Chapter 766: Rescuing Sentinel Prime (Part II)

~7 min read 1,294 words

Decepticon Base, inside the Nemesis spaceship.

Prowl stood more than ten meters away from Starscream, watching a projection light wall not far off with him.

Barricade and Prowl stood separated from each other, making no effort to hide his murderous gaze.

Back when they were among the Autobots who had not yet defected, his body—along with those of Jazz, Mirage, Bumblebee, and a batch of other Autobots—had all been remodeled with reference to Prowl's body.

During the Cybertronian Civil War, Sentinel Prime placed great importance on intelligence gathering.

Thus came his later plan to reference Prowl's body to mass-produce elite Autobot agents.

For the proud and arrogant Barricade, there was nothing more devastating than the realization that he was merely a replica in someone else's plan.

Later, after defecting to the Decepticon camp, it wasn't just Jazz, Mirage, and Bumblebee—those brothers in name only—who disgusted him; Prowl was the existence Barricade hated most.

It was just that he was more rational than the average Decepticon; Barricade was relatively loyal to both Starscream and Megatron, which was why he knew of some of the agreements between Megatron and Sentinel Prime.

That was why Barricade could refrain from attacking Prowl; he knew that even Starscream dared not openly cause trouble regarding this agreement, and if he were to ruin the pact between Megatron and Sentinel Prime, his end would be miserable.

Frowning as he watched the exceptionally vigilant Optimus Prime and the Autobots on the light wall, Prowl spoke in a cold voice: "You were too obvious, Starscream!"

As a bystander standing outside the situation, he saw things very clearly from behind the scenes.

The way the replica warriors under Starscream's control went from chasing them to suddenly retreating was too abrupt, causing Optimus Prime and the Autobots to grow suspicious.

Perhaps they hadn't yet made certain associations, only feeling that the Decepticons had likely set some kind of trap at the crash site.

But if they were to look back on it later, it would not be difficult to discover the strangeness of it all.

Starscream was dismissive of his accusation, and after emitting his signature sinister laugh, he gave a reply in a low voice that immediately left Prowl speechless.

"Do you think your 'Lord Prime' cares about being discovered by Optimus Prime?"

Prowl fell silent!

The person who knows you best will never be yourself or your friends and family, but the enemy who hates you the most.

He knew Starscream was right; Sentinel Prime was an arrogant and domineering Leader who could betray the entire Autobot race for the sake of one of his own ideas.

Sentinel Prime would not care if his agreement with Megatron was discovered by Optimus Prime; given his personality, even if Optimus Prime was his student, if Optimus Prime stood in his way, he would kill his own student without hesitation.

"Cooperating with the Decepticons is no different from asking a tiger for its skin. Lord Prime is too conceited; Megatron may not be his match, but he is certainly not someone who would willingly serve as a subordinate!"

Sighing once more in his heart, Prowl, the loyal confidant who had served Sentinel Prime for millions of years, began to doubt Sentinel Prime's confident plan once again.

If this were before, he might not have doubted Sentinel Prime.

However, Prowl had been by Sentinel Prime's side serving him for millions of years, and during that time, he had sacrificed himself for him more than once.

Cybertron's Awakening Technology could indeed resurrect dead Decepticons or Autobots, but strictly speaking, every Decepticon or Autobot after being awakened was no longer the one they had been before.

Death was a very magical yet terrible experience; even if saved and awakened immediately, many brave warriors might become cowardly because of it, some anti-war individuals might question peace, and some mild-mannered ones might turn into perverts.

Through several cycles of death, the originally cold-natured Prowl had gradually undergone changes he himself had not yet realized.

He, who had previously been loyal and never questioned the orders of Lord Prime Sentinel Prime, had for the first time felt an extremely strong sense of opposition when Sentinel Prime decided to cooperate with Megatron.

Later, witnessing the Autobot transport ships being attacked, fortresses falling, and countless Autobots dying in battle under Sentinel Prime's deliberate indulgence—

one incident after another, scene after scene, had deeply affected the current Prowl.

So much so that when he suddenly received a remote communication from Sentinel Prime about half a year ago, ordering him to fake his death and hide behind the scenes to assist him in the next step of his plan, Prowl's first thought was to find the current Autobot leader—Optimus Prime—and inform him in detail about the conspiracy of his teacher, the Lord Prime he had once served.

"Perhaps there is no going back!"

Outwardly showing no emotional fluctuation, Prowl sighed in his heart.

Watching the group of Autobots on the light wall who had already arrived near the crashed ship and defeated the Decepticon soldiers Starscream had left to guard it, he knew the plan was constantly aligning with the agreement between Sentinel Prime and Megatron.

Optimus Prime and the others would soon discover Sentinel Prime sleeping inside the ship; even if the Autobots realized something was odd, they would not have more time to think.

They would follow Sentinel Prime's plan, take him away, transport him back to Earth, and then awaken him in the New Iacon they had newly established.

And once Sentinel Prime woke up, everything would be different.

As the most powerful warrior since the mythical age of Cybertron, Lord Prime Sentinel Prime possessed power comparable to the legendary Thirteen Primes.

During the First Civil War, he had once faced the Decepticon Legion's Devastator head-on and strangled him with his own strength, which was one of the many reasons why Shockwave later abandoned Devastator.

His confidence in his own powerful combat strength was the source of Sentinel Prime's confidence in daring to cooperate with Megatron.

He was confident that even if the Decepticons harbored evil intentions, under his powerful combat strength, they were all nothing but worthless rabble.

Sentinel Prime was too conceited, to the point that he attributed all the Autobot failures during the First Civil War to the cowardice and incompetence of ordinary Autobots, and to his subordinates being unable to perfectly execute his tactics.

He ignored the fact that Decepticon military technology had been constantly innovating; following the dangerous experiments of Shockwave and his ilk, Triple Changers, replica warriors, Giant Combiners, and so on—advanced modification technologies that had not even been born during the peak of the Council of Ancients era of Cybertronian civilization—were all born first within the Decepticon Legion.

"I hope it won't be too bad!"

Prowl watched silently as Optimus Prime and the others rushed into the ship, quickly discovered Sentinel Prime sleeping inside, carefully carried him out of the ship, and then quickly retreated from the vessel.

He did not leave, waiting until the Autobots began to withdraw from the Moon before slowly asking: "What about Bumblebee? Lord Prime's plan needs more helpers. Hand him over to me; I will wipe his memory..."

Answering him was a cold sneer from Barricade; Starscream turned around and walked outside with a smile on his face.

Not until he reached the door did he suddenly stop and say: "He is already useless. If you want to do it, do it; make it clean!"

The next moment, as Starscream stepped away, the room located inside the Nemesis spaceship was suddenly surrounded by a layer of electromagnetic net.

Barricade looked at Prowl with a gloomy face; he could finally stop suppressing the murderous intent in his heart.
