Chapter 695: Establishing the Promotion System (Part 1)
With the expansion of Base No. 2, the large Underground Karst Cave located deep in the river valley has been modified to the point where almost none of its original appearance remains.
A massive alloy door, nearly one meter thick, fifteen meters high, and thirty meters wide, blocks the entrance to the large Underground Karst Cave, serving as the first gateway guarding the main control center of Base No. 2.
Ignoring the defensive and sensor equipment as well as the stationed Combat Robots inside and outside the alloy door, Sun Cheng and his group walked straight inside.
The originally spacious tunnel had clearly been further expanded and reinforced later on.
The hard mountain rock surrounding the karst cave has now been almost entirely hollowed out; a massive amount of reinforced concrete structures and metal partition plates have caused the total area of the main control center—the original starting point of Base No. 2—to nearly triple, while its ability to withstand Bunker-busting Missile strikes and seismic activity has risen sharply.
As Base No. 2 continued to expand outward, most of the manufacturing capabilities originally concentrated in the Underground Karst Cave were relocated to more spacious areas outside.
Consequently, the main control center now has a massive amount of extra space, which has been converted into various large Warehouses, Laboratories, conference rooms, and so on.
Atlas quickly gathered a group of Workers who met the promotion criteria; there were seven of them in total, among whom Adam and Mola, whom Sun Cheng had some impression of, were notably present.
"Master, your loyal servants pay their respects to you!"
When Sun Cheng stepped into the conference room where these Workers were assembled, all the Workers bowed in unison to salute him.
The Decepticon Legion has a rigid hierarchy; Workers are a special class of soldiers bred by Shockwave and others during the Cybertronian Civil War, specifically for various tasks such as mining, manufacturing, and logistics. Although they are crowned with the name of Worker, they are in fact slaves within the Decepticon Legion who are bullied by everyone.
The status of Workers within the Decepticon Legion is even lower than that of the Medical Spiders, who might lose their lives at any time if the Decepticons they are treating are in a bad mood.
Therefore, even though Sun Cheng never deliberately emphasized it, the Decepticon Workers bred by Base No. 2, whose basic databases were all copied from original Workers like Atlas, inherited the perception of high and low status from the moment of their birth.
Regarding this, as the greatest beneficiary of this hierarchical system, Sun Cheng had no intention of forcibly correcting it.
His gaze turned to Mola, who appeared somewhat out of place among the seven Decepticon Workers, and a faint arc could be seen at the corners of his mouth.
Compared to the slaves mass-produced by the Decepticon Legion, Base No. 2 has a lower success rate in breeding due to immature technology, and it does not have the vast resources of the Decepticon Legion.
Therefore, the positioning of the Workers bred by Base No. 2 was, from the very beginning, that of important vital forces rather than slaves.
Although their bodies are far inferior to the Engineers under Sun Cheng, they are much stronger than the slave Workers mass-bred by the Decepticon Legion.
It is not strange that Sun Cheng would recognize Adam; Adam was the first Decepticon Worker successfully bred by Base No. 2, and he was in the Laboratory at the time.
As for Mola, he was also a first—the first Humanoid Decepticon of Base No. 2, even though the technology was not yet mature.
"Mola performed very well in the country of Bo, and from the feedback, other Decepticon Workers dispatched to various South American countries have also successfully fulfilled the requirement of controlling the political situation in South America for Base No. 2..."
"It seems necessary to reclassify the Workers; the traditional Worker Promotion route will remain unchanged, with promotion to Engineer upon meeting the conditions..."
"As for Humanoid Decepticons like Mola, we can consider separating them from the Workers, establishing a new branch of Spies, and designing a new promotion route for them..."
Countless thoughts raced through his mind, and Sun Cheng quickly formed a framework in his heart for how to make improvements.
A clone robot under the control of Phantom handed him a metal plate.
Sun Cheng took it, shot two beams of azure light from his eyes to scan it, and instantly understood the content stored within.
He nodded with satisfaction, "You have done well!"
The Decepticon conference room is a vast, empty space; the walls of the entire room are made of cheap carbon steel plates, and apart from lighting equipment and a few very subtle surveillance cameras, no other furnishings can be seen.
Sun Cheng scanned the conference room, and seeing the few Workers who were exceptionally excited because of his words, he quickly issued the order that made all the Workers thrilled.
"Atlas, I approve the promotion of this batch of Workers; prepare to manufacture New Bodies for them!"
"Yes, Master!"
The Workers knelt on one knee in unison, lowering their heads and trembling as they offered their loyalty to Sun Cheng; this could be considered a ritual that had only recently been added.
After waving his hand to let them rise, he pointed to Mola and said, "Mola, you stay behind; the other Workers may leave first. Once your bodies are manufactured, the Base will notify you to go and replace them with New Bodies!"
After the few Workers saluted and exited the conference room, Sun Cheng looked at Mola, who was still maintaining his human form, and turned to look at Atlas beside him.
"Atlas, how is the digestion of the Humanoid Decepticon technology obtained from Scalpel going?"
Mature Humanoid Decepticon technology has always been one of the black technologies Sun Cheng has craved the most.
The few countries in South America currently controlled by Base No. 2 have indeed not shown any overt resistance for the time being, thanks to the 'Pig-Raising Policy' he personally formulated.
However, Sun Cheng himself is a human, so he knows well that humans are a race that is insatiable and always wants more.
Using himself and human history as a reference, he had already anticipated when formulating the 'Pig-Raising Policy' that in the near future—perhaps in a few years, or perhaps in just one year—
It would not be long before the pigs he personally fattened would rise up to resist his rule for the sake of more benefits.
And the best way to completely dismantle this inevitable resistance is to physically eliminate those rebels.
That is why Sun Cheng is so eager for Humanoid Decepticon technology; he needs more Humanoid Decepticons loyal to him to enter human society and quietly replace the politicians of the small South American countries he controls.
Perhaps one day, when the control technology is more mature, Sun Cheng will consider bringing them back to the real world.
Atlas's voice was full of excitement, and the two arms newly installed on his back also waved unconsciously, "The digestion is going very smoothly, Master. According to your requirements, we have prioritized the digestion and mastery of the Humanoid Decepticon breeding technology. Even the relevant technology for Clone Warriors has currently been organized, and we are in the stage of attempting to digest it..."
Clone Warriors is the true name of the Decepticon Cannon Fodder warriors manufactured by Starscream and the others.
As the name suggests, Clone Warriors involves selecting suitable warriors from the ranks of the Decepticon Legion, backing up their Memory Data and combat experience, and then using special breeding technology to mass-produce Decepticon Warriors with the same memories and combat experience when needed.
Because this breeding technology is like cloning Decepticons, it earned the project name of Clone Warriors.
