Chapter 633: Tombstone (Please Subscribe)

~7 min read 1,280 words

Jordan Petra Mountains.

When Major William stepped down from the helicopter, the soldiers of Tombstone who had arrived before him had already finished clearing the battlefield.

"Sir, the battlefield has been cleared. We found over a dozen Decepticon corpses in the temple ruins six kilometers away, and several Autobot corpses within the bombing zone..."

Returning a military salute to the soldier reporting to him, Major William looked grave.

"Notify the Special Operations Command and have them inform the Jordanian authorities to arrange for heavy trucks and cranes to come over so we can pack up all the Decepticon corpses and ship them back to the country first!"

The predecessor of Tombstone was NEST; over the past year or so, the NEST unit had cooperated with the Autobots to strike and hunt down dozens of Decepticons globally.

Initially, under the mandatory requirements of the Autobots, their corpses were dumped into deep-sea regions that human nations on Earth could not yet access.

Later, as the conflict between the Autobots and the United States government deepened, Optimus Prime eventually made concessions under the aggressive pressure of American politicians, tacitly allowing research institutions under the U. S. government and the military to retain a portion of the Decepticon corpses for their own research and disposal.

Now, even without the Autobots' help with transport, as the only remaining superpower on Earth, the habitually overbearing United States still uses the world hegemony it has built over the past half-century to coerce and lure many small nations into serving them.

The soldier gave a military salute: "Yes, sir."

The soldier immediately went to notify Qatar. Seeing him walk away, Captain Robert waved the others away with a tacit understanding and walked over; at this moment, a clear sense of sorrow could be seen on his dark face.

"Who were they?"

Major William was silent for a moment before asking.

As the acting Commander of Tombstone, Major William had been commanding from the Tabuk Air Base in Saudi Arabia when the Decepticons and Autobots were first discovered here in the Jordan Petra Mountains.

The order to notify the Air Force to conduct the bombing here was also issued by him personally.

Major William was somewhat mentally prepared for the fact that he might have single-handedly buried his Autobot friends.

Captain Robert swallowed several times before sighing and answering: "Ratchet, Bumblebee, Sideswipe, Mirage, Drift, Chromia..."

He listed several Autobot names in one breath, "The bombing area was too vast. They had clearly just experienced a fierce battle before the strike arrived. Except for Ratchet, who almost escaped, all the Autobots perished here!"

Pausing again, Captain Robert took a deep breath, "We also found Sam and his girlfriend Mikaela; they... suffered greatly before they died!"

Unable to stop the images of Sam and his girlfriend Mikaela from appearing in his mind, the annoyance and self-reproach in Major William's eyes grew heavier.

Having been bombarded repeatedly by over twenty of the most powerful Fuel-Air Explosives known as the 'Mother of All Bombs', he could fully imagine the pain Sam and Mikaela felt before they died.

The silence lasted for quite a while before Major William looked at his old comrade.

"Before coming here, I had already submitted my retirement application to the General... I plan to retire and go back home to properly spend time with my wife and daughter..."

The guilt of betraying friends, coupled with the filth of politics, left Major William, who was not yet forty this year, without the drive of his prime.

Since serving as the commander of NEST, he had experienced too much and had long felt physically and mentally exhausted.

Captain Robert patted him on the shoulder, "That's for the best!"

Major William's family background was not bad to begin with. In the dozen or more years since he enlisted, the military rewards he received just from participating in various special operations were enough for him to live a very comfortable life, not to mention that his parents still operated a medium-sized farm in Texas, which he would inherit in the future.

"Do you want to go see them?"

Captain Robert asked.

Major William hesitated for a moment before shaking his head: "I am half the culprit who caused those old friends to die; how could I have the face to see them... Forget it..."

"Then how should the Autobot corpses be handled? Should we refer to the disposal plan for Decepticon corpses?" Captain Robert asked again.

Major William frowned. The so-called Decepticon corpse disposal plan, as the name suggests, is to first collect all the hunted Decepticon corpses.

After a professional team evaluates their injuries, integrity, and strength, the military steps in to transfer the most intact Decepticon corpses—those who were stronger in life—to the military's own research institutions and laboratories belonging to U. S. military-industrial giants, while the secondary ones are sent to government-affiliated research institutions and some well-connected high-tech enterprises.

As for the lowest grade, they are gifted to some well-known university research institutions or private laboratories in the United States, or directly dismantled and broken down into parts for backup.

Regardless of which of these three disposal plans is used, the final fate of the Autobot corpses will be to be dismantled into parts.

Major William would have liked to bury his old friends directly, but he was only an acting Commander of Tombstone who was no longer trusted and was about to leave his post.

"Follow the Decepticon corpse disposal plan!"

In the end, he did not intend to defy the will from above, "Notify everyone in a moment: after processing the Decepticon corpses, send people to pack up the Autobot corpses and take them away as well!"

"I understand!"

Major William did not know that everything the Tombstone unit was doing within the Petra Mountains was being captured in its entirety by a drone in a state of optical stealth, ten thousand meters above.

After the drone circled over the battlefield for a long time, it began its return journey only when its energy was nearly exhausted, flying all the way north until it finally stopped at an airport in the Severodvinsk naval base.

"I didn't expect us to actually capture some good things!"

On the vast Atlantic Ocean, after the Decepticon Workers stationed in North Port transmitted what the drone had captured, Sun Cheng spent some time finishing it, his face already filled with smiles.

Having lost the main forces of the Second and Fifth Fleets, the Americans were clearly severely wounded by the previous Decepticon attacks.

However, since they ultimately possessed one of the two largest nuclear arsenals on Earth, the 'Mother of All Bombs' they had just brought out was already enough to injure Sun Cheng according to damage assessments; naturally, he still held awe for even more powerful nuclear weapons.

"This is fine too... Aliens should act like aliens. The Autobots should just honestly stay in Africa and develop... Let the Americans play by themselves, so they stop jumping around!"

He did not yet know the situation of The Fallen and the Autobots, but he had just reached an agreement with Swindle, and that guy had agreed to help him contact the legendary Bounty Hunter who could kill a Leader—Lockdown.

This good mood lasted all the way to Trindade Island.

PS:

The plot of the second major film ends here. The plot of the third film is simple enough, and after I've magically modified it and deleted the plot involving Sam and the others, I estimate it can be finished in twenty or thirty chapters. I need to add some things and, while I'm at it, fill in some of the plot holes I dug earlier.
