Chapter 669: Soundwave Enters the Game

~6 min read 1,185 words

The Jordan Petra Mountains, an alien battlefield that had caused quite a stir not long ago.

The passage of time has allowed forgetful humans to quickly forget what once happened here.

Not only did the United States withdraw the Tombstone soldiers who had been searching the surrounding mountains and plains for potential alien energy radiation, but even the Jordanian authorities withdrew most of the soldiers they had sent here.

Only one company remains stationed in a temporarily constructed camp near the battlefield, waiting for the evacuation order that could come at any time.

In the ruins of the Nameless Temple, Soundwave wanders, with Ravage by his side.

These ruins, said to have once hidden the sacred object, the Matrix of Leadership, have been searched repeatedly by Soundwave and his team dozens of times over the past half-month.

So much so that now, he could even account for how many stone fragments there are in the ruins.

"According to Starscream's intelligence, the tomb of the six Primes is right here, but for some reason, it cannot be found!"

Although he is the Intelligence Chief of the Decepticon Legion, Soundwave is not a great scientist like Starscream or Shockwave.

He merely possesses, within certain areas of surveillance, technologies that even other Decepticon scientists marvel at.

Beyond that, Soundwave's performance is not much stronger than other Decepticons, especially since he is not very skilled at combat.

Ravage crawled out from a pile of ruins, "Master, could it be that Starscream has deceived us?"

Soundwave has pondered this question many times over the past period; he shook his head: "The Fallen previously brought Astrotrain and the others here, so the intelligence should be correct. It seems those Primes used a technology we cannot understand or detect to hide the Matrix of Leadership!"

The Fallen has been missing for some time now, and even someone as powerful as Soundwave cannot monitor the entire Earth; after all, although there are many satellites launched by human nations on Earth, they are not yet numerous enough to cover every corner of the planet.

He also did not notice the final battle between Optimus Prime and The Fallen, but after The Fallen aggressively stormed into Egypt.

He soon lost track of him, and Optimus Prime, who had been sniped by Starscream and the others, was instead resurrected, and began to re-awaken the Autobots whose deaths he had previously recorded, leading them to cause a scene in the United States.

With Soundwave's wisdom, it is naturally not hard to guess that The Fallen, that powerful Prime, the former teacher of the Decepticon Legion commander—Megatron, and the true creator of the Decepticons, has likely fallen, and died at the hands of the Autobots.

As Megatron's staunch confidant, Soundwave knows many of Megatron's unknown secrets.

Therefore, he does not care at all about the death of The Fallen, and he knows that Megatron would not care either.

However, as for the six Primes and the Matrix of Leadership they once guarded, there is no doubt that those are the things Megatron cares about and values.

Therefore, Soundwave gave up continuing to monitor the globe and instead came here to the Jordan Petra Mountains to search for the burial site of the six Primes.

Of course, with Autobots, Starscream, and traitors like Frenzy and Barricade on Earth, he could not truly ignore them completely.

Soundwave's capable assistant, Laserbeak, was sent by him to monitor Starscream.

Recently, they discovered quite a few of Starscream's little schemes; although Soundwave had twice caused Starscream's rebellions to fail during the civil war, that was based on him having another helper—Shockwave.

If he were to truly face Starscream head-on, the major loss from over a year ago is a painful lesson he could never forget.

Soundwave and Ravage both have excellent patience; even after more than half a month with no results, they can still persist in searching the ruins of the Nameless Temple for the tomb of the Primes, which is hidden who knows where.

However, their search operation is about to be disrupted.

A metallic bird resembling a vulture flew in from afar this day, and after emitting a sharp, special cry over the Nameless Temple, it landed on the left arm Soundwave extended.

"Master, an informant we planted beside Starscream was suddenly dealt with... Just one day ago, he passed me a piece of intelligence: Starscream and Barricade, taking him and two other Decepticons, transported a batch of items to Saint Helena Island in the South Atlantic Ocean..."

No fluctuations can be seen on Soundwave's face; ambitious individuals abound within the Decepticon Legion, and long ago, under Megatron's orders, they planted many spies within the Decepticon Legion to monitor those ambitious ones.

Starscream is the one watched most closely among them; possessing a dark history of two rebellions, it is difficult for him not to be the focus of attention.

"What was transported? Saint Helena Island... I remember Starscream shouldn't have any hidden bases on the island..."

Starscream came to Earth over a hundred years ago, following Megatron.

Because he has stayed on Earth for a long enough time, although his operational focus is the Moon, he has also built many bases on Earth to collect resources.

After Optimus Prime led the Autobots to arrive, the cooperation with the Americans to establish NEST was actually not without effect.

At least in the year or more since NEST was established, the Autobots, training the NEST soldiers, destroyed the vast majority of Decepticon bases discovered on Earth.

Of course, those bases were mostly located within the traditional spheres of influence of the United States.

In some regions hostile to the United States, there might still be secret bases of Starscream, but Saint Helena Island is not among them; Soundwave had previously, while monitoring the globe, subtly controlled human satellites to conduct a sweep of it.

"It is Energy Pillars, Master, many Energy Pillars!"

Laserbeak sold out his former colleague without hesitation, "The intelligence sent back by the informant who was dealt with before he died shows that Starscream is making a deal with Frenzy, trading with many Energy Pillars!"

"Energy Pillars!"

Soundwave's face turned stern, and he immediately realized the severity.

As Megatron's confidant, he knows that Megatron and the former Leader of the Autobots—Sentinel Prime—have a grand plan, but he does not know the specifics very clearly.

And that batch of Energy Pillars in Starscream's hands undoubtedly comes from the Autobot ship, the Ark, which crashed on the Moon.

Those Energy Pillars have great use for the plan of Megatron and Sentinel Prime; he cannot let Starscream use them wantonly.

However, over a year ago, Soundwave had just suffered a major loss because of Frenzy and Starscream, and he still remembers it very clearly now.

"You go and investigate the situation again, be careful, start from Frenzy's side... I have a bad premonition; I don't know what Starscream and the others are doing in private this time!"

"Yes, Master!"

There have been many things going on recently, and the update times for the past two days have been quite unstable.
