Chapter 760: War on the Dark Side of the Moon (Part 1) 1/24
The Dark Side of the Moon, a place that can never be directly observed from Earth.
At this very moment, on the Dark Side of the Moon, two races with the same origin—the Decepticons and the Autobots, both born on a distant planet four light-years away called Cybertron—are continuing their war that has lasted for millions of years here.
"Boom! Boom! Boom!"
The sounds of explosions and the clashing of metal blades came continuously. Optimus Prime stood in a crater, gazing into the distance at the battle still raging several kilometers away, his expression very grave.
"The battle has reached a stalemate!"
A few months ago, he learned from the Decepticon—Frenzy—that the former Autobot Leader, who was also his teacher—Sentinel Prime—had crashed on the Moon. It was highly likely that he had not died, but had fallen into a coma due to severe injuries and ultimately ended up under the control of the Decepticons.
Afterwards, Optimus Prime dispatched his elite agent—Bumblebee—ordering him to infiltrate the Moon to search for and verify whether Sentinel Prime was there.
As a result, after sending back a single communication upon arriving on the Moon, Bumblebee had been silent ever since.
As the Leader of the Autobots, even though Optimus Prime had been eager to lead the Autobots to march on the Moon months ago.
However, he also had his own concerns; Earth was, after all, not the home of the Autobots, and this living planet had nurtured some miraculous carbon-based life and indigenous civilizations.
Whether it was the Autobots where Optimus Prime belonged or the Decepticons, to the people of Earth, they were alien invaders.
This point was something he had deeply experienced from the United States, with whom he had previously cooperated.
The Americans had always harbored a hostility that came from the bottom of their hearts toward them. Influenced by this hostility, although Optimus Prime had brought great goodwill in his desire to cooperate with the United States, the most powerful human nation on Earth, the result was disappointing.
Besides the potential opponent of humanity, the Decepticon Frenzy and his forces also left Optimus Prime feeling uncertain.
Under the influence of the Matrix of Leadership, Optimus Prime had awakened the memories of his past life as Orion Pax.
The experiences of two lifetimes gave him a deeper understanding of the evil and cunning of the Decepticons, although from his past contacts with Frenzy, that was an existence completely different from what Optimus Prime had known in the past.
But even though Frenzy had shown enough goodwill toward the Autobots, and he had also made a relatively positive response.
Back at the inauguration ceremony of New Iacon, Optimus Prime had invited Frenzy to attend.
Yet, deep down, they both knew that not only was he guarding against Frenzy, but Frenzy was likely guarding against him as well.
New Iacon, established on Earth, had therefore become less secure.
This time, the operation targeting the Moon was one Optimus Prime had decided upon only after much deliberation.
He served as the supreme Commander, leading over one hundred Autobot Warriors, plus the Aerialbots who had arrived on Earth not long ago, to quietly launch a surprise attack on the Moon.
Considering that there were still many Autobot civilians at New Iacon, he had Arcee and her sisters stay behind with a team of Warriors to prevent anyone from taking advantage of the situation to launch a sneak attack and wipe them out.
However, despite bringing all his elites, Optimus Prime and his team had still underestimated the Moon.
Starscream had arrived in the Solar System following Megatron, and he had been operating on the Moon for over a hundred years; the Dark Side of the Moon, in particular, had been managed by him until it was almost impenetrable.
No sooner had Optimus Prime and his team arrived on the Moon and entered the Dark Side of the Moon than they encountered a patrol of Decepticons.
Then, the battle broke out instantly and quickly escalated into a small-scale war.
Several kilometers away, in the sky above the Dark Side of the Moon, standard Decepticon fighter jets were providing sufficient fire support for the clone Warriors who were exchanging fire with the Autobots on the ground.
That was a special type of aircraft completely different from human fighter jets on Earth; it possessed higher mobility and firepower, and it was said to have been invented by the great Decepticon Scientist Shockwave during the civil war.
If Sun Cheng were here, he would certainly not be unfamiliar with it.
Because the technical prototype for the aerial combat robots he designed was exactly this type of fighter jet equipped by the Decepticon Legion.
The Aerialbots and the Triple Changer Drift were the only Warriors among those brought by Optimus Prime who possessed aerial combat capabilities.
Although every one of them possessed the ability to take down the Decepticon fighter jets in the sky.
But the numbers were simply too great; looking out, it was a dense swarm, and conservatively estimated, there were at least over three hundred Decepticon fighter jets currently engaging the Aerialbots and providing fire support for the Decepticon clone Warriors on the ground.
The Aerialbots were still trying their best, but the enemy's numbers were too overwhelming.
The number of clone Warriors fighting the Autobots on the ground was even more terrifying; this battle had started two days ago.
But in the past two days, the Autobots had killed at least over five hundred Decepticons.
Yet, there were still endless streams of Decepticon clone Warriors rushing out from Decepticon alert outposts that looked like watchtowers.
Optimus Prime was now regretting his lack of foresight!
This satellite of Earth had already been managed by the Decepticons into their own territory.
This surprise attack, which had been planned, was forced to evolve into a war.
"Leader, more wounded have been sent over!"
Ratchet brought several Autobot Warriors whose wounds had not yet healed, delivering a few Autobot Warriors who had been severely wounded by the Decepticons and were on the verge of death.
Optimus Prime nodded slightly, took out the increasingly dim Matrix of Leadership from his chest, which had just opened, and began to treat these wounded Autobots.
The battle gradually reached a stalemate, which was something none of the Autobots had expected.
Optimus Prime had previously attempted to use his own powerful combat strength, acting as the tip of a spear, to forcibly break through the Decepticon encirclement and rush to their Base.
The result was that the Decepticon Commander on the opposite side immediately committed more troops, concentrating them in front of him to block their advance.
At the same time, the Decepticons began to disregard death to severely wound or kill Autobot Warriors, forcing Optimus Prime to stop his advance and use his own powerful combat strength to shield the wounded and resurrect the fallen soldiers.
After going back and forth like this several times, the battle situation just reached a stalemate.
Optimus Prime, who should have been the strongest combat force on the Autobot side, had to retreat to the relatively safe rear because a large number of Warriors were severely wounded, beginning to treat the wounded and even resurrect the dead.
The Autobots could not break through the defensive line formed by the Decepticons, who disregarded death and feared no attrition, while the Decepticons, who had vaguely formed an encirclement around them, could only maintain a loose siege due to a lack of high-level combat power and did not have the ability to finish off this group of Autobots.
