Chapter 682: Black Market (Bonus chapter for Alliance Leader
Sun Cheng did not relax the security of Trindade Island just because of the Autobots' departure and Starscream's delayed appearance.
Neither he nor Starscream were lacking in patience.
Sun Cheng and his group did not leave Trindade Island, even though the team of naval soldiers on the island had "lost" contact for over ten days.
This was because the South American country to which this island belonged had, since the beginning of this year, become a second Mexico due to the intensifying conflicts between several major South American drug lords and the government, turning the entire nation into a place rife with corruption and rampant drug trafficking.
Base No. 2 was still expanding, which was why Yuri and the others had received authorization from Sun Cheng to successfully control a large swath of land in the southwest through means such as selling arms at low prices and replacing key figures with Humanoid Decepticons, while the prosperous regions in the east and center were plunged into unprecedented chaos.
The Brazilian Navy was considered relatively powerful within South America, but it could not withstand the chaotic battles that had broken out between drug lords and military police in several coastal cities some time ago, to the point where even the military had to devote most of its energy to protecting coastal ports and cracking down on smuggling.
Trindade Island, isolated overseas, had completely become a forgotten place that no one cared about.
Of course, it was not necessarily the case that everyone was unaware of what was happening on the island.
Recently, Sun Cheng had noticed that several spy satellites would pass over Trindade Island almost every interval, twenty-four hours a day.
He was not unfamiliar with two of these satellites, as they came from a certain Far East country and Eastern Europe, respectively.
The components used in their satellites contained finished products manufactured by Base No. 2; although Sun Cheng knew this was quite underhanded, he had indeed installed backdoors in the spy satellites of both countries that he could "borrow" at any time.
"This island has been exposed..."
Sun Cheng walked onto Trindade Island without concern; an area of over 700,000 square meters had already been cleared in the region near the coast on the east side of the island.
Workers directed robots to blast uneven hills flat and fill in gullies.
Watching the Pioneer, who was supervising there while also keeping an eye out for external enemies, a curve formed at the corner of Sun Cheng's mouth.
"Don't Earthlings want to obtain black technology from the planet Cybertron... They are searching the whole world for Autobots and Decepticons; since they want it so much... we might as well establish a Black Market here..."
This idea did not pop up suddenly; in fact, Sun Cheng had had it a long time ago.
As for the reason, it was naturally because he had discovered the Polar Bear's dishonesty; although he had reached a cooperation agreement with Moscow, the Polar Bear always liked to engage in some uncomfortable little tricks behind his back.
And as for a certain Far East country, although there had never been any problems with their cooperation and their performance had been very good.
It was just that this certain Far East country at the 2008 time node of this world clearly could not compare to the Polar Bear—whose economic strength was far inferior to it—in terms of comprehensive national power, influence, and so on.
Sun Cheng not only needed a stable source of raw materials and components, but he also needed an ally that could stand up to the United States when necessary.
Therefore, ever since the Decepticons' large-scale invasion of Earth, he had been thinking about whether to win over more human forces and countries on Earth.
He needed more sources to provide him with stable materials, and at the same time, Sun Cheng also needed various countries to tacitly approve of his control over South America.
Only in this way could he calm his mind to manage his relationship with the Autobots and muster all his strength to face the returning Megatron.
Trindade Island had seemingly been discovered by various countries on Earth, whose nerves had been very sensitive during this period, due to the previous battle between Sun Cheng's group and Soundwave.
When spy satellites began to hover overhead at regular intervals, the Pioneer and the others quickly sensed the anomaly.
But Sun Cheng appeared very indifferent to this; to him, this was a good opportunity.
"The island's defense system must be further strengthened... Always regard Earthlings with the greatest malice; they are the most greedy and warlike people I have ever seen. In some respects, perhaps even we Decepticons are not as bad as Earthlings..."
"This island will be a Black Market where we deal and do business with Earthlings. We will not exclude Earthlings from coming to the island and residing here, so we need to be fully prepared to prevent anyone from causing trouble, and even more so, to be vigilant against anyone provoking us..."
"There might even be a nuclear bomb falling from the sky one day..."
Yuri and the others had completely mastered a port on the east coast of Brazil; it was a seaport where they frequently transported goods in and out.
Base No. 2 was secretly building more Cargo Submarines on the west coast of South America, which could then use Trindade Island as a transit station to transport traded supplies to the base.
"Everything as you wish, Master!"
The Pioneer first replied respectfully, then looked at him with some confusion, "But will the Autobots and Starscream sit idly by and watch us do this?"
Sun Cheng nodded and then shook his head, "The Autobots are very disgusted by the spread of Cybertronian technology on Earth, but they shouldn't interfere with us, provided that we don't sell large-scale weapons of mass destruction to Earthlings!"
"Besides, they might not necessarily become our trading partners in the future!"
When he previously went to the temporary Autobot base located in Soli, Sun Cheng had already discovered that their great Scientist—Wheeljack—had arrived on Earth.
However, he still had quite a few good things in his hands that even the Autobots would envy.
Not to mention anything else, the Energy Pillars alone were enough to make Optimus Prime and the others make concessions.
The brutal war lasting millions of years had not only caused the Decepticons to lose a massive number of technical personnel, but the Autobots' losses were even greater.
During the First Civil War, the Decepticons once briefly captured the Autobot capital, Iacon, and a large number of Autobot scholars were killed at that time.
When the Second Civil War was about to end, as the Battle of Iacon reached its most tragic point, even a great Scientist like Wheeljack had to take up arms and rush to the front line.
The death of a large number of technical personnel and scientists had already caused the manufacturing capabilities and technology of both the Decepticons and the Autobots to suffer a serious regression.
Although Sun Cheng had not yet mastered the production and manufacturing of Energy Pillars, I am afraid there were fewer than five individuals within the Autobots and Decepticons who still mastered its manufacturing process.
Coupled with some other things, he had enough confidence to turn the Autobots into frequent visitors to this Black Market as well.
As for Starscream...
Sun Cheng frowned: "Starscream and the Decepticon Legion are indeed a trouble. Taking advantage of this coming short-lived peace, our plan to replace our New Body should also be put on the agenda!"
Upon hearing this, the Pioneer silently clenched his fists; he was equally eager for the speed and power of someone like Astrotrain.
Thanks to book friend "Li Yongsheng" for the tip and support, thank you very much.
