Chapter 696: Establishing a Promotion System (Part 2)

~8 min read 1,452 words

Hearing that Atlas and the others had already digested and mastered the cultivation technology for Humanoid Decepticons, Sun Cheng felt a small sense of relief.

In the short term, he needs to face the retaliation from the Decepticon Legion, and in the long term, he will very likely have to start dealing with the Quintessons who have already re-emerged.

Before the planned Mars Base is established, it is best for this piece of South American territory that Sun Cheng has chosen as his own private land to continue developing steadily.

Looking at Mola, who seemed slightly uneasy because he had been left behind alone, he smiled and nodded: "You need not be nervous; the reason I left you behind is simply to let you make a choice for yourself!"

After pondering for a moment, Sun Cheng continued: "I am preparing to redesign a promotion system for all the Decepticons under the base, and that includes you Workers!"

Although Base No. 2 has had a series of promotion and reward plans since very early on.

However, because Sun Cheng's main energy is not focused on the management of Base No. 2, as the commander and highest combat power of the base, his primary task is to formulate development strategies, then maintain the situation, prevent hostile forces from destroying Base No. 2, and create a more ideal external environment for the development of Base No. 2.

Therefore, regarding the development of Base No. 2, he could only delegate more power to the Decepticon Engineers, Workers, and the Central Main Control Intelligence—Huan under his command.

Although judging from the progress of the past year or so, everyone has done quite well.

But in more detailed aspects, Base No. 2 also has quite a few problems.

For example, the relative chaos of the internal hierarchy of the base is one of them.

Because his energy was spread too thin, when previously designing the reward system for the base, Sun Cheng simply and crudely divided it into four grades from high to low, A, B, C, and D, with only a dozen or so different Enhancement schemes.

At the same time, he stipulated that as long as all the Decepticons under the base diligently completed the various Tasks periodically issued by the base.

Such as spying for intelligence, lurking, production and manufacturing, scientific research and design, eliminating resistance forces within South America, etc., after accumulating a certain amount, they could obtain an opportunity for a partial Enhancement.

At that time, Sun Cheng clearly did not consider how eager this group of Decepticons under his command was to achieve promotion in rank and life level.

Especially after Atlas and those other Workers successfully promoted to Engineers, the group of Decepticons, stimulated by this, seemed to collectively transform into task-grinding machines that knew no rest.

As of today, Sun Cheng has realized that his calculations were off.

Utilizing this set of powerful schemes he designed, which were not strictly regulated, Atlas, who simultaneously shoulders several major research projects, can be considered the biggest beneficiary.

To date, he has already obtained four opportunities for partial Enhancement, having enhanced his Brain computing power twice, his Spark once, and added a pair of Multifunctional Mechanical Arms for himself.

In a certain sense, although Atlas has not yet replaced his New Body, he has now opened up an essential gap between himself and ordinary Decepticon Engineers.

If it were just relying on high-efficiency completion of Tasks to obtain Enhancement rewards, Sun Cheng would not care about anything.

But the Decepticons under his command are existences branded with insidiousness and cunning to the bone.

Someone discovered the imperfection in the reward system, namely that when a major scientific research project makes a breakthrough, all participants and those who provided help can be recorded.

Thus, cunning Decepticon Engineers began to use this loophole to obtain more than one opportunity for partial Enhancement in excess.

Among the cunning Engineers who discovered and utilized the loophole, Atlas was surprisingly included.

He was assigned all the research projects that Sun Cheng considered most important, and importance also meant that they were difficult to achieve easily.

As a result, when he retrieved the Task and scientific research information recorded by Huan, he discovered that Atlas, as a helper, had participated in almost all of the scientific research projects of Base No. 2.

It was very obvious that this guy had also discovered the loopholes in the Task, statistics, and reward system that Sun Cheng had set, and used it to grind benefits for himself.

Although he did not care about the small loss caused, Sun Cheng indeed realized where the problem lay, and the cunning of the Decepticons had taught him a lesson once again.

Having discovered the problem, it needed to be corrected as soon as possible, and for this reason, he prepared to re-establish a promotion system.

Regarding the new promotion system, Sun Cheng prepared to refer to the Decepticons and the Autobots.

The Decepticon Legion has spent millions of years forming a complete set of relatively comprehensive hierarchical systems.

Among them, those ranked at the very bottom of this Pyramid are undoubtedly the Decepticon Workers and Medical Spiders used as slaves.

They are not treated as the same race, their combat power is very low, and they might not even be able to deal with an underage human.

The status of soldiers is one level higher than Workers and Medical Spiders; they are the replicated Warriors held in the hands of Starscream and Shockwave.

Although there are special existences among the replicated Warriors like the Terrorcons and the Constructicons, the vast majority of replicated Warriors are bred for the purpose of being cheap Cannon Fodder that the Decepticon Legion needs to consume on the battlefield.

Therefore, the status of these Ordinary Soldiers within the entire Decepticon Legion is only slightly higher than that of slaves.

The backbone of the Decepticon Legion is the relatively large-scale Advanced Warriors, who possess stronger combat power than Ordinary Soldiers. A portion of elite replicated Warriors are also affiliated with this hierarchical system; they are brave and good at fighting, have a certain degree of autonomy in Tasks, and can obtain a certain amount of energy supply from time to time.

Further up are those called Elite Warriors by the Decepticons themselves, who are the true combat power of the Decepticon Legion. Most of them are loyal to Megatron, a small number are attracted by the cruelty and coldness of Shockwave, only a very few have defected to Starscream, or simply established their own faction, harboring their own little thoughts, occasionally fighting for the Decepticon Legion, while most of the time they are regarded as unstable factors within the Decepticon Legion.

Strictly speaking, when measuring strength, within the Decepticon Legion, only those appointed by Megatron as leaders of an important battle team, military institution, or legion are qualified to be called Commanders.

At least the strength of an Elite Warrior level is a hard indicator for being appointed as a Commander, so strictly speaking, Commander is just a symbol of power and honor, although it was later separated and ranked above Elite Warrior.

For the bellicose Decepticons, being able to become a Commander under the Decepticon Legion requires not only wisdom but also powerful combat strength.

Even Soundwave, who is least adept at fighting, possesses the strength of an Elite Warrior himself.

Blitzwing and Starscream both possess powerful combat strength slightly weaker than a Leader, and each leads and controls a certain amount of military force or power, so they, along with Soundwave, are all Commanders of the Decepticon Legion.

Within the Decepticon Legion, those ranked at the very top of the hierarchical Pyramid are undoubtedly the Leaders.

A Leader is an existence that completely transcends Elite Warriors and Commanders, requiring not only powerful combat strength but also sufficient wisdom and means.

To date, there are only two Leaders recognized by the Decepticon Legion, namely Megatron and Shockwave.

Even Megatron's enemies, including Sun Cheng and the Autobots, have to admit that Megatron is a cruel, cold, overbearing, yet very charismatic commander.

He gave too much trust and power to Shockwave, and Shockwave never betrayed this trust.

The Autobots have had a large number of old nobles and Royalists from the Council of Ancients era since their inception, and a hierarchical system naturally exists, it just isn't as obvious as it is in the Decepticon Legion.

The hierarchical system of the Autobots is generally not much different from the Decepticons; from top to bottom, it is also divided into five levels: Leader, Commander, Elite Warrior, Advanced Warrior, and Ordinary Warrior, with only one level less than the Decepticons—the slaves.
