Chapter 2032: Using Fists
"So that's how it is." Xueli finally understood: "Doesn't that make him even more formidable?"
"How did you manage to subdue such a formidable Ghost General?"
"Fists." Chen Yu thought for a moment: "At the beginning, he wouldn't submit either, but later I beat him into submission with my fists."
"And after realizing that following me would be infinitely beneficial to him, he became willing to work for me."
"Beating him into submission... your answer really is simple and crude." Xueli couldn't help but be stunned.
"Haha, you can do it too. Like the messengers of your Hell, you could also use this method to teach them a lesson and see if they can work for you," Chen Yu said.
"Really?" Xueli was somewhat tempted.
"Of course it's real. Why don't we try it now?" Chen Yu checked the time; it was already past midnight. At this time of day, no matter where you are, it is when the Gate of Hell is wide open.
"Alright, let's go find one now." Xueli also glanced at the time: "The Gate of Hell has already opened. This is the time when Hell claims all Spirits. There are many of them, where should we go to find one?"
"The hospital, I suppose." Chen Yu thought for a moment and said: "A hospital is a place where new life and death intersect every day, so there should be many messengers of Hell here. If we're lucky, we might run into one as soon as we get there."
"Alright, then the hospital it is." Xueli nodded: "There is no time to lose, let's go to the hospital and take a look now."
Chen Yu and Xueli really did arrive at the small town's hospital; even at night, this place was brightly lit.
Of course, the Yisheng here were not as perpetually busy as those back home. Aside from a nurse dozing off at the nurse's station, the corridors here were almost completely empty.
However, the red light above the hospital's operating room was currently on; it seemed there were Yisheng performing emergency surgery on a patient through the night.
A woman was waiting nervously outside the operating room, because the person being resuscitated inside was her husband.
Finally, the lights in the operating room turned on again, and a group of Yisheng and nurses walked out.
"Yisheng, how is he?" The woman hurried up to meet them.
"I'm sorry, Madam, we did our best." The Yisheng shook his head, then turned and left.
The nurse pushed the man covered by a white sheet out of the operating room. The woman lunged forward; she wanted to lift the white sheet to look, but after hesitating several times, she ultimately did not dare.
Finally, she slowly collapsed to the ground and wept bitterly.
"Ma'am, don't be sad, perhaps there is still a chance for an accident to happen." Xueli walked up to comfort the woman.
The woman shook her head, only crying even harder.
"All Life that vanishes has gone to the place it ought to go; the Lord will bless you." Xueli muttered to herself, then began to pray.
"Are you a missionary?" The woman raised her head and looked at Xueli in confusion.
"Yes, I am." Xueli nodded.
"Ke'erfu was a good man. He was knocked down by a speeding semi-truck today while trying to save someone." The woman wiped away her tears.
"He will go to Heaven." Xueli comforted her.
"But I don't want him to go to any Heaven. My child and I, we hope he will be with us forever." The woman's tears fell again.
Xueli was somewhat in Silence. She sighed and said: "Because he was kind, the Lord has summoned him away."
"You also need to try and put yourself in their shoes." Chen Yu walked over and said: "He and his family do not like the Lord's summons."
"To the Lord, He is calling a person up to Heaven, but to his family, they have lost their husband, father, and son."
"Then, what should we do?" Xueli raised her head.
"Naturally, we save him and bring him back." Chen Yu smiled slightly.
"But... doing this is defying the Lord, and the messengers of Hell will not allow it." Xueli was startled.
"Have you forgotten our purpose for coming here?" Chen Yu smiled slightly: "We came here precisely to deal with the messengers of Hell."
"I forgot." Xueli was stunned, only then suddenly remembering what her purpose for coming here was. She said helplessly: "Fine, fine, let's go solve this matter now."
"Are you not afraid of defying the Lord's expectations anymore?" Chen Yu asked.
"It doesn't matter. Blindly following rules is meaningless. I think kind people are better off staying in the human world," Xueli said: "Challenging the rules occasionally is not impossible."
"It's just that by doing this, we will disrupt the order of the afterlife. I don't know what consequences will follow."
"Yisheng are saving people every day; they are disrupting the order of Life and death every day." Chen Yu said leisurely: "So if we save one person now, it won't have an impact on the grand order."
"Alright, the messenger of Hell is coming soon." Xueli became somewhat excited. She took out a piece of jewelry she carried with her and handed it to the woman.
"Take this item in your palm and hold your husband's hand. This can protect him and keep his consciousness from dissipating. I will find a way to save him right now."
"But he... is already dead." The woman looked at Xueli suspiciously; she even thought she had encountered a con artist.
"Believe me, I will definitely be able to save him." Xueli said earnestly.
"Alright, I believe you." The woman hesitated for a moment, then nodded heavily. She gripped Xueli's piece of jewelry tightly and then held her husband's hand.
A black mist invisible to the naked eye flashed, and a person wearing a straight suit, leaning on a cane, but with a Skull for a face appeared.
Ordinary people, of course, could not see him, but when he appeared, the entire entrance to the operating room became filled with a sinister aura.
He was the messenger of Hell, known in some places as the Grim Reaper.
He raised his head, grinned, and then extended his right hand. A giant scythe appeared, and with a hook at the deceased's body, a transparent figure was seen being hooked out by him.
"Is this the messenger of Hell? Is his attire so trendy? Shouldn't he be wrapped in a black robe and holding a scythe?" Chen Yu asked with some confusion.
Indeed, the image of the Grim Reaper seen on television was not like this at all.
"Our world is developing too fast; of course they will follow the times as well. This is just changing into a different set of clothes," Xueli said with a smile: "It's him, no mistake."
"That's good." Chen Yu nodded. He suddenly grabbed with his right hand, and Lichen appeared, slashing a sword strike into the air.
Crack! The giant scythe in the messenger of Hell's hand snapped into two pieces, and the soul he had hooked away returned to the deceased's body.
The messenger of Hell was startled. He raised his head to look at Chen Yu, his two emotionless eyes filled with the gaze of death.
He seemed somewhat confused; he was the messenger of Hell, the Grim Reaper. Firstly, ordinary people should not be able to see him, and secondly, even if they did see him, their first reaction should be to flee, not to come and confront him head-on.
