Chapter 683: Undercurrents Surging

~7 min read 1,267 words

Sun Cheng and his companions were not sensing things wrong!

After several satellites launched by various powerful nations on Earth detected anomalies on Trindade Island in outer space, the high-level officials of several human nations quickly took action.

Moscow, inside the Federal Presidential Palace.

The former iron-fisted president, now Federal Prime Minister Vladimir, had his brows tightly furrowed.

"It seems they are preparing to abandon the Severodvinsk naval base and start anew; it appears our alien friends are very dissatisfied with us now..."

"Yes, apart from some Normal Mode Workers still receiving supplies from the previous agreement, Frenzy and the others have not appeared at Severodvinsk for a long time..."

As for the reason, Vladimir and his colleagues were actually well aware of it.

When the Decepticons launched a massive invasion previously, the main force of the powerful United States Second Fleet was instantly destroyed.

That scene truly terrified quite a few nations, and Russia was one of them.

Facing that kind of natural disaster descending from the sky, Moscow knew they were just as defenseless as the United States.

Because Sun Cheng had once mentioned to them that the Decepticon Legion was one of his opponents.

After witnessing the destructive power of the Decepticons with their own eyes, Moscow decisively chose neutrality, turning a blind eye to the Decepticons entering and exiting Russian territory for a period of time.

This undoubtedly violated the agreement they had originally signed with Sun Cheng to jointly resist the Decepticons.

Although in that agreement, Moscow only promised to take action against the Decepticons when they threatened the safety of Russia.

However, the agreement also stipulated that Moscow must not cooperate with the Decepticons in any form, and had an obligation to pass on any intelligence collected regarding the Decepticons to Sun Cheng and his companions in a timely manner.

Moscow was clearly very aware of how enormous the benefits they had gained from their cooperation with Sun Cheng over the past year or so were.

Now that they sensed the other party was very likely preparing to abandon Severodvinsk and them, they naturally felt a sense of crisis.

"Your Excellency, I am prepared to send an envoy to Trindade Island in secret to re-negotiate with Frenzy and the others!"

"It seems that is the only way!"

Beidu, inside a conference room.

"Come to think of it, we haven't seen Mr. Frenzy for a while now."

"Hmm, the hydroelectric station we are cooperating on has now been built and put into use. Why not send a comrade to go over there and take a look."

"That works too. Judging from their previous performance, at least the alien faction led by Mr. Frenzy has no hostility toward Earth."

"It is also a very good opportunity for our great cause of national rejuvenation; the country must seize it!"

"Agreed!"

"Seconded!"

Compared to Moscow and Beidu, who were already cooperating with Sun Cheng, the other powers that had discovered the secret of Trindade Island were in a much worse mood.

Paris, Elysee Palace.

"Mr. President, according to our analysis over the past few days, we can basically confirm that the group of aliens appearing on Trindade Island includes both Decepticons and Autobots..."

"Trindade Island, I remember the sovereignty of that island should belong to Brazil..."

"Yes, but because of the current chaotic situation in their country, that navy, which claims to be the strongest in South America, clearly lacks the strength to take it back from the aliens..."

"I heard the Americans once cooperated with the aliens, but they fell out later..."

"You mean... I understand, I will arrange for someone to try and make contact..."

"Hmm!"

The attitude at Downing Street 10 was similar to that of the Elysee Palace, but the two "European failures" possessed the least intelligence and their contact with aliens was near zero; although they both made the decision to make contact first, they were also very uneasy in their hearts.

After all, the two previous invasions by the Decepticon Legion in the Atlantic Ocean and the Red Sea had almost destroyed two main fleets of the United States.

That kind of destructive power was far from something that the two long-declined old colonial powers, the "European failures," could provoke.

Four of the five "rogue states" had discovered the changes on Trindade Island; there was no reason for the biggest rogue of them all not to know.

Washington, inside a conference room at the White House.

President Cheney rubbed his forehead with a headache, "I have only a few months left in my term; can't you just let me finish it in peace?"

Gathered in this conference room were several high-ranking officials of the current cabinet and some key personnel from the Ministry of National Defense.

The reason for the emergency meeting was that a spy satellite belonging to the military had originally been tasked with slightly increasing surveillance on Brazil—the largest country in South America—due to the recent domestic chaos there, in order to assess at any time to what extent the situation in Brazil would deteriorate.

Unexpectedly, by chance, they accidentally captured footage of Autobots, Frenzy, and Decepticons fighting on an overseas island belonging to Brazil.

"Damn Autobots!"

Many people in the conference room still remembered the losses caused by the Autobots when they wantonly attacked laboratories belonging to major arms giants within the United States over half a month ago, and low-voiced curses were everywhere.

Clearly, these "forgetful" politicians "forgot" that the disaster was originally caused by themselves.

The new Defense Minister Eric was one of the first few to know what had happened on Trindade Island and had already prepared a contingency plan before the meeting.

"Mr. President, regarding Trindade Island, we have currently drafted two plans... The first is to pretend we don't know what is happening on the island and just secretly increase our vigilance..."

Before he could finish, he was interrupted by Secretary of State Gabri.

"Are we, the United States, only capable of passive retreat when facing aliens..."

Eric frowned; although he belonged to the hawkish faction just like Gabri, to be honest, he was not a mindless warmonger.

"Your Excellency, we will inevitably have a war with these aliens in the future, but that war should absolutely not be now. I made that very clear when the Autobots were causing destruction in the country."

"If Your Excellency still hasn't remembered, I don't mind repeating it once more!"

"More than a month ago, the Decepticons' massive invasion caused us to lose the main forces of both the Second and Fifth Fleets; besides that, we also paid the price of over ten thousand naval soldiers killed or wounded."

"Now is the weakest period for America since the Vietnam War; we need at least two to three years to return to our peak. But our opponents are not just the aliens; there are also other countries and forces on Earth, and they will not be sitting idle during this time."

"Mr. Secretary of State, I need to state solemnly here that according to our projections, the number of national forces that have already detected the fighting between aliens on Trindade Island is definitely more than just us... The Pentagon has no doubt that it is very likely that other countries, such as Britain, France, Russia, and China, are already attempting to establish contact with the aliens..."

Cheney waved his hand to stop Gabri and looked at him, asking: "Mr. Minister, so what is your suggestion..."

"The second plan we have drafted is to attempt to make contact with the Decepticon—Frenzy!"
