Chapter 644: The Autobots' Counterattack (Part 2) Seeking Subscriptions
"I am taking these five Autobots with me to perform the Awakening of Bumblebee."
Optimus Prime briefly assigned the tasks: "Ironhide, the recorder is currently located inside the headquarters building of this company, and there may be some danger. Leave two Autobots behind to be responsible for security and extraction; take all the remaining Autobots with you to rescue Soundwave!"
"No problem, Leader!"
Ironhide was currently seething with rage; it was still unclear where the Americans had transported the remains of his lover, Chromia.
At the thought that her body might be dissected by the Americans at any moment, he, who already had little affection for the Americans, wanted nothing more than to wreak havoc.
Unfortunately, Optimus Prime had clearly sensed his current problem; when they raided the U. S. naval vessel to rescue their comrades' remains a few days ago, Optimus Prime had not brought him along.
Although he had brought Ironhide along this time, it was mainly out of concern that he might commit some irreparable mistake.
Ironhide was assigned a trivial task; although he was somewhat unhappy, he did not question the authority of the Leader, Optimus Prime.
After the tasks were arranged, the Autobots quickly began their operation.
Because the captain of the Cassette Troops—Soundwave—had already disguised himself and entered the Thor Company headquarters to gather intelligence.
Bumblebee's location had been clearly investigated. Optimus Prime led five Autobots directly, taking the lead in vehicle mode. They easily smashed through the automatic vehicle barrier at the entrance of the Thor Company headquarters. After entering, the group of over a dozen vehicles quickly split into two teams: six drove toward the building where Bumblebee was located, and six drove toward the main headquarters building.
Optimus Prime had not expected it to be so simple to charge in; it was not until he approached the building mentioned by the recorder where Bumblebee's remains were stored that he issued his orders.
"Prepare for battle, but remember not to kill needlessly!"
"Yes, Leader!"
The six Autobots quickly shifted into combat mode. Optimus Prime looked at the laboratory building, which was installed with bulletproof tempered glass, and the keypad-locked door at the entrance, but he did not summon his Laser Cannon.
He saw a trash can not far away, trotted over, lifted it with ease, and then slammed it violently toward the keypad-locked door of the laboratory building.
"Boom!"
Under the impact of his immense strength, the keypad-locked door shattered easily.
At the same time, a shrill alarm sounded.
The security system of the Thor Company headquarters, which was strict and rigorous by human standards, was not worth mentioning in front of the powerful Autobots.
Even Optimus Prime had not expected the operation to go so smoothly. After entering the building, the six Autobots split up in pairs, and soon Optimus Prime received a call from his companions.
"Leader, we have found Bumblebee!"
"I'll be there immediately!"
Optimus Prime arrived at once. When he reached the location, he discovered that Bumblebee's remains were placed inside a laboratory surrounded by special radiation-proof glass.
The technicians inside the laboratory had been so frightened when the alarm sounded that they were scrambling to flee in all directions.
When Optimus Prime and the others entered, they happened to run into these technical executives of the Thor Company, but this Autobot Leader did not make things difficult for them.
The laboratory used by the Thor Company to store Bumblebee's remains was very spacious and contained many Precision Instruments.
When Optimus Prime and the others arrived, the first thing they saw was Bumblebee in the center of the laboratory.
When they saw that his remains were covered in scars but generally still intact, smiles appeared on everyone's faces.
"Fortunately, we didn't arrive too late!"
Drawing his Heavy Sword, Optimus Prime walked up to the special radiation-proof glass and delivered a diagonal slash to the left and right of the glass in front of him.
Screech!
Accompanied by a huge 'X' mark appearing on the glass wall, he extended his foot and gave it a light kick, and the glass wall cracked, creating an opening that allowed them to move in and out freely.
The armor on his chest opened, and the Matrix of Leadership floated out under Optimus Prime's control, landing in his hands.
Walking to the front of Bumblebee's remains, he knelt halfway before this young Warrior who had sacrificed himself to find the Matrix of Leadership to save him, his expression incomparably solemn.
"Bumblebee, my young lieutenant... the Autobots still need you, wake up!"
He controlled the Matrix of Leadership, letting it hover above Bumblebee's chest.
With a light tap of his finger on Bumblebee's body, the chest armor protecting Bumblebee's Spark automatically opened.
Looking at the Spark inside that had completely extinguished, Optimus Prime controlled the Matrix of Leadership and began to activate Bumblebee's Spark.
In an instant, dazzling azure electric arcs began to leap continuously from the Matrix of Leadership, striking toward Bumblebee's extinguished Spark.
"No matter how many times I witness it with my own eyes, it still feels unbelievable."
The Autobot Warrior Bullet, who was standing guard to the side, pressed one hand to his own chest. Not long ago, in the battle where Starscream and the others surrounded and killed Optimus Prime, he had been surrounded and killed by several times his number of Decepticon Cannon Fodder.
A few days ago, the Leader had also used the Matrix of Leadership to revive him and other fallen comrades.
To this day, Bullet still remembered that while his consciousness was muddled, it felt as if he were being tightly embraced by a pair of warm, large hands, and then a voice kept calling to him, telling him to open his eyes.
And when he finally struggled to open his eyes, all he saw were familiar faces.
"We follow a great Leader..."
