Chapter 29: Jin Reveals the Opponent
Fugaku’s gaze was dark, his body trembling slightly.
But.
His cultivation of composure was strong; even seeing this scene, his face remained calm.
Yet inside, he was seething with rage—this damn Uchiha Jin had not only brought the radicals under his control in a short time, but now had also won over the moderates and centrists.
Was he, the rightful Uchiha clan head, reduced to a figurehead with no followers?
This was—unbearable humiliation!
Shisui, however, lacked such composure; upon seeing them, he couldn’t help blurting out: “Elder Hachi, Elder Amano, how could Itachi too…?”
“Shisui, give up,” Uchiha Amano cut him off immediately. “This is our choice!”
“We gave Fugaku many chances, but under his leadership, what has the Uchiha become? Even a blind man can see.”
“Even if we beg like dogs, even if we keep retreating, what did we gain?”
“They take every inch!”
“Our retreat brought no goodwill from the village—only endless escalation. Our ancestral lands were even monitored by the Anbu and the Root…”
“The Uchiha’s brief respite? All thanks to Uchiha Jin!”
“Your and Fugaku’s patience may be right, but we see no results. Jin’s actions, however, yield clear results.”
At this moment, Uchiha Amano showed no respect to either of them.
And yet.
Shisui fell silent, unable to respond.
He wanted to urge everyone to be patient, to trust the village and the Hokage to resolve things—but his words carried far less weight than Jin’s actions.
What to do?
As he wrestled with this torment, Fugaku stood up directly: “Shisui, it’s pointless.”
“Clan Head, I—” Shisui was stunned.
Fugaku ignored him, turning straight to Uchiha Jin: “Your actions will drive the Uchiha to ruin. I advise Itachi to abandon reclaiming our ancestral lands—such radical moves will make us the target of all.”
Almost instantly.
With Fugaku’s words, the room fell utterly silent.
Uchiha Jin shook his head: “Impossible.”
No explanation. No hesitation.
To men like Fugaku and Shisui, any explanation was meaningless—more words would only waste time.
“Are Itachi trying to drive the Uchiha to annihilation?” Fugaku’s face flushed with fury.
Uchiha Jin sneered: “Think what Itachi want. But let me tell Itachi this—even if I lead the Uchiha to death, every single Uchiha here would gladly die with me.”
Fugaku fell silent.
This was beyond talking!
Uchiha Jin wouldn’t even bother explaining—he had no idea how to counter this.
Of course, he understood.
Uchiha Jin didn’t trust him at all—perhaps even looked down on him. Jin surely had his own calculations, but simply refused to explain them.
He glanced around involuntarily and saw that even after Jin declared he’d drag the Uchiha to death, the elders of every faction remained unmoved…
In his heart, clarity struck.
Uchiha Jin had already won them over. Even if Jin told them to die, they’d obey without hesitation.
What to do?
His mind raced frantically, then he gritted his teeth: “Uchiha Jin, do Itachi think I have no cards left?”
“Your Mangekyo?” Uchiha Jin sneered again: “Sorry, I don’t care.”
“Go ahead—team up with Shisui and wipe out my Uchiha.”
“But let me tell Itachi this: though Itachi have two Mangekyo, I, Uchiha Jin, am no clay doll.”
“If Itachi seek to destroy the Uchiha, I won’t lift a finger to save any of them.”
“But equally!”
“I’ll kill your wife, Mikari, and your son, Itachi—along with the child in Mikari’s womb—first.”
“Then I’ll make the Sarutobi, Tonoki, Mizumon, and Shimura clans die with the Uchiha. I know one Mangekyo can’t stand against the whole village—but I don’t care about a strong man’s dignity.”
“Whenever a strong one comes after me, I’ll flee. Then I’ll slip out and kill the weak of Konoha.”
“Fugaku, Shisui—I warn Itachi!”
“If Itachi dare side with the village against the Uchiha, I’ll make Konoha die with the Uchiha!”
“Once I’ve crippled Konoha, I don’t believe the other ninja villages won’t be tempted—won’t resist launching war!”
“My bottom line is simple!”
“If Itachi follow the rules—if Itachi can convince Konoha to stop targeting the Uchiha, or persuade the Uchiha to follow Itachi—then I, Uchiha Jin, will play by your rules.”
“But if Itachi want to flip the table and crush the Uchiha by force?”
“Then we all die together—Konoha has no reason to exist!”
His words rang like thunder.
He knew full well that one Mangekyo alone could never match the village’s countless strong ones—let alone Fugaku and Shisui’s Mangekyo, or the hidden, corrupted Obito.
So.
He made it clear: the Uchiha couldn’t contain him. If the table was flipped, he wouldn’t care if the Uchiha lived or died.
He’d become a death god in the shadows—when strong ones chased him, he’d run; when Konoha let its guard down, he’d kill its weaklings, waging guerrilla war as a ninja should.
After all, a single Mangekyo Uchiha who only wanted to escape? No one could corner or hunt him down.
“Fugaku, do Itachi have a Mangekyo?”
Uchiha Amano rose, unable to hold back his words.
Others rose too.
All stared at Fugaku in shock and confusion.
And yet.
Fugaku looked utterly bewildered: “Uchiha Jin, how do Itachi know?”
“Hmph, none of your business!” Uchiha Jin snapped: “No secret can hide from me.”
“If not for Itachi two traitors—Fugaku and Shisui—do Itachi think I’d be this cautious?”
“And Itachi, Shisui!”
“I know your Mangekyo is Tsukuyomi—capable of forcibly rewriting anyone’s thoughts and will.”
“Though I have a Mangekyo too, I don’t know if I can resist Tsukuyomi.”
“So listen well!”
“If one day Itachi find my mind altered, acting completely unlike myself, don’t hesitate—attack the Sarutobi, Tonoki, Mizumon, and Shimura clans.”
“Don’t fight Konoha’s high-ranking officials—we don’t have enough strong Uchiha. Kill their clan members instead!”
“Even if the Uchiha is wiped out, drag Konoha into war—give the other ninja villages the chance to strike.”
“The core principle is simple: if the Uchiha dies, Konoha must die too.”
