Chapter 864: Total War 18

~7 min read 1,373 words

Upon learning that the Decepticons had invaded Earth, and that the reason for their invasion was likely related to the Quintessons.

Optimus Prime disregarded all objections and led a team of Elite Warrior Autobots, rushing at full speed toward the Arctic Circle ten thousand miles away.

Traveling at full speed, they crossed the distance of over ten thousand miles in less than six hours.

Although all the Autobots were exhausted.

Optimus Prime knew, however, that the human soldiers on the front lines facing the Decepticons must be in an even more difficult situation at this moment.

As a Leader of the Autobots, especially one who had witnessed the decadence and series of upheavals within the Autobots after the failure of the Cybertronian Civil War, and who had even been driven away by the Autobot Council, Optimus Prime might indeed be kind-hearted, but he was by no means a naive, purely good person.

Years ago, upon learning that the AllSpark was on Earth, the reason he actively extended goodwill to the United States—the most powerful human nation on Earth—after arriving with his troops, and engaged in a series of collaborations, even making many concessions during the cooperation.

The reason for this was that Optimus Prime saw through the weakness of the Autobots at the time, and could even say they were in danger of genocide.

This was not Optimus Prime overthinking, because the reality of the Autobots was only more dangerous than he imagined.

With the failure of the Cybertronian Civil War, the Autobots fled their home planet of Cybertron and were forced to hide on a satellite.

Nominally, the Autobots had never given up on continuing to fight the Decepticon Legion for their home planet.

They still had a considerable number of Guerrillas on the planet Cybertron, and the Autobots were also accumulating strength, concentrating ships to head to some colonial planets to mine resources and restore their strength.

But the truth was that the Autobot Guerrillas left behind on the planet Cybertron to continue resisting the Decepticons were all soldiers and some civilians who could not be evacuated when the Autobots fled in a panic.

After the Autobots evacuated to the satellite, Optimus Prime, who advocated funding the Guerrillas and accumulating strength to counterattack, was attacked by the Council with various excuses, and most of the responsibility for the defeat was pinned on him, this new Leader, eventually forcing him to leave.

Once Optimus Prime left, the fate of the Guerrillas could be imagined.

As for the minerals mined by Autobot ships heading to colonial planets, most of them fell into the hands of the Autobot Council, to be squandered at will by the nobles.

After the suppression by the former Leader Sentinel Prime was gone, and the new Leader Optimus Prime was driven away.

The Autobot Council was full of old nobles born during the Cybertronian Elder Council era, and many of the high-ranking commanders among the Decepticons were also old nobles born during the Cybertronian Elder Council era; it was hard to say whether they might reach some kind of agreement.

Because of these worries, Optimus Prime, as the Leader of the Autobots, had been extending goodwill to the indigenous people of Earth—humans—since arriving on Earth. The goal was simple: to win the understanding of humans and, in the future, obtain a piece of land on Earth to establish a sanctuary belonging to the Autobots, so as to gather and summon more compatriots to start a new life here.

It was just a pity that he clearly chose the wrong partner at the beginning.

The United States was indeed the most powerful country on Earth, but it was also the source of chaos on Earth; this selfish country had always cared only about its own safety, never minding the life or death of others.

As a result, during the time of collaborating with the Americans to establish the NEST force and jointly fighting the Decepticons, although Optimus Prime had proposed to the Americans more than once that he hoped to obtain a sanctuary on Earth, even if it was not large, and even if it was not within the United States.

But the Americans not only never agreed, but even elevated the threat of the Autobots to the same level as the Decepticons.

If not for the fact that later, Sun Cheng, out of strategic needs, took the initiative to help the Autobots secure land in Africa, Optimus Prime would likely still have to lead his people to continue wandering everywhere.

In a sense, Optimus Prime needed to thank Sun Cheng, and he did indeed do so.

Otherwise, given the blood feud between the Autobots and the Decepticons, the subsequent series of collaborations would have been impossible.

However, Optimus Prime was ultimately not Sun Cheng, and the Autobots were not Decepticons.

This young Leader of the Autobots was still seeking to openly integrate into the big family of Earth, letting humans thoroughly accept the Autobots, rather than hiding and sneaking around like they were now.

This reinforcement of the U. S. military was another attempt by Optimus Prime.

He also knew the news that the main force of the Decepticon Legion led by Shockwave was about to arrive on Earth. Given the consistent performance of the Decepticons, their arrival would inevitably trigger a total war between the Decepticons and the humans of Earth.

Actively repairing the relationship with the Americans might be helpful in the future when jointly resisting the Decepticon Legion and when the Autobots integrated into Earth.

Clearly, even now, Optimus Prime still had illusions about the Americans.

"Leader, let everyone take a short rest!"

Ironhide had been left behind to hold down the fort in New Iacon; the one who spoke to remind the young Leader was his deputy—Ratchet.

Optimus Prime moved his lips, but looking back at his surroundings, he found that the vehicles the Autobots had transformed into had slowed down, clearly showing signs of fatigue after the previous journey, which had spared no effort in consuming the energy within their Sparks.

He hesitated for a moment, but ultimately agreed.

"Alright then, we will rest here for a while!"

Quickly transforming back into his Autobot form, Optimus Prime looked at the sky to the northwest, his brow furrowed.

They were only two hundred kilometers away from the target location; at his speed, it would take at most ten minutes to rush there at full power.

"I wonder how the battle is going over there?"

The Autobots had once cooperated with the United States, so Optimus Prime knew a thing or two about the strength of the U. S. military.

However, their opponent this time was not the copycat warriors of the Decepticons from the past, but Blitzwing, known as one of the strongest Triple Changer warriors of the Decepticon Legion, and an Elite Warrior vanguard force he led. Among them were not only Advanced Warriors but also quite a few Elite Warriors.

Even for the Autobots, facing them required deploying all their elites.

So, he had no confidence at all in how the U. S. military over there could perform or how long they could hold out.

Just as he was worrying, he looked up and suddenly saw 'meteors' dragging long tails across the sky.

"Decepticons?"

Optimus Prime's expression tightened, and he strained his vision to look up.

The movement in the sky soon attracted the team of Autobots resting here.

They all looked up at the sky, and as the 'meteors' descended, some Autobots skilled in reconnaissance gradually discovered their true appearance.

"Not Decepticons, they look like human Missiles!"

The unease in Optimus Prime's heart grew even stronger as those Missiles fell.

He looked at the team that had only rested for a few minutes, pondered for a moment, and said: "Sideswipe, take a team of fast ones and come with me to support them immediately. The rest of the Autobots, rest for a while before heading over!"

Sideswipe did not hesitate at all, nodded, and picked a few faster Autobot warriors. Optimus Prime then looked at the Elite Warrior who had arrived on Earth not long ago—Hound, and ordered: "Hound, the remaining warriors will be commanded by you, Drift, and Ratchet!"

"Leave it to me, Leader!"