The Autobot Exhaust remarked with emotion, clearly having heard Bullet's murmurs.
Bullet nodded slightly, his eyes fixed intently on Bumblebee in the center of the laboratory.
As the Matrix of Leadership injected more and more surging sources of life into Bumblebee's Spark, that extinguished Spark seemed to be ignited, and soon it began to emit a dazzling light.
At the same time, Bumblebee's body began to twist and twitch.
Azure electric arcs spread bit by bit from the Matrix of Leadership, soon completely enveloping Bumblebee's body. The wounds on his body were also being completely repaired at a speed visible to the naked eye, becoming brand new.
The Awakening lasted only a few dozen seconds. Accompanied by two pillars of light shooting into the sky, Bumblebee suddenly opened his eyes.
Sensing the presence of others around him, the not-yet-fully-conscious Bumblebee instinctively threw a punch toward Optimus Prime, but it was easily caught by him.
"There are no enemies here, Bumblebee!"
Optimus Prime used a gentle voice with a hint of a smile to soothe his young lieutenant, while simultaneously reaching out to tap lightly on the center of his brow, transmitting everything that had happened during this time into Bumblebee's mind.
"Welcome back, my lieutenant!"
"Leader... I am... I see..."
Bumblebee's consciousness quickly fully awakened, and he digested the information transmitted by Optimus Prime.
Upon learning that his human friend Sam and his girlfriend Mikaela had both died in the bombing, he felt incomparably deep self-reproach and sadness.
"This is not your fault, Bumblebee..."
Optimus Prime also knew what his sorrow was; these fallen Autobots could be re-Awakened by the Matrix of Leadership due to their special physical structures.
But as humans, Sam and Mikaela were not so lucky.
Bumblebee had spent most of the past year or so protecting Sam's side; if one were to ask which of these Autobots had the deepest bond with Sam, it would undoubtedly be this young Warrior.
"Boom!"
The suddenly intensifying sounds of explosions made Optimus Prime slightly furrow his brows; he patted Bumblebee on the shoulder, stood up himself first, and then reached out to pull him up as well.
"Alright, now is not the time to be sad, Bumblebee!"
He said sternly: "We still have quite a few companions whose remains have fallen into the hands of the Americans and whose whereabouts remain unknown to this day!"
"During the time you and Prowl were away, intelligence has always been collected by Blaster."
"Now that you have awakened, I need you to pull yourself together as soon as possible; our other companions still need you to provide us with intelligence. We don't have much time left; we must rescue them all before the humans dissect them!"
Bumblebee trembled all over upon hearing this, then immediately raised his head to look at Optimus Prime and nodded firmly.
"Leave it to me, Leader!"
"Very good, let us evacuate as soon as possible!"
Because of the Americans' betrayal, coupled with the unknown whereabouts of his girlfriend Chromia, Ironhide's temper had become increasingly explosive during this period.
Although Optimus Prime could use orders to stop him from wreaking havoc in the United States, he could not suppress the anger and hatred for the Americans in his heart.
As the Leader of the Autobots, the young Optimus Prime was also filled with disappointment toward this country because of the greed and betrayal of the Americans.
But he did not hate humanity, because he had been clear from the beginning that compared to the humans who had lived on this planet for who knows how many years, they, the Cybertronians, were the foreign invaders.
Even now, this young Leader was still trying his best to avoid a full-scale war between the Autobots and Earth's local hegemon—the United States.
He had only recently experienced death, and that feeling was by no means pleasant.
And war would inevitably bring death; when that time came, not only would humans die, but Autobots would as well.
It is just a pity that Optimus Prime was trying his best to avoid war.
Yet he did not know that from the very beginning, the greed of the Americans had destined that a full-scale conflict and war were inevitable.
Perhaps war might not even be too far off!
He rendezvoused with Ironhide, who had wreaked havoc inside Thor Company and vented the anger in his heart fiercely.
Optimus Prime had originally wanted to reprimand him a few times, but when he noticed that Ironhide had been very measured in only destroying some of Thor Company's Laboratories and research equipment without causing any casualties, he considered the merit of Ironhide risking his life to save and wake him not long ago, so he scolded him slightly and did not make things difficult for him again.
With Bumblebee, the expert in intelligence gathering, the subsequent rescue operations of the Autobots went very smoothly over the next few days.
Ratchet, Shake, Crane, and others were rescued and Awakened one after another, but the Triple Changer—Drift, the Elite Warrior—Sideswipe, and Ironhide's girlfriend—the female Autobot Chromia, were still missing.
Ironhide became increasingly irritable during the rescue operations; not long ago, inside the headquarters of General Dynamics, he even deliberately detonated a high-yield bomb before leaving, causing General Dynamics to suffer heavy losses.
And with the activity of the Autobots on American soil, the military's several major arms contractors were attacked one after another.
The Pentagon, Capitol Hill, and the White House could all no longer sit still.
……
After it rained last night, the weather forecast said there would be heavy to torrential rain today. I thought the municipal projects would stop, so I didn't stay up late to rush the manuscript; I set a timer for a saved chapter and went to sleep.
As a result, when I woke up today, the power was actually out, and it was out for almost the whole day. We haven't had a power outage lasting more than two hours in at least half a year here; today was the first time.
