Chapter 870: Bruticus
On the Moon, inside a hidden underground Base.
"Prepare for combination!"
Following a voice brimming with irrepressible excitement, four other deep voices soon chimed in: "Blast Off, ready to prepare!"
"Vortex, standing by!"
"Brawl, all systems go!"
"Swindle, ready anytime!"
"Begin!"
Following Onslaught's sharp command, within the very spacious underground Base, azure electric arcs suddenly and eerily erupted between the five Decepticons standing side by side.
The arcs appeared as if out of thin air, yet also seemed to originate from the bodies of the five Decepticons.
As more and more arcs continuously generated around the five Decepticons, they soon completely enveloped Onslaught and the five members of his Combaticons.
Immediately, a miraculous reaction, which language cannot precisely interpret, began within the electric arcs.
Between the bodies of the five Decepticons of the Combaticons, a sort of strange transformation seemed to occur.
Onslaught's body became the torso, Blast Off transformed into the right arm, Vortex transformed into the left arm, Brawl transformed into the left leg, and Swindle transformed into the right leg.
Amidst the growing azure electric arcs, a increasingly tall and ferocious giant gradually took shape.
The giant's head looked like Onslaught, its brow somewhat resembled Blast Off, its ears were like Vortex's, its nose like Brawl's, and its mouth looked exactly like Swindle's.
The entire transformation process lasted for over two minutes.
As the electric arcs vanished, a burly giant standing over thirty meters tall appeared in the empty underground Base, immediately making the height of this underground Base seem a bit too low.
"Although it's not the first time, this kind of powerful strength is truly intoxicating!"
A dull voice echoed in the emptiness; it was the voice of Bruticus, the Giant Combiner formed by the five Decepticons of the Combaticons.
However, despite the temporary combination, the five members of the Combaticons all retained their original consciousnesses.
Within Bruticus's control channel, they were communicating.
Onslaught: "It is indeed an intoxicating power; I feel that I could easily destroy Devastator now!"
Blast Off: "Devastator is only a first-generation Giant Combiner; I think Menasor and Superion shouldn't be our opponents either!"
Vortex: "Starscream doesn't know where he got some of Menasor's technology; it's not strange that we, Bruticus, are stronger than Menasor!"
Brawl: "But the energy consumption is also much greater. I feel that in combined form, we can last at most ten-plus minutes before the energy in our Sparks drops below the warning line!"
Swindle: "Hey, guys. These ten-plus minutes are enough for us to do a lot of things on the battlefield!"
The consciousnesses of the five Combaticon members composing Bruticus communicated in the internal control channel, but this did not affect their joint control of this big guy, letting him move about within the underground Base.
Running, punching, kicking—the powerful strength of this Giant Combiner caused the ground and air inside the underground Base to emit constant, dull thuds.
Just as he was exercising his body, applause rang out at the entrance of the underground Base.
Bruticus turned his head to look; it was Starscream.
"Very good, it seems you have gradually mastered the combination!"
Starscream had a pleased expression on his face as he looked at the new toy before him.
He was genuinely satisfied with Bruticus, the Giant Combiner formed by the Combaticons led by Onslaught.
All that talk about getting Menasor-related technology from certain channels was just a story Starscream made up to fool Onslaught.
From the very beginning, he had never thought about—and indeed could not obtain—Menasor's technology.
Shockwave guarded against him strictly, but Starscream was not afraid in the slightest.
The original Devastator was created by him, Shockwave, and a group of other Decepticon Legion Scientists working together.
Although Shockwave went a step further later, creating the even more powerful second-generation Giant Combiner—Menasor—on the basis of fully digesting the manufacturing technology related to Devastator.
But in terms of intelligence, Starscream never believed he was inferior to Shockwave.
Since Shockwave could create Menasor after digesting Devastator, he had followed this same path as well.
Over the past millions of years, although Starscream had been stripped of his military rank and sent to cultivate clone Warriors after his second failed rebellion.
Yet, in the process of repeatedly cultivating Devastator, Starscream was also constantly performing repeated modifications and adjustments on Devastator.
Finally, when he had accumulated enough technology and inspiration, he created his own new-generation Giant Combiner—Bruticus.
Bruticus lowered his head to look at Starscream, who was not even as tall as his calf, and asked from his commanding height: "Why did you come? Aren't you afraid Megatron will discover your secret?"
This question was asked by Onslaught, who had long guessed that Starscream's research into Bruticus must have been done behind Megatron's back.
Once discovered by that tyrant, it would inevitably lead to another round of brutal beatings and wariness.
However, to his question, Starscream only smiled slightly, "He doesn't have time to pay attention to me right now!"
The grudge between the Quintessons and Megatron was known to only a very few high-ranking members within the Decepticon Legion.
Although Onslaught knew of Megatron's origins, unfortunately, he did not understand Megatron's personality well enough, and naturally did not know how much Megatron hated the Quintessons who had made him a slave for thousands of years.
Traces of the Quintessons' past visits were suddenly discovered on Earth; based on Starscream's understanding of Megatron, his attention would be drawn to the Quintessons for some time to come.
Moreover, he didn't care at all if his private research into Bruticus was discovered by Megatron.
In fact, Starscream even hoped that Megatron would know about this.
"You don't understand him at all!"
He said this to Bruticus, or rather, to the leader of the Combaticons—Onslaught.
Megatron was indeed a tyrant, but he was also a competent commander.
Back then, Starscream's two rebellions had once severely shaken Megatron's authority.
But even though Megatron hated him to the core, he only beat and tortured him for a while, and then let him go again after stripping him of his military rank.
What was the reason?
Wasn't it because Starscream had that value? His combat power, his intelligence, the technology he mastered, and the inventions he created were all beneficial to the Decepticon Legion, so that tyrant forgave him.
If he were to find out that Starscream, following Shockwave, had also created an even more powerful Giant Combiner.
With Megatron's shrewdness, although he would be more wary of him, he would also absolutely value his worth even more.
This is Megatron, a domineering tyrant, a qualified commander.
