Chapter 483: Unexpected Intelligence

~7 min read 1,373 words

For the Decepticon Legion, their commander Megatron must certainly be saved.

The area around the Mariana Trench is bound to be lively for a long time.

As for who the final victor will be, Sun Cheng cannot say for sure, only that he has a vague, uneasy feeling.

He knows that Megatron has not truly died, but the Autobots do not know this.

Optimus Prime is undoubtedly a qualified Autobot Leader; although Sun Cheng has not dealt with him much, a simple comparison reveals that the current Optimus Prime is undoubtedly still too naive compared to Megatron.

There is clearly a grand conspiracy hidden behind Megatron's faked death; he spent so much effort laying out this scheme, and Sun Cheng does not want to think about the final outcome right now.

However, there might still be some waves within the Decepticon Legion, and the biggest variable is Starscream.

After successfully repelling the attacking Soundwave last time, the Excavator, who had been wavering between him and Starscream, finally tilted significantly toward his side.

From him, Sun Cheng obtained quite a bit of useful information.

On the Moon, that individual suspected to be one of the Thirteen Primes, The Fallen, for some unknown reason, has also granted Starscream very high status and authority, much like Megatron did.

That guy has been holed up on the Moon doing what he did most during the Cybertronian War: mass-producing Cannon Fodder-type Decepticon Warriors.

Sun Cheng does not yet know where Starscream is getting enough energy to support the mass production of Decepticon soldiers.

But Starscream's attitude is very clear; he has no intention of dispatching Decepticon soldiers on a large scale to save Megatron, doing so at most just for show.

This is the conclusion Sun Cheng reached by combining the brief skirmish between the Autobots and Decepticons at the Mariana Trench earlier.

He guesses that the one currently trying to rescue Megatron should be Soundwave; the appearance of his confidant Ravage among that group of Decepticons is the best evidence.

However, Starscream is clearly just going through the motions; otherwise, if he had truly sent a team of Constructicons to assist and they had suddenly combined into Devastator during the battle, let alone Ironhide and Sideswipe being there, even if Optimus Prime himself arrived, he would have no way to take down such a giant combined Decepticon in a short time.

The satellite awakened by the Base only worked for two days before losing contact, and the ocean meteorological satellite in New Zealand lost contact along with it.

Although it was within expectations, Sun Cheng's good mood came to an end as a result.

However, the second visit from Vasiliyevich Colonel brought him an unexpected surprise.

"Lord Frenzy, Moscow has asked me to convey their gratitude on their behalf. The Prime Minister is also very grateful for the intelligence you shared with us!"

The Colonel's mood seemed quite good; it must be that the photos of the U. S. military ships being attacked that Sun Cheng shared with them recently earned him commendation from Moscow!

Sun Cheng was already annoyed because he had lost two more satellites, so his attitude was rather flat: "Colonel, intelligence sharing is one of the foundations of our cooperation. We have always been cooperating with your country with a friendly attitude, and I believe your country should be the same."

"That is only natural!" The Colonel nodded, then signaled to an aide accompanying him, and the young aide stepped forward, took a locked case from the one he was carrying, and retrieved a storage disk to hand to the Colonel.

After Vasiliyevich Colonel took the storage disk, he held it high and said: "Since your side has shown sincerity, we will also show our cooperative attitude toward you. Please, Lord Frenzy. This disk also contains some satellite photos that our military satellites accidentally captured in Africa not long ago!"

Sun Cheng was taken aback, but he felt some interest nonetheless.

Compared to the few satellites currently controlled by the Base, Russia, as the country with the second-strongest military power on this Earth, can be criticized for its economy being too dependent on energy and arms exports, and one can also mock it for living off its past glory in recent years.

But one thing no one can deny is that the now-defunct super Red Empire—the Soviet Union—left Russia with enough capital to squander for at least another twenty or thirty years.

To date, the total number of Russian satellites currently working in Earth's outer space is second only to the United States, at 132.

Although the vast majority of these satellites operate under the guise of civilian use, anyone who believes that is a fool.

"Oh?"

Sun Cheng bent his knees and waist, placing his palm flat in front of him.

Vasiliyevich Colonel smiled and placed the storage disk into his broad palm, then took a step back. They had dealt with Sun Cheng many times and had long known that these Mechanical Life forms had a natural advantage in using any electronic equipment.

As soon as he looked up, he saw Sun Cheng pinch the storage disk, which was no bigger than a fingernail to him, with two fingers and hold it up in front of himself.

A deep blue light shot out from his eyes, sinking straight into the data interface of the storage disk.

The next second, the light dissipated, and a very vivid expression of excitement appeared on his face.

"... Egypt... giant pyramid... four teams of Decepticons appeared near the pyramid one after another... something is fishy!"

Sun Cheng really did not expect that these Russians would actually bring him such important intelligence this time.

Previously, he had shared satellite photos of several U. S. military ships being attacked by Decepticons with the Russians just to get Moscow to start acting as soon as possible, to get things fighting in the Caucasus so that the two fronts he planned to relieve pressure on himself would work simultaneously.

Unexpectedly, this unintentional act of his actually made these Russians cough up some intelligence he was interested in.

The storage disk brought by Vasiliyevich Colonel contained data for nearly a hundred satellite photos. The shooting location was in Egypt, in the northeastern part of Africa. Around a pyramid, their military satellites had captured the figures of at least twenty Decepticons one after another.

If Sun Cheng was not mistaken, a small Decepticon base should be hidden in the dry river valley near that pyramid.

Moreover, for a single pyramid to have at least four teams of Decepticons appear around it one after another, he suspected that there might be something strange about that pyramid.

After carefully checking the nearly one hundred satellite photos several times and drawing a few possible conclusions, Sun Cheng also gained a bit more understanding of the Russians' black-hearted nature.

"These Russians, they really don't release the hawk until they see the rabbit!"

The nearly one hundred satellite photos showed they were taken more than two months ago, so why were they only brought out today?

It is very clear that although there is cooperation between the two sides, the other party has also been guarding against him all along.

If he hadn't taken the initiative to share the U. S. military attack incident with Russia this time, they probably would have kept hiding it.

PS:

I'm not following the screenwriter; the screenwriters of the Transformers film series are famous for ruining the original work.

In the movie version of Transformers 2, the screenwriter had a brainwave and moved the Giza Pyramids of Egypt into Israel.

I wonder if this is because the two screenwriters' geography teachers died early, or if it has to do with them both having Jewish ancestry? A Jewish-style map-based expansion?

I don't plan to write about the cooperation with China for now. Recently, the internet cleanup has been strict. In another soft sci-fi novel of mine, the chapters with kissing scenes between the male and female leads were banned, and I wrote over seventy chapters about the trade war using "Spring and Autumn" brushwork (subtle, indirect language), yet it was still named and ordered to be completely revised, not allowed to be written. Hehe, harmony.
