Chapter 575: Autobot Base (Part 1)

~8 min read 1,430 words

Even if it was just what they considered a temporary base, the speed at which the Autobots were constructing the base was still much faster than Sun Cheng had anticipated.

When the drone he dispatched had just crossed Kenya and entered Sori territory, it was locked onto by the Autobots shortly thereafter.

"Officer, a human aircraft has been detected!"

"Don't shoot it down yet; send someone to notify the Commander!"

"Yes!"

Ironhide, who was undergoing treatment by Ratchet inside the underground structure, had been entrusted by Optimus Prime to serve as Commander before he left.

And he did not disappoint Optimus Prime; although Ironhide's temper was a bit fiery and he was occasionally a bit of an old stubborn mule.

But having experienced two Cybertronian Civil Wars, his experience in both combat and command made him one of the best among the Autobots.

After accepting Optimus Prime's appointment, all the Autobots in the underground base were assigned tasks by him.

The Autobots who had been injured during the Mariana Trench Battle stayed in the 'Warehouse' for the time being to receive treatment from Ratchet and rest for a while.

The remaining Autobots were also organized by him into three parts.

One part was appointed by Ironhide as a guard team to patrol the vicinity at regular intervals, build some sporadic Darkmounts around the 'Warehouse', and raise the sand layer above the 'Warehouse' to increase its anti-air raid capability.

One part of the Autobots was arranged by Ironhide to reinforce and renovate the 'Warehouse'; after all, the warehouse Sun Cheng had built previously, while large, did not entirely suit the Autobots' aesthetic.

Furthermore, the interior of the 'Warehouse' was too monotonous; they needed to redesign the command room and living areas. Ironhide even specifically selected a few Autobots skilled in design and manufacturing, letting them use the special abilities of Cybertronians to be responsible for building power generation equipment and other tools for the 'Warehouse'.

One part of the Autobots was sent by Ironhide to scout the surrounding area for mineral reserves, although Optimus Prime had not yet made up his mind to build a new home for the Autobots on Earth around this warehouse.

But there were already over a hundred Autobots who had arrived on Earth, and just the daily consumption of Energy Liquid was quite significant; if they were to fight the Decepticon Legion again, the consumption would be even greater.

As the Commander of the temporary base, Ironhide naturally had to make preparations in advance.

In just a few short days, although the area of the 'Warehouse' had only increased by a few thousand square meters, the top of the 'Warehouse' had been covered with tens of thousands of tons of sand and soil, hauled from a Gobi region dozens of kilometers away by the Autobot—Dump Truck, raising it by more than ten meters.

The internal command room, medical room, living areas, and so on, had all been planned and taken shape.

The newly manufactured power generation equipment, built from scratch, also began to supply power; it burned kerosene, which was bought from the Sori people by Sam, who had disguised himself and used gold refined by the Autobots from a small gold mine they had found.

When the news of the drone being discovered was sent to Ironhide, his first reaction was to shoot the drone down.

But he held back, calmly issuing an order: "Stay hidden, don't worry about it for now, and see what exactly it wants to do."

Chromia was also a participant in the Mariana Trench Battle and had sustained not-insignificant injuries during the war, so when Optimus Prime led a team out to search for the Matrix of Leadership, she was also left behind.

"What do you think?" Ironhide asked her.

Chromia frowned, "Could it be the Americans?"

The Autobots had once cooperated with the United States government for over a year, and during this time, the United States government had collected intelligence on the Autobots through various methods and means.

Likewise, the Autobots had also relied on the unique nature of Cybertronians to master a large amount of classified intelligence on the U. S. military.

There were indeed many human countries on Earth with militaries equipped with drones, but as for those that had truly formed combat effectiveness, currently, only the U. S. military was one.

The Autobots had just fallen out with the United States government not long ago, and a large number of Autobots had suddenly withdrawn from the Americans' military bases, also refusing to hand over the American boy—Sam—whom they intended to trade with the Decepticon Legion.

To say the United States government wasn't angry would be impossible; when they were partially within the United States and partially in U. S. military bases, the Americans might have been wary of the losses caused by provoking them and dared not act recklessly.

But that didn't mean that now, the Americans, who had long been accustomed to being overbearing, wouldn't settle scores later.

Ironhide snorted softly; he was one of the Autobots who had most opposed cooperating with the United States government.

The Americans often used derogatory terms like 'them', 'machines', and 'cars' to describe the Autobots. Barricade and Bumblebee had broken into the Pentagon and the Ministry of National Defense several times and had seen many meeting memos from the U. S. military discussing how to deal with them, these aliens.

After Ironhide's order was issued, the Autobots who had locked onto that drone ultimately did not take action to shoot it down.

And so, under their watchful eyes, the drone hovered above the warehouse for a while, then dropped a metal block attached to a parachute, and flew straight away.

It had barely flown far when the somewhat flighty Brake-Light ran out and picked up the metal block that had just landed on the ground.

"Decepticon..."

Upon seeing the pattern on it, he subconsciously wanted to destroy it.

But after suddenly thinking of a certain possibility, he ultimately gritted his teeth until they clicked, and held back.

"What is it?"

Chromia asked.

Brake-Light snorted coldly and threw it to her, "It should have been sent by Frenzy!"

Knowing about this temporary base of the Autobots and still sending things to them, it was likely only Frenzy who would do so.

Although he was very unhappy, and his brother—Mudflap—had also been lost at his hands.

But Brake-Light was not completely without a brain; after the complete fallout with the United States government, didn't even the Leader, Optimus Prime, accept the other party's goodwill?

If he wanted to avenge his brother, he could only wait for an opportunity in the future.

After Chromia took the metal block, she discovered it was a specially made storage disk, and understood why Brake-Light said it was sent by Frenzy.

They had already received such things several times.

Although Chromia was not the Commander of the temporary base, she was Ironhide's girlfriend, and had always been known for her wisdom throughout the Autobot faction.

Therefore, picking up the metal storage disk, two beams of light shot from her eyes to scan the internal information.

The content inside the metal storage disk was not much, but after reading it, Chromia frowned, then immediately handed it to Ironhide, remaining silent as if she hadn't seen his questioning gaze.

Ironhide was even more curious; he took the metal storage disk and also scanned the internal information. After finishing it, he immediately fell silent as well.

"What does it say inside?"

Brake-Light, who was sulking on the side, saw the two's expressions and felt curiosity arise in his heart, taking the initiative to ask.

Ironhide: "Frenzy and the others were attacked by the Decepticon Legion not long ago; Thrust and Surfboard were killed..."

Hesitating for a moment, he continued: "He suspects that he is not the only one being targeted by the Decepticon Legion, so he intends to hide for a period of time..."

"There is also a coordinate inside!"

Chromia took over the words he hadn't finished and continued downward.

"The location of the coordinate is an underground base larger than this one, only four hundred kilometers away from here... inside there are also some supplies and Energy Liquid, which is the final aid Frenzy is providing for us; he wants us to send someone over to receive it!"

ps:

My apologies, a close relative passed away a while ago, and I spent the entire day yesterday at the Labor Bureau handling social security, running back and forth to process paperwork, and then went home to wait for further developments.
