Chapter 634: Trindade (Seeking Subscriptions)
Trindade Island, a volcanic island located in the South Atlantic Ocean.
It belongs to Brazil, but it is over 1,100 kilometers away from the Brazilian mainland, and its area is only about ten square kilometers.
There are no permanent residents on the island, only a squad of Brazilian Navy soldiers who rotate guard duty periodically.
Until this year, including an already dilapidated ocean station built by the Brazilian Navy on the island, the total year-round population on Trindade Island was maintained at around thirty people; it is a very desolate island.
Trindade Island has countless lava domes and steep mountains, with the highest peak at an elevation of 620 meters.
For humans, this is an island with no resources, a scarcity of fresh water, and supplies that rely entirely on periodic replenishment by Brazilian Navy transport ships; it has no use whatsoever other than for expanding territory and economic maritime zones.
But for the Decepticons, this island is simply wonderful.
The special composition of the volcanic island makes the offshore areas of the island full of reefs; except for a safe waterway for entry and exit blasted and excavated by the Brazilian Navy to periodically replenish supplies for the soldiers stationed on the island, more than 80% of the area around the island is a restricted zone that ships cannot approach.
The mountains on the island are steep and caves are everywhere, making it perfect for hiding.
Sun Cheng did not fully trust Swindle, so he did not have the idea of bringing him directly back to Base No. 2.
A long time ago, from Lop Nur, Sun Cheng obtained a metal plate containing stored information left behind by a Pathfinder elder who called himself "General of the Beasts."
The descriptions of The Fallen by that subordinate of "Prima"—who claimed to be one of the Thirteen Primes—did not match at all with the one Sun Cheng knew.
However, just from the fact that the General of the Beasts still referred to the other party as Megatronus, one knew that Megatronus at that time must have just fallen.
It is not incomprehensible that a normal Cybertronian would appear pious and humble when facing a Prime.
And Sun Cheng's initial understanding of The Fallen came from the records on the metal plate left by the "General of the Beasts."
According to the General of the Beasts, in ancient times, after the Thirteen Primes repelled a certain "invader from the universe" about whom he did not leave detailed explanations, Maxim, one of the Thirteen Primes, was likely the first to fall.
He constantly stirred up the relationships among the thirteen Primes and eventually succeeded in making the then-unfallen Megatronus and Solus Prime turn against each other, even going so far as to engage in a life-and-death duel.
Megatronus accidentally killed Solus Prime during the duel; killing his lover with his own hands clearly stimulated Megatronus.
He voluntarily gave up his weapon—the Requiem Blaster—and went into self-exile, embarking on a journey to hunt down Maxim under the surveillance of the other six Primes.
And during this process, the guilt of killing his lover with his own hands, along with his longing for Solus Prime, eventually tortured him to the edge of a breakdown.
They were lured by Maxim all the way to Earth in ancient times, where Megatronus attempted to use the special ability of the Requiem Blaster to create a 【Stellar Extraction Tower】, destroy the Sun, and create a more powerful 【AllSpark】 to resurrect his lover—Solus Prime.
This proposal and request were met with a flat refusal from the other six Primes.
In anger, self-reproach, and resentment, Megatronus finally fell.
He named himself The Fallen, and it is unknown what means he used to take back the Requiem Blaster he had once abandoned, and he even snatched the 【Matrix of Leadership】 from the hands of the other Primes.
A fierce battle between the Primes broke out on Earth in ancient times.
The six Primes paid a painful price and finally managed to snatch the 【Matrix of Leadership】 back from the hands of The Fallen.
The General of the Beasts was one of the Pathfinders who followed Prima, one of the Thirteen Primes, and was among the first to arrive on Earth.
He suffered heavy injuries during the great battle of the seven Primes and remained in a deep sleep until he woke up at an unknown time.
Later, in order to find his kin who might still be on Earth, the General of the Beasts searched many places on Earth.
Unfortunately, apart from some traces left behind by Pathfinders who had once come to Earth, he only encountered some evil and bellicose Decepticons.
In the final stage of his life, the General of the Beasts found something he called something that even "the Primes dreamed of."
Sun Cheng was very curious about what that thing was.
For this reason, he had been investigating.
Fortunately, although the General of the Beasts did not leave the detailed latitude and longitude coordinates of the location of the item in the metal plate, he did have a relatively detailed description of the hiding place.
A long time ago, Sun Cheng knew that the item was hidden on an island, and it was a volcanic island at that.
However, submarine volcanic eruptions are one of the main ways islands on Earth are formed, so there are at least several thousand, if not ten thousand, volcanic islands on Earth.
With no other choice, Sun Cheng could only try every possible way to obtain some detailed satellite maps of Earth.
Aside from two satellites launched by the Base for the convenience of intelligence personnel's emergency communications, the vast majority of the satellites the Base initially launched were high-definition Earth exploration satellites.
Because Sun Cheng had too many things to keep busy with, he did not put his main energy into treasure hunting, but instead handed the task of screening the massive amount of high-definition maps captured by satellites for islands that met the conditions described by the General of the Beasts to the intelligent computer of Base No. 2—Huan.
And Huan indeed did not let him down; after several months, through repeated full-data comparisons of tens of millions of high-definition island maps, one similar possibility after another was successively excluded.
Trindade Island was the volcanic island that Huan finally screened out as the one that best matched the description of the General of the Beasts.
Sun Cheng learned of this news more than two months ago.
Subsequently, he dispatched a Decepticon Engineer, who took a squad of Workers and a large number of robots to land on Trindade to conduct detailed survey and search work.
As for those Brazilian Navy soldiers stationed on the island, no one cared about them.
The establishment of a platoon of the Brazilian Navy is 21 people, and it was a platoon of soldiers stationed on Trindade Island.
Most of the time, they stayed in a small barracks near the southeast coast.
There were very few living facilities on the island, and road traffic was almost zero.
Brazil has been peaceful for many years; although it has territorial conflicts with some neighboring countries in South America, Trindade Island is not within the scope of the conflicts.
From the situation investigated by Yuri and the others, the Brazilian Navy soldiers transferred here for rotation were basically troublemakers who had offended their superiors or made mistakes during their service; to put it bluntly, they were sent here to suffer.
The situation investigated by the drones released by the Engineers also verified this claim.
Supplies on the island were only transported once every half month, and occasionally they would be delayed due to weather, leading to a lack of sufficient fresh water and food for the soldiers stationed on the island.
Therefore, the main work of the Navy soldiers stationed on Trindade Island was usually not patrolling the island, but using a set of distillation equipment to produce fresh water and going into the sea to catch fish.
As for that ocean station which also belonged to the Navy, it was first built in the 1950s; because the living environment on the island was harsh, the ocean station was only activated for three or four months a year, and including daily maintenance, there were only three or four people there.
So Sun Cheng and his team took over Trindade Island with peace of mind and built a small base on the island.
