Chapter 726: Replica Warrior
Several months ago, Sun Cheng and his team unexpectedly obtained the Decepticon Legion's Chief Medical Officer—Scalpel, who had been killed by Bumblebee.
From his Memory Chip, Base No. 2 finally obtained two technologies Sun Cheng had been dreaming of: Humanoid Decepticons and Replica Warrior Cultivation.
Scalpel was the Chief Medical Officer of the Decepticon Legion; in the strictly hierarchical Decepticon Legion, he was able to rise from a lowly Medical Spider to become Megatron's designated medical officer, which speaks to his technical skill in the fields of medicine and rescue.
Because of this, he was invited to participate in many of the Decepticon Legion's cruel transformation experiments in the past, though not as deeply as Starscream and Shockwave.
But even what Scalpel knew was enough for the Decepticon Engineers under Sun Cheng.
In any scientific research process, the most difficult breakthrough is never one to one hundred, but zero to one.
With the technology obtained from Scalpel, although none of it could be considered very complete, Sun Cheng's Decepticon Engineers, having references and technical guidance, relied on their numerical advantage to interpret and perfect it in a short amount of time.
The cultivation of Humanoid Decepticons was relatively simple; Atlas and his team had previously conducted a series of studies on Humanoid Decepticons, so they already had some technical accumulation.
It was just that they had been stuck on certain technologies and unable to break through, which is why they had never been able to independently master the Humanoid Decepticon technology belonging to Base No. 2.
The Humanoid Decepticon technology obtained from Scalpel quickly filled the gaps for Atlas and his team; over the past few months, using the perfected Humanoid Decepticons, Base No. 2 had already begun mass-cultivating more mature Humanoid Decepticons.
Sun Cheng issued an order to Base No. 2 to cultivate at least over one thousand Humanoid Decepticons within one year.
Strictly speaking, the strength of the perfected Humanoid Decepticons still belonged to the Worker level, and their true combat power was not too high.
However, they could perfectly simulate human appearances, making them sharp tools for lurking, gathering intelligence, and controlling the sphere of influence in South America for Base No. 2.
Compared to the rapid progress of the Humanoid Decepticons, the progress of Base No. 2 in the area of Replica Warriors was much slower.
To put it simply, the Decepticon Legion's Replica Warriors were a special technology where a batch of specially selected Decepticon Warriors with unique characteristics had their body data fully recorded and saved, allowing for the mass cultivation of a vast number of Decepticon Warriors with the same bodies and combat power; it was similar to the concept of clones on Earth.
Great Scientists of the Decepticon Legion like Starscream and Shockwave all mastered this technology for mass-cultivating Replica Warriors.
From Jazz's memories, Sun Cheng learned that the Autobot Great Scientists had also studied Replica Warriors for a period during the civil war in order to resist the Decepticon Legion's massive amounts of Cannon Fodder.
However, the cultivation of such Replica Warriors was quite inhumane, and there was a great deal of opposition within the Autobot camp, which even Sentinel Prime could not suppress.
In the end, even though the Autobots knew they were short-handed, they were hindered by the inhumanity of this technology and could not mass-cultivate their own Cannon Fodder warriors.
Strictly speaking, Replica Warriors could be divided into two types: Cannon Fodder warriors and Advanced Warriors.
Cannon Fodder warriors, as the name suggests, were Replica Warriors specifically cultivated to consume the Autobots' effective strength on the battlefield.
General Cannon Fodder-type Replica Warriors were specifically selected by Starscream and Shockwave; their body cultivation was not complex, and they had a certain amount of combat power, but it was not high.
However, every Cannon Fodder-type Replica Warrior was a bloodthirsty warrior who feared no death; generally, there were only two outcomes when entangled by them: either the Replica Warrior died, or the target died.
The Decepticon Legion's Replica Warriors were not all Cannon Fodder.
Whether under Starscream or other big shots of the Decepticon Legion like Shockwave, there were batches of special Replica Warriors.
For example, the Constructicon team and Terrorcons under Starscream; the Rogue Squad, Targetmasters, Clones, Stunticons, and so on under Shockwave.
These special Replica Warriors either possessed combat power at or above the Advanced Warrior level, or they were well-known teams within the Decepticon Legion.
Unlike the Cannon Fodder-type Replica Warriors, most of these special Replica Warriors voluntarily applied to become Replica Warriors to achieve a form of immortality.
The first batch of Replica Warriors for Base No. 2 had already begun preparations for cultivation.
Currently, there were only two prototypes selected by Sun Cheng for the Replica Warriors, which were Ravage and Laserbeak from the Cassette Corps.
The reason for choosing them was, on one hand, because when Soundwave was surrounded and killed previously, the Autobots did not destroy the remains of Ravage and Laserbeak, allowing Atlas and his team to obtain the most detailed body data.
On the other hand, because both of these Decepticons were already dead, Sun Cheng could tamper with the backed-up Memory Data.
He did not want the Replica Warriors he had worked so hard to cultivate to rebel against him in the future; that would be far too counterproductive.
Because it was the first time Base No. 2 was cultivating Replica Warriors, and the technology in Scalpel's Memory Chip was not complete, Atlas and his team encountered many problems, so it was not yet possible to determine when the first batch of Replica Warriors could be deployed to the battlefield.
It took Starscream about two to three years on average to cultivate a batch of Cannon Fodder warriors, while special-type Replica Warriors took anywhere from five to seven years.
Providing sufficient Energy Liquid and metal for the rapid generation of Replica Warrior bodies could greatly accelerate this cultivation process.
Sun Cheng really could not wait that long; after returning from New Iacon, a sense of crisis that a war was imminent made him restless and unable to sleep or eat.
Among the four major projects he formulated for Base No. 2, the first three were proceeding in an orderly manner.
However, with the arrival of Shockwave and the main force of the Decepticon Legion, a war would inevitably break out on Earth in the future.
By then, as a traitor to the Decepticon Legion, Sun Cheng would inevitably be besieged by the Decepticon Legion.
He had to prepare in advance now to get ready for the coming war.
At Sun Cheng's request, the first batch of Replica Warriors cultivated by Base No. 2 would receive sufficient resource allocation.
Cultivating Replica Warriors with Laserbeak as the prototype was not difficult; it was expected that the first batch of Replica Warriors would be seen in about half a year.
However, Ravage was more troublesome; it was a Predacon that had reached the Advanced Warrior level, and its body structure was very different from that of a general Decepticon.
Even if Atlas and his team simplified a part of its body structure, it was estimated that it would take at least a year or more to cultivate the first batch of Replica Warriors with Ravage as the prototype, and that was under the premise of massive resource allocation.
The imminent war crisis caused Sun Cheng to hole up in Base No. 2 again after returning from New Iacon, personally supervising the four major projects.
Amidst the busyness, the small experimental spaceship he personally designed was finally manufactured by Atlas and his team.
