Chapter 584: Returning Empty-Handed (Seeking Subscriptions)

~8 min read 1,435 words

The ancient Egyptian-style temple that the Pioneer found was built against a mountain.

The temple was grand and massive; even after transforming into combat mode, Sun Cheng, whose body stood over seven meters tall, appeared exceptionally small standing before the temple entrance.

Shooting two beams of blue light from his eyes, Sun Cheng began to scan the temple before him.

Finding no energy or electromagnetic fluctuations was within his expectations.

The six Primes must have left behind certain measures to prevent the Matrix of Leadership from being found by their fallen brother—Megatronus, who is now The Fallen.

The data on the temple soon appeared completely in his mind.

"Height 41.343 meters, the distance from Earth to the planet Cybertron is approximately 4.37 light-years, about 4,134,300,000,000 kilometers... length 36 meters, the rotation period of the planet Cybertron is about 36 days..."

If one were to say this temple had nothing to do with the Cybertronians, it would be too much of a coincidence.

The Pioneer circled the vicinity and soon walked back.

"Only this entrance, Master!"

Clearly, he did not find any other hidden entrances to the temple.

Sun Cheng nodded, but his brow furrowed.

He had just scanned the temple once and similarly found no signs of any hidden entrances or underground structures.

"Let's go in and take a look!"

Sun Cheng walked toward the temple entrance; before entering, he looked up at the top of the entrance, where there was a crater caused by an impact.

Due to the erosion of wind and sun, it was impossible to distinguish whether the crater was caused by human artillery shells or the destruction caused by the Decepticons when they discovered this place.

Completely different from the grand and massive appearance outside, the space inside the temple was not large, with both length and width being only about seven or eight meters.

The inside of the temple was very "clean"; apart from the dust accumulated over the years, nothing could be seen.

There were no worshiped statues, no remnants of any cultural relics, not even a single shard of pottery.

"Humans have been here before..."

0s and 1s constantly jumped in the Pioneer's eyes; he quietly connected to the internet and found records about this temple, "They call this the Lost Temple, first discovered in 1816 by the British explorer William Peifute..."

"The Lost Temple is the name that British explorer gave it. More than 190 years ago, when he and his expedition team found this temple in the desolate mountains, everyone thought it would be a discovery that would shock the world... but as soon as they walked into the temple, they found there was nothing inside..."

"That explorer and his expedition team turned the entire temple over; they even climbed to the top of the temple structure, but they didn't find any statues or artifacts... In the end, they left in disappointment, and because of this, the temple didn't have much popularity even after it was exposed."

"Even within Jordan, the official rating for it is only 'a nameless monument with certain historical value; periodic inspection and maintenance will suffice'!"

The Pioneer was now capable of serving as Sun Cheng's deputy, which was also the reason why he increasingly liked to bring the Pioneer along on operations.

Many times, he didn't even need to give explicit instructions; the Pioneer would take the initiative to get things done.

Although they found some information about this temple on the internet, Sun Cheng and the others still carefully inspected the interior of the temple once more.

And indeed, there were no discoveries.

The only thing of value in the temple, if one had to say, was a mural engraved on the wall directly facing the entrance that was completely inconsistent with the ancient Egyptian style.

The mural looked like typical European style from the Renaissance period, appearing completely out of place with the entire temple.

Sun Cheng had already discovered this mural when he scanned the temple from the outside just now, but he had not found any abnormalities.

Perhaps due to time, the mural on the temple wall had become somewhat blurred, and several large missing sections had appeared on it.

Perhaps it was precisely because of this that it was not cut down and stolen by those British robbers who discovered this place more than 190 years ago.

Although the previous scan did not find any problems with the mural.

However, in such a "clean" temple, the existence of such a mural was far too abrupt.

So Sun Cheng still intended to experiment again; even though he hadn't found any abnormalities during his previous scan, he was still prepared to check it carefully again.

"You go and carefully check the walls on both sides of the temple to see if there is anything strange inside! I will be responsible for this wall and the ground."

After gently instructing the Pioneer, Sun Cheng walked straight to the mural.

Two blue beams of light shot out from his eyes, attempting to penetrate the wall.

When he first entered the temple, he had sensed that the space here was not right.

The temple was about 36 meters long, and because it was built against the mountain, it was only about twenty meters wide.

Yet the internal space of the temple was only sixty-some meters; what was the remaining thickness used for?

The Pioneer received the order and, imitating him, walked to a wall and began to check it carefully.

The probing electromagnetic waves easily penetrated the wall, but unfortunately, nothing was found.

Sun Cheng was not yet willing to give up; he continued to increase the scan, repeatedly scanning behind the mural and even the underground rock layers with higher frequency electromagnetic waves.

Soon, his detection range had shockingly penetrated the mountain the temple was built against, and he had even probed up to a hundred meters deep into the ground nearby.

The result, however, was that no abnormalities were found.

"Master, no abnormalities found!"

The Pioneer finished his inspection before him; like Sun Cheng, neither of them had found even a hint of an abnormality.

"Hmm!"

Sun Cheng responded somewhat unwillingly; the clues he obtained from the AllSpark Fragment and Jetfire's memories had led him here.

Although it was only a hunch, that feeling also vaguely told him that the thing he was looking for was right here.

But some kind of protection mechanism for the Matrix of Leadership, likely the measures left behind by those six Primes, made him return empty-handed from a mountain of treasure, unable to find where the Matrix of Leadership was at all.

"Master, why don't we transport a batch of Engineering Robots and dig up the entire temple and this mountain?"

Seeing that he was in a bad mood, the Pioneer hesitated for a moment before speaking slowly.

Sun Cheng's heart stirred; he was just about to take out a batch of Engineering Robots from the Spherical Space and really dig up this temple and mountain that might hide the Matrix of Leadership and the remains of the Primes.

Just at this moment, an extremely dangerous feeling suddenly struck his heart, making him feel that in an instant, even the Spark in his chest slowed its beating speed.

"Who?"

He shouted fiercely, drew his weapon, and stood guard carefully!

The Pioneer was startled by Sun Cheng's sudden reaction and also entered a state of alert; after scanning the vicinity and confirming that no suspicious targets were captured, he looked at Sun Cheng in confusion.

"Master, are there enemies?"

"Go!"

Sun Cheng cast a cold glance at the wall; the Spark within his chest felt as if it had suffered some kind of blow, a sense of crisis that it could be snuffed out by someone at any moment.

He could be certain that he had definitely been targeted by something, and of a kind he could not provoke.

Seeing that the situation was untenable, Sun Cheng quickly made a decision between the treasure and his own life.

After rushing out of the temple in quick strides, he ignored the Decepticons behind him entirely, suddenly leaping up to transform into his jet mode and flying away toward the distant west.

PS:

In the original story, the temple where the Six Primes were buried is part of Jordan's Peitelagucheng, once called one of the Seven Wonders of the World, listed alongside the Great Wall.

This is for the sake of the plot, and some modifications have been made to it.

Let's set a small goal first, for example, remember it in 1 second: Shukerju
