Chapter 484: The Only Path of Survival

~8 min read 1,552 words

Colonel Vasiliyevich's visit this time was naturally not just to share the photos captured by these military satellites with Sun Cheng and the others.

That was merely an excuse to show Moscow's attitude toward him; the primary reason for his abrupt visit was that Moscow wanted to know more detailed inside information regarding the U. S. military warships being attacked by Decepticons.

It was clear that the tragic state of the U. S. warships after being attacked had truly frightened Moscow.

They should have already made preparations, eyeing a chance to have a real showdown with NATO, led by the United States, in South Ossetia.

With such a thing happening at this critical juncture, it would be impossible for Moscow not to be panicked.

They were, after all, aware of the alliance between the Americans and the Autobots.

Sun Cheng had mentioned this matter more than once, and he certainly hadn't held back on adding his own embellishments.

Moreover, over the past year or so, NEST had launched multiple strikes globally to hunt down Decepticons, which had been witnessed and filmed by people in quite a few countries.

Although, under the desperate suppression by the U. S. authorities, almost no relevant reports could be seen in the media or on the internet.

Yet, the United States could not cover the sky with one hand on Earth; privately, many national powers were now aware of the existence of Autobots and Decepticons.

Even on the dark web, there were many suspected representatives of major arms companies or national powers who were constantly trying every possible way to obtain the corpses of Autobots and Decepticons; they were happy to offer very generous bounties even for just some body fragments.

Previously, although the Autobots had reached a cooperation agreement with the United States, which led to the birth of the special unit "NEST."

The Americans had proposed more than once that they hoped to cooperate deeply with the Autobots, not only coveting Cybertronian advanced technology but even wanting to use the hands of the Autobots to eliminate all those forces on Earth that were unwilling to obey the United States.

It was only because Optimus Prime had always been unwilling to interfere too much in internal human affairs that NEST had not become a tool for the Americans to interfere in other countries.

However, Moscow did not know this; the Russians would not forget that not long ago, the Autobots had invaded Severodvinsk, and although they had barely managed to repel the opponent at the time, that was only with the help of Sun Cheng and his group.

If Sun Cheng and his group had not discovered the Autobots in advance, it would inevitably have been a different outcome.

A fleet of Americans being attacked and almost completely wiped out inevitably made Moscow, which was preparing for a war, think too much.

What if they were suddenly attacked by Autobots while they were in conflict with Georgia? What would their own fate be?

To put it bluntly, Moscow wanted a guarantee from Sun Cheng to ensure that if they encountered attacks from extraterrestrial life—whether Autobots or other Decepticons—during the conflict, Sun Cheng and his group would extend a helping hand at the first opportunity.

Sun Cheng gave this guarantee.

Because he could see that Moscow was indeed terrified.

If not for his guarantee, it was very likely that in the upcoming conflict with Georgia in South Ossetia, Moscow would have chosen a quick battle to force a quick decision.

This was definitely not what Sun Cheng wanted; he was still pinning his hopes on the Polar Bear being able to attract some of the United States' attention to the Caucasus region, which was why he readily gave the guarantee so that Moscow could feel at ease to go all out over in the Caucasus.

After seeing off Colonel Vasiliyevich, Pioneer came over.

Thunder is a pure warrior; in his daily life, he does nothing but train.

During the last intrusion by Soundwave, having just changed into a new body, he could not fully exert the entire strength of the body, and he had faced life-threatening situations during the battle, exposing too many problems.

For this reason, in the days that followed, Thunder had almost locked himself in the training ground that Sun Cheng had originally built for himself, dragging either Sun Cheng or Excavator along to accelerate the efficiency of his integration with his new body through non-stop combat.

Pioneer, on the other hand, could not actually be considered a pure warrior compared to Thunder, possessing a level of rationality that surpassed that of the average Decepticon.

Because of this, Sun Cheng did not treat him like an ordinary warrior but instead attempted to cultivate him into a qualified Commander.

As the development of the base continued to accelerate, he often felt that he could not be in two places at once; without a subordinate capable of handling things independently, he had to take the field himself whenever something happened, which not only greatly increased the danger Sun Cheng might face but also took up a large portion of his energy.

This was also one of the reasons why he was now focusing on cultivating Pioneer!

"Master, the things you wanted have all been delivered by the base in four shipments!"

Pioneer had come over this time precisely to report a matter to Sun Cheng.

The items he had requested Base No. 2 in South America to rush-produce had been manufactured and delivered.

Upon learning this news, Sun Cheng's expression stirred.

"Take me to see them..."

"Yes!"

Pioneer led the way, and the two of them did not disturb Thunder and Excavator, who were in the midst of a fierce battle in the training ground; after exiting the training ground, they hurried toward the naval port at the northernmost side of Severodvinsk.

The training ground was to the southeast of Severodvinsk, about forty kilometers away from the naval port located in the northern section of the city.

This place was originally a military camp for the Russian Army; later, after the Russians temporarily handed Severodvinsk over to Sun Cheng and the others, the garrison had been transferred to another Russian military base seventy kilometers away, and this place was then transformed into a training ground by the Engineer sent by Sun Cheng.

In the current Severodvinsk, after the forced relocation by Moscow, there were fewer than three thousand people left, concentrated in a relatively prosperous area of the city with complete facilities.

Sun Cheng and the others had taken over Severodvinsk, so the security along the way was tight; besides various fixed sentry posts, one could see squads of Combat Robots patrolling from time to time.

The forty-kilometer distance was as close as a human going out for a stroll for the two Decepticons, Sun Cheng and Pioneer.

Not long after, the two Decepticons arrived at the even more heavily guarded naval port and headed straight for the shipyard in the northwest of the port area.

Sun Cheng soon saw the things he wanted: tall and large, a total of sixteen huge shipping containers.

When he arrived at a warehouse in the shipyard area that had been converted from a dry dock, the shipping containers had already been moved into the dock by Heavy Transport Robots.

They were neatly arranged together, actually taking up a portion of the vast warehouse.

His gaze swept across the bodies of the sixteen huge shipping containers one by one, each bearing a pattern that looked like a design, or perhaps some unknown ancient totem; Sun Cheng only withdrew his gaze after a long while.

The sixteen ancient totems resembling patterns on the container bodies were Cybertronian Script.

Unlike the characters used by humans, every character of Cybertron is extremely complex; it is more like an aggregation of micro-images, and a single character that looks simple, as if it were an ancient totem created by the ancestors of humans in the prehistoric era, contains a considerable amount of information.

For example, the sixteen Cybertronian characters engraved on this batch of shipping containers each detailed the type and quantity of the cargo stored inside.

Looking at them, the blue light in Sun Cheng's eyes was calm.

The situation on Earth in the Transformers World was changing too fast these days.

Under his careful planning, the development of his own forces was fast enough.

But he couldn't help that Sun Cheng was offending giants; Autobots were still continuously gathering on Earth from the universe, and Starscream was also suspected of continuously cultivating more Decepticon soldiers on the Moon.

Even taking the United States of this world into account, if you really calculated it, it would only take one megaton-class Nuclear Warhead to destroy all the hard work he had put in over the past year or so in this world.

What Sun Cheng lacked most now was time to develop, but when the base's first satellite was destroyed by Soundwave, he realized that the crisis had already arrived, and it was even more dangerous than he had previously anticipated.

Now, no one could save him; he could only rely on himself.

And the only way to turn this unfavorable situation around, after much deep thought, was the single path of survival: returning to the real world.
