Chapter 643: The Autobots' Counterattack (Part Two)
Waltham, a new materials laboratory affiliated with Thor Company.
Kevin Hanks, a materials expert hired by Thor Company who has worked there for fourteen years, wore a protective suit, held a metal shard smaller than an adult's palm, and looked at the person who delivered it with displeasure.
"Bumblebee's remains have been sent to you for research for eight days, and this is the only piece of metal you've managed to cut off?"
"In fact, to avoid affecting subsequent tests on Bumblebee's body, we only cut off six pieces in total. You know, most ordinary cold and hot cutting methods are useless against these aliens' bodies; we had to use lasers to cut it!"
Kevin Hanks raised an eyebrow. Bumblebee's remains had been at Waltham for over a week. Over the past week, Thor Company had mobilized a large group of scientific research elites from its many laboratories to concentrate on conducting a technical assessment of this Autobot's remains.
However, the results were not very good; after all, the gap in level between Earth civilization and Cybertronian civilization was simply too vast.
For a backward civilization that cannot even develop and utilize its own satellites to try and fully grasp the products of a civilization that began interstellar colonization millions of years ago—how could that ever be an easy task?
But even though it was difficult, Thor Company was still willing to invest heavily in researching Bumblebee's body.
What research value did an Autobot's remains have?
Those in the know all understood that the value was extremely high.
The alloy used in their bodies could withstand the vast majority of weapons on Earth, was heat-resistant, corrosion-resistant, and also possessed a certain degree of self-repair capability.
Their Spark could provide abundant, long-term energy for a behemoth weighing several tons or even tens of tons.
In the eyes of many human scientists, the technology utilized by the Spark was "black technology" comparable to the legendary nuclear fusion; once mastered, the benefits for the advancement of Earth's civilization would be enormous.
Autobots are Mechanical Life; their transformation abilities also involved many fields, such as picometer-level electronic components smaller than nanometers, malleable Memory Metal, combat systems that perfectly simulate any weapon or equipment on Earth, and so on.
Kevin Hanks held the piece of Bumblebee's mecha fragment that had just been sent to his laboratory and weighed it slightly, finding it not heavy.
"Can only use laser cutting? It seems the melting point is very high..."
Relying on his experience, after making some preliminary assessments, he clapped his hands and summoned all the staff in the laboratory.
"This is the Autobot surface mecha slice just sent over from above... Cheney, go prepare; we'll do an anti-corrosion test later..."
"Understood, Supervisor!"
"Kailin, you all test its melting and boiling points first, and decompose it into whole pieces during the test. I need at least twenty small pieces for other simultaneous tests..."
"No problem, but it might take one to two days to complete the whole process!"
"Then find a way to get some fragment particles first; other groups need them too!"
"Alright, we'll finish as soon as possible!"
"Murphy, you keep a close eye on Kailin's side. Once the particles are out, take them for composition analysis!"
"Hmm, I hope it won't be cheap carbon steel again!"
Kevin Hanks had assigned the tasks and did not stay in the new materials laboratory for long.
After returning to his office to get his coat, he walked toward another building located next door.
Bumblebee's remains were currently being kept there, where there was a nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometer laboratory.
Bumblebee's remains were there now, undergoing a series of tests.
As the supervisor of the new materials laboratory, Kevin Hanks possessed sufficient access privileges.
He entered the building easily and walked toward the nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometer laboratory.
After using his ID pass to enter the outer observation room, several technical research heads from Thor Company were all gathered here in several transparent observation rooms, watching as technicians conducted a series of tests on Bumblebee's remains.
"It's truly unbelievable; these alien lives are Silicon-based Lifeforms that are completely different from us humans on Earth..."
"They have massive amounts of picometer-level electronic components inside their bodies. These electronic components are equivalent to our human cellular structure and are their most important and primitive components..."
"... So what exactly is the operating principle of the Spark? How does such a small structure manage to provide a steady stream of surging power to a behemoth weighing four or five tons..."
"And how exactly do they achieve the free transformation between robot form and vehicle form..."
A large group of Thor Company's technical research heads were whispering to familiar friends nearby while watching the test on Bumblebee's remains.
Kevin Hanks's arrival did not attract much attention, and he did not show any impatience regarding this.
Many technical personnel were not good at handling interpersonal relationships; he was just one of them.
A group of technicians was still observing the test on Bumblebee's remains with great interest, but no one noticed that at this very moment, in one of the buildings at Thor Company headquarters, a seemingly brand-new tape recorder was continuously transmitting intelligence to the outside.
"Bumblebee's remains discovered... location confirmed... please act as soon as possible..."
Accompanied by a very rhythmic communication, in an abandoned factory more than ten kilometers away, Optimus Prime suddenly raised his head.
"Soundwave has confirmed the location of Bumblebee's remains. Autobots, prepare for action..."
A few days ago, after discovering that their former ally—the United States—had stolen and transported Autobot remains within Egypt, the furious Autobots, led by Optimus Prime, had snatched all six stolen remains back from a United States Navy warship.
Being different from the Decepticons, although the Autobots were angry, they did not take revenge on the United States Navy.
They had only killed a dozen soldiers when they boarded the warship and encountered attacks from the naval personnel on board.
After reviving that batch of fallen Autobots, Optimus Prime left a portion of the Autobots in Africa, letting them return to Soli first to diligently manage the temporary Base.
As for Optimus Prime himself, he took Ironhide and over a dozen other Autobots, crossed the Atlantic Ocean, and landed on the east coast of the United States.
Since it was already known that the remains of Bumblebee and other Autobots, who had died in battle within Jordan while fighting to seize the Matrix of Leadership, had been transported back to the country by the Americans.
Even if he hadn't known they were about to be dissected and researched by the Americans, Optimus Prime, this Autobot Leader, could not sit by and watch the remains of his loyal subordinates and companions be insulted by humans after their deaths.
And so, after the rescue team landed on the east coast, they quickly launched their operation. Bumblebee, who was suspected to have been sent to a laboratory affiliated with the United States arms giant Thor Company, was their first rescue target.
