was not clear why several Autobots who had always cooperated closely with the U. S. military were not on the warships.
However, after receiving the news that the U. S. cruise warships had been attacked, Ironhide and the others seemed to have rushed over to provide support at the first opportunity.
Although they were outnumbered by the Decepticons by one, whether it was Ironhide or Sideswipe, even if Sun Cheng were to encounter them now, he would likely have to spend some time and use some methods to determine the winner; those Cannon Fodder-type Decepticon warriors were naturally no match for them.
Because the battle between the several Autobots and Decepticons seemed to have taken place underwater, the spy satellites could not capture it at all, so Sun Cheng and the others were not clear about the specific combat situation, but they did know the result.
The spy satellite captured the scene of Ravage fleeing, but did not capture the figures of the other invading Decepticons again.
It was very clear that this operation by the Decepticons had failed.
