Chapter 576: Autobot Base (Part 2)
Upon hearing this, Skids immediately shut his mouth and said nothing more.
The greatest difference between the Autobots and the Decepticons is that they fundamentally yearn for peace.
This is also the reason why Optimus Prime had agreed to meet with Frenzy, who he had always been at odds with.
Watching Chromia reach out and offer the metal storage disk again, Skids hesitated for a moment but ultimately did not take it.
He knew what the other party meant; it was nothing more than wanting to persuade him to let go of the grudge between him and Frenzy.
Skids would obey the interests of Optimus Prime and the Autobot faction, but hatred is not so easily set aside.
He is different from Ironhide, Sideswipe, and Chromia; he didn't just suffer a minor injury or lose a weapon.
What Skids lost was his brother; even if he and Mudflap usually bickered and didn't get along, he was still his brother.
Seeing that he was unwilling to abandon his hatred, Chromia did not try to persuade him further.
Female Autobots are more sensitive than males; she quickly changed the subject and asked Ironhide: "What do you intend to do?"
Ironhide did not know when he had pulled out a strange cigar, clamped it in his mouth, and took a puff before answering her.
"I intend to let the Wreckers take Shake to check out the base mentioned in the coordinates..."
The Wreckers are a combat squad composed of militant Autobots.
Unlike the vast majority of Autobots who are not skilled in combat, every member of the Wreckers possesses combat power stronger than an Advanced Decepticon Warrior.
Their style is fierce, their methods are tough, and during the civil war, they were often sent to execute the most difficult tasks.
There are currently three members of the Wreckers who have arrived on Earth: Roadbuster, Topspin, and Leadfoot.
Optimus Prime had wanted to take the three of them with him when he went out to search for the Matrix of Leadership, but considering that there were still many wounded at the temporary base, and some of those Autobots did not have much combat power, he ultimately left the Wreckers trio behind.
Ironhide plans to send the three Wreckers to investigate the new base shown on the coordinates; this arrangement is quite reasonable.
Because if there really is a Decepticon ambush there, relying on their strength, they would not be at too much of a disadvantage.
However, Chromia shook her head, "Are you sure that letting the four of them go won't turn a good thing into a bad thing?"
The members of the Wreckers are all qualified Warriors, but their personalities are hard to say.
Roadbuster is a bit better; he can be considered a relatively excellent Commander.
It is just that in past tasks, it was not as if Roadbuster had never been egged on by his team members to lose his cool, nearly causing additional sacrifices.
As for Shake, he is even less to be counted on.
He is Ironhide's apprentice, an Autobot with a similarly fiery and unreliable personality; Ironhide has trained his combat ability very well, but other aspects are hard to say.
Perhaps a term from Earth can describe him well: a big boy who hasn't grown up.
It is evident that letting these four Autobots go to receive the new base—if they happen to run into Frenzy and the others, who knows what might happen!
Ironhide was unhurried; Chromia's opposition was within his expectations.
He flicked the cigar in his hand, and a few floating sparks made the cigar look exceptionally strange.
"I know!" he said, looking down at Chromia, who was much shorter than him: "That is why I intend for you to go along as well!"
"Me?"
Chromia was somewhat hesitant; she knew that Optimus Prime's intention in leaving her behind was because he was worried that Ironhide, while in charge of the temporary base, might cause trouble due to his fiery temper.
However, she clearly underestimated Ironhide, and also underestimated the growth he had experienced after the Mariana Trench Battle.
Ironhide nodded and took another puff of the strange cigar, the length of which had not changed at all, "You have worked with Roadbuster and the others before; if you propose different opinions, they will be able to listen!"
"As for me, I also have some things to do..."
In the Mariana Trench Battle, an Autobot he was familiar with died in battle there.
He was by no means Ironhide's first friend to die in battle; during the civil war, the number of his friends who died at the hands of the Decepticons was so high that even Ironhide himself could barely remember them all.
But the civil war has been over for over a hundred years; for the past hundred-plus years, although he followed Optimus Prime wandering everywhere in the galaxy, living a life without a fixed home.
Yet these hundred-plus years were also truly peaceful times.
No war, no Decepticons, until they arrived on Earth.
Chromia knew him too well; seeing Ironhide's change, she immediately guessed his thoughts.
"Bottle Opener's death has nothing to do with you..."
The Bottle Opener she spoke of was precisely the friend of Ironhide who had died in battle not long ago in the Mariana Trench Battle.
Ironhide shook his head, suddenly looked at Skids, and asked: "You tell me, why is it that after those Decepticons arrived on Earth, they were able to develop and grow rapidly?"
"Starscream and the others arrived on Earth earlier than us; in the past, hadn't we already discovered multiple bases of theirs..."
Skids replied.
Chromia also chimed in: "Frenzy's side also established a private territory on Earth, and then mined minerals and refined Energy Liquid from Earth!"
Smart as she was, she understood Ironhide's idea by this point.
She looked at Ironhide with some surprise and advised him seriously: "The Leader will not allow you to do this, Ironhide!"
Skids had not yet reacted; seeing Chromia and Ironhide both fall silent, the atmosphere suddenly became awkward.
He curled his lip and turned to walk into the Warehouse.
Not until Skids' back disappeared around the corner did Ironhide speak again: "I know, but such things always need someone to do them!"
He waved his hand, interrupting Chromia, who was preparing to continue persuading him.
"The pressure on the Leader's side is very great now; two days ago, when he was in remote communication with the Yihui, he had an argument with some of the old guys who stayed behind!"
"The Yihui is already very impatient with the Leader's constant transport of supplies to Earth. The Aerialbots will send the last batch of supplies in over a month. After that, it will be very difficult for us to obtain support from there again!"
Ironhide was somewhat sorrowful, "The Leader is in a very difficult position now; I think he certainly would not want to see the Decepticon Legion occupy this place and turn Earth into a second Cybertron."
"Humans cannot stop the Decepticons; they even want to hand Sam over to the Decepticons and are more willing to do business with Decepticons like Frenzy..."
"To stop the Decepticon Legion from destroying Earth, only we Autobots can do it!"
"Therefore, we need to establish a new base on Earth, mine, establish energy centers, and call for more Autobots to come to Earth to defend this place!"
Speaking to this point, he fiercely extinguished the cigar, "The Yihui will not allow the Leader to do this, but someone must do it; I am willing to bear this infamy. Even if I am sent to a Military Tribunal later, I will have no regrets!"
After saying this, Ironhide walked into the temporary Base without looking back.
