Chapter 79: Meeting Concludes
After the wooden cart was finished, the tribal gathering was also coming to an end. Now the tribal gathering only had the collective wedding left; after the collective wedding, the tribal gathering would be over.
That afternoon, after Ba Ke Er and Mo De had caught enough food for four people for that night and the next morning, they returned, bringing Zhang Fan and Fei Er, who had already prepared the seasonings, and together they walked toward the central square of the Tiger Tribe.
On the way, Zhang Fan, Fei Er, and the others had originally thought they were leaving relatively early. But after arriving at the central square, they realized that there were actually people who had come even earlier than them. Now the entire square was filled with people.
"Good heavens! Fan Fan, I didn't expect so many people to come to the tribal gathering!" Fei Er exclaimed in surprise.
"Yeah, Fei Er, it seems there are still a lot of people who haven't come yet!" Zhang Fan said, then began looking around for a place to grill meat.
At that moment, Mi Ya Luo happened to hear Zhang Fan and the others' voices, squeezed out of the crowd, and walked up to the four of them.
"Hey! Fei Er, you guys came too, but there probably aren't any better spots left. Fortunately, we arrived early and already saved spots for you. Come on, I'll take you there." After saying that, Mi Ya Luo grabbed Zhang Fan and Fei Er's hands and started squeezing toward the front of the square. Ba Ke Er and Mo De could only carry the food and follow closely behind.
After squeezing for a while, Mi Ya Luo finally led Zhang Fan's group to their destination.
After arriving, Zhang Fan took out the prepared flower tea, poured a cup for each person, and then several females sat down together to chat. Meanwhile, the males were in charge of setting up the grill and began preparing dinner.
Not long after, night fell, and the tribal collective wedding was next. This collective wedding was basically the same as the one Zhang Fan had seen before in the Heaven Lion Tribe. The only difference was that the couples participating in this collective wedding came from different tribes. Of course, Wu Na and Ji Lie were the exceptions.
After the collective wedding came the bonfire party, with everyone sitting together in a circle, singing and dancing.
Zhang Fan watched as so many people sat in a circle, singing and dancing. Turning his head, he saw the drum in the square and suddenly recalled a game he always played at bonfire parties back on Earth—pass the flower while drumming. He then began to explain the game's rules to everyone:
"The game is simple: someone with their back to everyone beats the drum. Once the drumming starts, everyone passes the flower in their hand downward. When the drum stops, everyone must stop. Then we see who ends up holding the flower—for example, if the drum stops and the flower is already in my hand, then I lose and have to perform a piece for everyone. Do you understand?" After Zhang Fan finished speaking, everyone began to point out the parts they didn't understand. Once Zhang Fan had explained all their questions, everyone understood. And so the game began.
In the first round, a male from the Leopard Tribe lost; his performance was a dance, but nobody could tell what kind of dance he was doing. Moreover, his limbs were extremely uncoordinated, causing everyone to burst out laughing. In the second round, the loser was an unformed male chick of the Bird Tribe. Since he had not yet taken human form, he fulfilled the penalty in his beast shape, and his performance was singing. That voice was truly melodious and moving, rivaling even the nightingales of Earth. The next… third… fourth… fifth…
As the game went on, waves of laughter and cheers continually spread from the central square throughout the Tiger Tribe.
The bonfire party lasted a long time, because the tribal gathering would end tomorrow and everyone had to return to their original tribes. After leaving, they didn't know if they would ever meet again, so they took advantage of this final night, with both acquaintances and strangers beginning to get to know each other all over again. Only as midnight approached did the bonfire party finally end.
After it ended, everyone reluctantly said their goodbyes. At that moment, Zhang Fan suddenly felt a touch of sadness. Indeed, parting is painful, even though they had only spent about twenty days together. It was only at the moment of separation that they realized how quickly time had passed.
After returning to the Heaven Lion Tribe's encampment, Zhang Fan and the others then washed up and went to sleep.
